I’m a huge book lover but like sharing my love for books! So I’ve been buying books frequent. Finishing reading one book, I often placed it in or around my school. In that case, some of my schoolmate can help themselves to a book. I especially like placing it on the only stone table in our school garden, in it students may have time to take up a rest. It was until last weekend that I saw a card leaving on the table to say thanks. And from the card, I knew my book turned out to be a birthday gift for a strange girl. I was so happy to find that my book could bring anyone pleasure!

【題目】A Diet Without Enough Protein Can Cause Depression
Depression is a condition so common. 【1】 The World Health Organization (WHO) calls it “a leading cause of disability.” Difficulty in falling asleep, loss of appetite, and loss of ability to concentrate are just a few of the other effects of depression. While life events such as the loss of a spouse or a job may create a happening of depression, many cases come from within, such as people’s diet.
As is reported, both before and during a happening of depression, those with the condition show a “poor appetite”. 【2】 On the other hand, depression may be closely related to protein. Many cases of depression happen to those who don’t eat properly, which then result in lack of protein taken into the body.
【3】 It all comes down to amino acids (氨基酸). Proteins are made up of amino acids. Both the human brain and nervous system use amino acids as a substance that creates a signal from one brain cell to another or one nerve cell to another. With them communication between the cells becomes possible.
【4】 But eight of them, the “essential” ones for communication between the brain cells, must be eaten in one’s diet. So a diet which is lacking in protein lessens the signal being sent from one brain cell to the next during a thought. The process can lead to twisted signals, which can not only lead to depression, but also aggression. 【5】
A. It happens with aggression.
B. It may lead to serious effects.
C. But how lack of protein occurs?
D. There are 20 different amino acids.
E. But what does protein have to do with depression?
F. The poor appetite itself can create a depressed mood.
G. This is why depression can often express itself as anger or aggression.

【題目】 Just ask any new parent: Adding a baby to a household can also add stress to a career. Now,a new study backs that up with some astonishing numbers: After science, technology, engineering, and mathematics(STEM)professionals become parents,43%of women and 23% of men switch fields, transition(轉(zhuǎn)變)to part-time work,or leave the workforce entirely.
Many researchers and parents already knew that STEM can be unwelcoming to parents, particularly mothers. But“the considerable departure was astonishing,”says Erin Cech,an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and lead author of the study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. For both genders,“the proportions were higher than we expected. ”
The surprisingly high reduction rate for men also highlights that“parenthood in STEM is not just a mothers'issue;it's a worker issue,”Cech says. She hopes that the findings“might motivate changes,"such as more paid parental leave from both government and employers and policies that better support flexible work time without a tight routine. “We are not suggesting that people who want families should avoid STEM;that's not the solution,”she emphasizes.
By 2018,78% of new fathers were still working in STEM,the vast majority full time. For new mothers,68% were still in STEM,but only 57% worked full time. For professionals without children,on the other hand,84% of men and 76% of women were predicted to still be working in STEM full time in 2018. For the new parents across all fields,16% of women were working part-time and 15% had left the workforce,as compared with just 2% and 3%,respectively,for men. These sharp differences make clear that, even though the reduction rate for fathers is higher than expected, mothers still face particular career challenges.
【1】What makes many STEM employees change their jobs?
A. Worrying about their family.B. The attraction of part-time jobs.
C. Being tired of the former jobs.D. The heavy burden at home and work.
【2】Which statement may Erin Cech agree with?
A. Working at home may be a popular choice.
B. Increasing welfare may keep STEM parents.
C. People with families should leave STEM.
D. STEM professionals should obey the rules.
【3】How many new mothers among the labor force worked full time in 2018?
A. 69%.B. 76%
C. 57%.D. 31%.
【4】What does the author want to stress by listing the sharp differences?
A. Too many fathers leave STEM.B. It's hard for mothers to make a balance.
C. STEM jobs are no longer popular.D. It's impossible to have a successful career.

If anyone had told me three years ago that I would be spending most of my weekends camping. I would have laughed heartily. Campers, in my eyes, were people who enjoyed insect bites, ill-cooked meals, and uncomfortable sleeping bags. They had nothing in common with me. 【1】.
The friends who introduced me to camping thought that it meant to be a pioneer. 【2】 We sleep in a tent, cooked over an open fire, and walked a long distance to take the shower and use the bathroom. This brief visit with Mother Nature cost me two days off from work, recovering from a bad case of sunburn and the doctor’s bill for my son’s food poisoning.
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another fun-filled holiday in the wilderness. 【3】 Instead, we had a pop-up camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My nature-loving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.
【4】 We have done a lot of it since. Recently, we bought a twenty-eight-foot travel trailer complete with a bathroom and a built-in TV set. There is a separate bedroom, a modern kitchen with a refrigerator. The trailer even has matching carpet and curtains.
【5】 It must be true that sooner or later, everyone finds his or her way back to nature. I recommend that you find your way in style.

【題目】閱讀下面短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
An old proverb says, "Overcome evil by doing good." I read the news and see people who behead(將……斬首)others in the Middle East, abuse maids and domestic workers in Hong Kong, steal money and misuse power in government (not only in China but in the U.S. and every other part of the world), those who claim certain social ideals while privately practicing greed and living lifestyles that totally contradict their so-called 'ideals.' I only see the headlines and rarely read the stories. It is too depressing.
So, what do you do when there is so much evil in the world? What can YOU do about it?
There's only one thing that I know to do. I know (and feel it deep in my heart) to do good.
My way of overcoming evil in the world is too invest in the lives of Chinese children. I do this every day. I love 'giving back'. I love taking the money I earn and investing back into the lives of children. I will create a language learning lab in a public high school's international department (I already bought four new computers for it this week). The students need the tools to work on their English exams and prepare for TOEFL, IELTS and the SAT. There's no provision for them to have such a resource right now, so, rather than complain about it not being done, I decided, 'why don't I do something about it.' I know that I can and just decided to do it. It isn't anything great, but it will make a difference in the lives of some.

2、作文中不能出現(xiàn)真實(shí)的姓名和學(xué)校名稱。
