【題目】書面表達(dá)(共1小題)

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求用英語寫一篇150詞左右的作文。

A young man was slapped in the face until he bled because he didn’t offer his seat to a woman with a baby on a bus in downtown Hangzhou.Later he was proved to be a disabled person.

In a series of cases nationwide, we see people being beaten for refusing to give up their seats on public transport, which seems to be a moral problem about correct behavior and self-sacrifice.

People without morals (who don’t give up their seats to deserving people) can be condemned, but they don’t deserve to be treated with violence because they offend moral values and not laws.In comparison, the attackers behave worse.

The attackers regard relying on violence as their only choice if people ignore their appeals to give up their seats. It seems they start a shout or a fight for the sake of justice, but can they still think of their personal intention when they call violent justice?

This “violent justice” can confuse many people and encourage them to do the same, especially when we are overpowered by illogical mood.

If cruel and rude acts are rooted in children’s hearts, society will never step into civilization. The practice violates common values, neither solving problems nor safeguarding civilized society.

(3) 就如何創(chuàng)建和諧社會(huì)提出你的建議。

注意:

2.作文中不能出現(xiàn)真實(shí)姓名和學(xué)校名稱。

【題目】Revealed to the world by the famous British explorer, Dr David Livingstone, in 1855, the Victoria Falls are one of Africas best-known natural wonders. They form a natural border between Zimbabwe (津巴布韋) and Zambia (贊比亞).

The falls are named after Queen Victoria by Livingstone. They were known to the native people in the 18th century as: "the smoke that thunders". The waterfall is formed as the two-kilometer-wide Zambezi River spills (濺) over the edge of its giant stone riverbed and falls into the gorge (山谷) below. At their highest point, the Victoria Falls drop a distance of 108m, almost twice as far as the Niagara Falls. As much as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute falls over the edge from that height.

Viewing the falls from the Zambian side means that visitors can follow a path that goes right up to the falls. The falls can also be viewed from the Boiling Pot, right in the depths of the gorge at the bottom of the falls. The 111-meter-high Victoria Falls Bridge, a railway crossing, is now a popular place for Bungee jumping. It can be crossed on foot for excellent views of the falls and the winding blue-green waters of the Zambezi River. It is also possible to see the falls from a plane.

The area around the falls is a major game-viewing place. The best time to view the Victoria Falls is between December and July, when the water level is the highest. Contact Addresses Tourist Centre, Livingstone, Zambia Tel: (03) 321 404E-mail: zntb@zamnet.zm Website: www.zambiatourism.com。

【題目】Clara Barton, born on Christmas in 1821, is widely known as one of the most honored women in American history. She began teaching school when most teachers were men at that time. Later, she became one of the first women ever to be employed by the government.

Her career in helping the sick began when her brother David became her first patient. He fell down from the roof of a house when Clara was just 11 years old. She stayed by his side and looked after him for three years, learning how to give him all his medicines.

When the Civil War began in 1861, she immediately recognized that the poorly equipped soldiers needed help. Instead of waiting for others to step in, Clara collected necessary things on her own, asked the public for donations and learned how to store and distribute them to soldiers. She also read to the soldiers and wrote letters for them.

After the Battle of Cedar Mountain in northern Virginia in 1862, Clara arrived at a field hospital at midnight with a vehicle full of supplies. A doctor named Paul Smith at that hospital would later write, “I thought heaven had sent out an angel that night her assistance arrived at exactly the right time.”

In 1869, Clara went to Europe and learned about the International Committee of the Red Cross. Upon her return to the United States, she successfully founded the American Red Cross. She led the organization for the next 23 years. Her last field mission (使命) as president of the American Red Cross was to help the victims of the 1900 Galveston hurricane. She did not retire (退休) from the American Red Cross until she was 83. True to her nature, Clara always went to where the need was the greatest.

Today, the American Red Cross continues the mission Clara started more than 100 years ago. With the help of thousands of volunteers, the American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters, as well as helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to all sorts of emergencies.

【題目】閱讀理解。

Encouragement and praise can come in many forms, and some ways are better for children’s development than others.Researchers at the University of Chicago who studied mother-child interactions over the course found that the type of praise children receive affects their attitudes toward challenges later in life.Specifically, praise coming with feedback about their behavior that kids made helped them to deal better with difficult experiences five years later, compared with compliments that focused more on the child himself, like “You’re a good boy.”

“This is something we suspected would be the case based on a lot of experimental research, and it’s exciting to see it plays out in the real world,” says Elizabeth,a professor of psychology at Temple University, who led the study.“Praising the efforts, actions and work of the kid is going to be more beneficial in their long-term persistence and work hard in the future.”

Such “process praise” includes comments such as “You worked really hard” or “You’re doing a great job,” which emphasize the child’s actions.“Person praise” includes comments like “You’re so smart” or “You’re so good,” which focus on a child’s inherent qualities. These distinctions aren’t new in the field of psychology, but exactly how they affect children’s development over the years hasn’t been clear.

As part of the study, researchers visited the homes of more than 50 toddlers between the age of 1 and 3 years old,and filmed their daily interactions with their parents during multiple 90-minute sessions.Five years later, the researchers followed up with the families, using questionnaires to measure the children’s attitudes toward challenges and problem solving. The children who grew up with more process praise were more open to challenge, and could identify more ways of overcoming difficult problems. While person praise didn’t seem to have any negative effect on the children, process praise teaches children that their talents and abilities can be developed and improved, while person praise sends the message that their abilities are fixed and therefore not easily changed.

【1】Which of the following statements is NOT true?

A.Praising inspires kids to form good personal quality.

B.Praising kids is tested to be effective in the long run.

C.The process of praising kids experiment is suspected.

D.The praising experiment is carried out in real situation.

【2】The underlined word “distinctions” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to .

A.condition B.differences

C.exception D.appearance

【3】From the last paragraph we can learn that .

A.kids should not be praised too frequently

B.different kids should be praised differently

C.process praise is less effective as we expected

D.kids with process praise tend to be more creative

【4】What is the main purpose of the passage?

A.To introduce a better way to praise kids.

B.To compare two different praising ways.

C.To predict the result of process praising.

D.To report the way of praising experiment.
