Hi, everyone. I am Jane. I have a problem and don’t know what to do. So I need your help!

This morning I was ready to review my lessons with my computer in my dormitory, and then Mary, my roommate and best friend, came back with a laptop. She wanted to use my connector, and I did as she asked.

After a while, she took away my headset and opened her laptop. Afterwards she connected to the Internet with my connector. Then something unexpected happened. She used the audio player with the loudspeaker. She entered her QQ Zone and started using the video system to chat with my microphone. Sounds of music, QQ and their talking became louder and louder. She completely ignored that I was there reviewing my lessons.

I could not bear that, so I asked her to be quiet a little, but I failed. At last I had to go away to the classroom. On the way I became angrier and angrier because she was using my things, but never thought about my feeling. She drove me out. I am very sad. Am I her friend? Should I stop our friendship?

【答案】

Jane was annoyed because her friend Mary used her things and interrupted her by chatting online and playing music loudly while she was reviewing lessons, which made her wonder whether she should continue their friendship or not.

In my opinion, what Mary did is too much for anyone in the world to bear. She is too self-centered and obviously cares about nobody, which is unacceptable and harmful.

If I were Jane, I would find time to have a face-to-face talk with Mary. I would tell her all about what I felt and what I thought about her. I would also tell her if she continues doing like that, nobody could put up with it and she would have no friends any more.

Once in my dormitory, there was a boy who acted like Mary too. Other roommates took the same attitude to him as Jane to Mary, but I decided to solve the problem by communicating actively with him. We helped him realize that his behavior was improper and unacceptable. Then he changed and now we are living together happily. It is active communication that helps solve the problem.

【題目】We once had a poster competition in our fifth grade art class.

“You could win prizes,’’ our teacher told us as she wrote the poster information on the blackboard. She passed out sheets of construction paper while continuing, “The first prize is ten dollars. You just have to make sure that the words on the blackboard appear somewhere on your poster.”

We studied the board critically. Some of us looked with one eye and held up certain colors against the blackboard, rocking the sheets to the right or left while we conjured up our designs. Others twisted their hair around their fingers or chewed their erasers while deep in thought. We had plans for that ten-dollar grand prize, each and every one of us. I’m going to spend mine on candies, one hopeful would announce, while another practiced looking serious, wise and rich.

Everyone in the class made a poster. Some of us used parts of those fancy paper napkins, while others used nothing but colored construction paper. Some of us used big designs, and some of us preferred to gather our art tidily down in one corner of our poster and let the space draw the viewer’s attention to it. Some of us would wander past the good students’ desks and then return to our own projects with a growing sense of hopelessness. It was yet another grown-up trick of the sort they seemed especially fond of, making all of us believe we had a fair chance, and then always always rewarding the same old winners.

I believe I drew a sailboat, but I can’t say that with any certainty. I made it. I admired it. I determined it to be the very best of all of the posters I had seen, and then I turned it in.

Minutes passed.

No one came along to give me the grand prize, and then someone distracted me, and I probably never would have thought about that poster again.

I was still sitting at my desk, thinking, What poster? when the teacher gave me an envelope with a ten-dollar bill in it and everyone in the class applauded for me.

【1】What was the teacher’s requirement for the poster?

A. It must appear in time.

B. It must be done in class.

C. It must be done on a construction sheet.

D. It must include the words on the blackboard.

【2】The underlined phrase in paragraph 3 most probably means ________.

A. formed an idea for

B. made an outline for

C. made some space for

D. chose some colors for

【3】After seeing the good students’ designs, some students ________.

A. loved their own designs more

B. thought they had a fair chance

C. put their own designs in a corner

D. thought they would not win the prize

【4】We can infer from the passage that the author ________.

A. enjoyed grown-up tricks very much

B. loved poster competitions very much

C. felt surprised to win the competition

D. became wise and rich after the competition

書面表達

請閱讀下面短文,并按照要求用英語寫一篇150詞左右的文章。

Big or small, rejection affects us all. Harry Potter was rejected. So was The Twilight Saga. If authors J. K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer hadn’t kept trying with publisher after publisher, we’d all have missed out on some great adventures.

Rejection doesn’t have to be about the big thing like not getting into your top college, not making the team, or not getting asked to the prom (舞會). Everyday situations can lead to the feeling of rejection, too, like if your joke doesn’t get a laugh, if no one remembers to save you a seat at the lunch table, or if the person you really like talks to everyone but you.

Feeling rejected is the opposite of feeling accepted. But being rejected (and we will all be at times) doesn’t mean someone isn’t liked, valued, or important. It just means that one time, in one situation, with one person, things didn’t work out.

Rejection hurts. But it’s impossible to avoid it altogether. In fact, you don’t want to— people who become too afraid of rejection might hold back from going after something they want. Sure, they avoid rejection, but they’re also 100% guaranteed to miss out on what they want but won’t try for.

【寫作內(nèi)容】

1. 以約30個詞概括上文的主要內(nèi)容。

2. 以約120個詞就“How to deal with rejection”這一話題發(fā)表你的看法,內(nèi)容包括:

(1) 講述一次你被拒絕的經(jīng)歷; (2) 你當(dāng)時的感受; (3) 你認為應(yīng)該如何正確面對拒絕。

【寫作要求】

作文中可以使用親身經(jīng)歷或虛構(gòu)的故事,也可以參照閱讀材料的內(nèi)容,但不得直接引用原文中的句子。

【評分標準】

概括準確,語言規(guī)范,內(nèi)容合適,語篇連貫。
