Earlier this month，about 300 students at the schoo1 went to a suburb(郊區(qū))of Beijing to have the contest．They were divided into 24  groups．Each group had buyers，slicers  (掌刀)，firemakers．washers and cooks．

“It took us an hour to make the fire．Our eyes had tears from all the smoke and our faces became dirty，”he added．   
When the fires were finally made，the cooks became the busiest people．Huang Lanye made fried celery(芹菜)and ham pickled cabbage(泡菜)and tomato soup．
She was proud of her work．“It’s my first time making Chinese dishes．My group members ate them up in minutes and said they were as delicious as what their parents made!” said the 14-year-old girl．
Finally over ten students were titled “King of Cooking”．Wang Xiaoyue，14，was one of them．“My group got a mark of 98 at the competition，’’Wang said．“We have 1earned a lot while
having so much fun! We are the best!”

The Japanese government has been distributing potassium iodide(碘化鉀)pills to people in the surrounding areas to protect those who may have come in contact with radiation from the power plant. The pills flood the body with healthy potassium iodide. The potassium iodide works to crowd out “bad” iodine in the body that may have been poisoned by radiation.
On Tuesday morning, 750 workers left the Fukushima Daiichi plant. However, 50 workers stayed behind to use sweater to cool the fuel rods. These dedicated employees are risking their own lives to save many others.
On Thursday, officials used helicopters, fire trucks, and water cannons to spray water on the reactors to cool the fuel rods. But it’s not clear whether these efforts were successful. Officials are now working on a power line to restore electricity to the plant. They hope this will help restart the plant’s cooling system and stop the fuel rods from leaking radiation.

Beijing—（13, July） China sent up a new data relay satellite（數(shù)據(jù)中繼衛(wèi)星）, Tianlian I-02, on Monday at the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in South-western Sichuan province．The new satellite will promote the country’s satellite communication network for space docking（對接）．

Civil Affairs and Public Security Departments have been urged to take comprehensive steps to help children who are begging on the nation's streets and are often abused. Premier Wen Jiabao said during his online chat with netizens, China Daily reported.
Wen said he has paid close attention to the ongoing micro blog campaign that calls on concerned netizens to post photos of children begging on the streets in the hope that police will rescue them and return them to their families.
