The w orld will hard ly note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us, 6 living, to be dedicated here to the 7 (finish) work which those who fought here have so far advanced. It is rather for us 8 (devote) here to the great task remain ing before us -- that from these honored dead we should take increased devotion to that cause (事業(yè)), 9 which they were fully devoted -- that we are firmly 10 (determine) that those dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

在定語從句the message that all men ___1___ (create) equal.all mencreate之間是被動關(guān)系,結(jié)合句意此空用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)態(tài)的被動語態(tài),故答案為are created。

此處用形容詞deadliving(活著的)對應(yīng)。

the living活著的人們,故答案為the。

be devoted to致力于---,故答案為to be devoted。

此處是介詞+關(guān)系代詞引導(dǎo)的定語從句,根據(jù)be devoted to,可知答案為to。

be determined that---,下決心---,故答案為determined。

NANCHANG - In the Chinese Lunar Year of the Pig, pigs have attracted a large amount of attention as there has been a huge rise in the price of pork, China’s major meat, resulting in high living costs. China’s pig herd() has shrunk considerably due to multiple factors including an outbreak of African swine fever(非洲豬瘟) and the bad effect of the last market cycle when low pork prices drove many out of business.

Xiong Lijiao, a resident in Nanchang, a major pig-breeding region, said her family eats less pork now. “Prices of pork have doubled, making it much more expensive.” said Xiong. The weekly average price of a carcass-weight hog(胭體瘦肉型生豬) in 16 provincial-level regions was 37. 57 yuan($5. 3) per kg in mid-September, up 94. 1 percent year-on-year, according to the information center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is not only pork prices that are being affected, demand for soybeans, used as food for hogs, as well as other kinds of meat prices are also being affected.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said favorable government policies and market conditions have boosted some farmers’ confidence in restoring production. China has rolled out 17 measures to support hog production since the end of August, and most of them have been carried out. To meet the market gap, China is increasing imports and releasing frozen pork from its central reserves. But eyeing a long-term solution, China is encouraging large-scale pig farming. The industry concentration will further increase with many small and medium-sized breeding companies leaving the business. Despite the current challenges, China’s pig breeding industry is heading toward a more intensive, environmental-friendly and risk-resistant growth model.

1Which is NOT a cause of the rise of the price of pork?

A.The spread of African swine fever.

B.A supply shortage of pork.

C.The high living cost in recent years.

2What kind of phenomenon is described in paragraph 2?

A.Butterfly effect—small change leads to great variation.

B.Buckets effect—the weakest influences the whole.

C.Pygmalion effect—expectation influences performance.

3Which of the following measures can get to the root of the problem?

In 2003, Mary Marggraff was a 47-year-old California mother, devoted to school committees and car pool schedules. But after losing her trusty notebook and buying a new one, she had an inspiration.

“It was blank," says Marggraff, now 64. “What else could I fill it with?" Soon she was thinking about her childhood love of flying, and next thing she knew, she determined to register in flight school. “In my first class, all the students were single men half my age. I felt like a housemother attending a fraternity (兄弟會),but I loved it too much to walk away." she says.

Marggraff earned her first pilot's license in 2005. Six years and four additional licenses later, her addiction to being in the air changed into something grander: a desire to go to space. To move closer to her starry dreams, Marggraff got a part-time job as a mission support representative at Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson's commercial space line. In that role, she attended space related gatherings where she educated people about the future of universe voyages. Though space tourism isn't quite a reality yet, Marggraff has already begun space training in expectation of being on one of Virgin's early flights. "I've completed acceleration force exercises, she says, "which require getting inside a machine, spinning around at 2,500 miles per hour, and trying not to black out."

Marggraff^ training has meant more than getting her wings --- it's expanded her sense of what the future may hold. "It turns out I'm capable of much more than I imagined," she says. "I used to think it'd be a miracle if I got my first license. Now I've completed nearly 1,000 hours of flight! I'm rotten in the kitchen and I burn anything I iron, but if you need someone to land a plane, call me."

1Why did Marggraff register in flight school?

A.To break away from car pool schedules.

B.To fill her new blank notebook.

C.To prove women are equal to men in flying.

D.To pursue her childhood dream of flying.

2What did Marggraff do after earning 5 licenses?

A.She got into space on one of Virgin's early flights.

B.She instructed people in how to make universe voyages.

C.She received space training in preparation for space tourism.

D.She tried in vain to overcome faintness from high speed.

3What does Marggraff benefit from her space training besides getting a license?

A.It proves her a miracle.B.It increases her self-confidence.

C.It wins her a qualification.D.It improves her imagination.

4Which of the following words can best describe Marggraff?

A.Aggressive and hopeful.B.Creative and fragile.

C.Energetic and sensitive.D.Considerate and persistent.
