【題目】閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)其內(nèi)容寫一篇60詞左右的內(nèi)容概要。

Getting up early has been seen as a good habit since ancient times. Many years ago, people thought that if we went to bed early and got up early, we would be energetic (精力充沛的) the whole day. So, getting up early is of great importance to us all.

In fact, morning is the best time of a day. In the morning, the air is the freshest and people are usually in the best condition. Many of us may have the experiences that we memorize some things more quickly and correctly in the morning than any other time of the day. And it is certain that we find it easier to understand what we learn. If we get up early and do some morning exercises or only take a short walk in the morning, without doubt we can build up our bodies and become much healthier. Also we will have enough time to make a plan and get ready for our work or study of the day if we get up early. For example, if everyone in the family gets up early, the wife will have enough time to prepare the breakfast for the whole family. Children will have enough time to catch the school bus, and the husband will never forget to change his dirty shirt. Everything is in order. However, if we get up late, we’ll probably have to do everything in a hurry.

Getting up early is such a good habit that we should try our best to keep it. If we stick to (堅持) getting up early every day, we will certainly benefit a lot from it.

What are American high schools like? Well, I’m happy to tell you what I know.

When I started school here, it had already been a week since the school opened. At this school, freshmen usually go on a trip for about three days at the beginning of school. Unfortunately I missed that wonderful trip, which would have been the best time to get to know my classmates. I was really sad. I wished I’d known about it earlier.

Despite the disappointment, however, I gradually adapted to my new life and school. There is a space in the basement of the teaching building where students chat and meet each other. As we do not always have the same classrooms and classmates, the school wants us to get to know each other there. Students usually come to school early, sit in that space and have fun. Around the space, there are many lockers for students to leave their books in, so that students do not have to carry a heavy schoolbag everywhere.

It really surprises me that we have almost no textbooks. We only have textbooks for World History and Algebra 2 and they are big and heavy, like bricks. For other classes, we only need binders with paper in them. Without textbooks, students learn things freely and actively. For example, my humanities teacher just teaches us what is in her mind at the time. We never know what we will learn.

Another difference between American schools and Chinese schools is that American schools care about students’ morality more than their academic studies. For example, if you do not finish your homework, you will just be asked to do it later, but if you cheat or lie, you will get a warning or even be kicked out.

I think that most students here are good at schoolwork as well, but compared to Chinese students, they can make learning a more joyful experience. I think we should take the good points from our two different kinds of education to perfect our approach to studying.

1What made the writer sad at the beginning?

A. Being late for school. B. Not knowing anyone.

C. Being looked down upon. D. Missing the chance of the trip.

2Students go to the basement of the teaching building to _________.

A. have a free talk B. attend class

C. meet teachers D. share a classroom

3How did the writer feel when he began his lessons?

A. Happy. B. Surprised.

C. Unsatisfied. D. lonely.

4What might stop a student’s schooling in American school?

A. Not studying hard. B. Cheating.

C. Not finishing homework. D. Failing in the exam.

【題目】 Music. We hear it everywhere, every day. Getting into a lift, going around a supermarket or simply relaxing at home, music is our constant companion. And music can have a significant effect on the way we think and feel, so it's worth paying attention to what we're listening to.

Music can have a powerful effect on our moods, in terms of both reducing and increasing stress. Listening to calm gentle music in bed can help us drop off to sleep. Some airlines play smoothing music on board planes at take-off and landing, to calm nervous travelers. Athletes often listen to fast loud music to help them prepare for games. The American swimmer Michael Phelps is known to listen to rap music before important races to help pump him up.

The mood-altering effect of music can be especially acute for the people who actually play the music. Musicians who do not have high self-esteem (自尊心) can suddenly overflow with confidence once they go on stage. It's as though the music gives them a different personality.

And it's not only those who feel ill at ease with themselves who can benefit. Scientists have conducted research into the effect of music on students studying for exams. They found that listening to calm music with a regular beat can actually help students recall facts and improve their performance in exams. Classical music, preferably something by Mozart, seems to have the most beneficial effect. A word of caution, however: it's best not to over-rely on this method, as you won't be able to listen to music in an exam.

For most of us though, music is one of life's great pleasures. And it's a pleasure that endures. Researchers have found that we don't often grow out of the music that we love as teenagers, because our musical tastes are such a huge part of our identity, personality and outlook on life. So don't delete those songs you downloaded when you were fifteen - you'll probably still love them when you're fifty.

1What would be the best kind of music to play to nervous drivers stuck in traffic jam?

A.Rap music.B.Gentle classical music.

C.Cheerful folk music.D.Heavy metal music.

2The word "acute" in paragraph 3 most probably means _______ in the passage.

A.powerfulB.controllable

C.complexD.opposite

3Which of the following statements about music is true according to the passage?

A.Pop music improves students' academic performance.

B.Music has magic power to change musicians' personality.

C.Music generally influence people's thoughts and emotions.

D.Sportsmen listen to fast music to relieve their stress before games.

4What can be inferred from the last paragraph?

A.Musical tastes affect our characters to a great extent.

B.We have to find ways to make the pleasure of music last.

C.We will be fond of different kinds of music as we grow up.

D.A part of our personality and tastes are well developed in our teens.
