A broad smile spreads across the faces of Martyn Sibley and Srin Madipalli when asked where they were when they decided to launch an online lifestyle magazine for disabled people.“On the beach.”they reply.“We’ve both travelled a lot but we wanted a real adventure,”Sibley says of the California road trip during which Disability Horizons was conceived(設(shè)想).

Sibley, whose professional background is in marketing, has been writing his own blog since 2009“about what I got up to,everyday stuff about living with disability”,he says.He describes how while“wandering on the beach together”Madipalli suggested branching out beyond a oneperson blog.

Why did they want to create a“l(fā)ifestyle”magazine for the disabled people? The pair, both in their 20s,say they wanted to produce something“positive and inspiring”that would tell about the lives of disabled people as they actually were. They were especially eager to produce something that showed young disabled people“what it was possible to do with their lives”,says Sibley.

In less than a year,Disability Horizons has had more than 50 regular contributors and attracted a reader base of more than 20,000 people, more than a third of whom are in the US.

Sibley and Madipalli have a genetic disease that causes progressive muscle wasting and loss of movement. They are wheelchair users and have been good friends since growing up in London and Cambridge.Listening to them joke,it makes perfect sense that their shared optimistic outlook has spilled over into the magazine. The site covers topics ranging from books and travel to clubbing and photography.“It’s definitely a mix.”Madipalli says.

Having a happier life is something we all always struggle for. One of the key foundations of that is to be consistent in doing things that bring happiness. 1. Consider these 4 habits:

1. Laugh in the middle of a busy day.

It’s 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon and you’re desperate to leave, for school. On top of the homework, you’re running close to super important deadline. 2. Just take a moment to laugh. You should laugh more often, especially on a busy day.

2. Do not compare yourself to others.

Measure your own successes based on your progress and only yours. 3. No one is better than any one else.

3. Find time to work out regularly and eat well.

Exercise can produce tons of feel-good hormones(荷爾蒙). 4. Feeding your body with whole and nutritious foods, on the other hand, can positively affect your body in both short and long term. Find time to schedule in a workout even if it’s only thirty minutes and do something you love. Eat well because foods can help you stay focused and more energized, and happier as a whole.

4. End each day with gratitude.

5. It might be something as small as a child’s laugh or something as huge as a praise from the headmaster. Whatever it is, be grateful for that day because it will never come again.

A. All of our lives are unique.

B. Surround you with people who matter.

C. Don’t blame everything not going your way.

D. Try to think you are better than anyone else.

E. Develop right habits to ensure we live a happy life.

F. These hormones can help avoid stress and depression.

G. Just before you go to bed, write down at least one wonderful thing that happened.

I love camping. It’s my favourite way to spent the summer vacation. Last year, my family and I went camping in the countryside. It was one of the most excited experiences I had never had. We slept in a tent and went on a long walk every day. We cook over a fire and the food always tasted wonderfully. For a whole week, I saw lovely mountain views or breathed fresh air. At night, I heard the gentle wind blowing in the tree, and I felt so peaceful. It doesn’t cost many to camp, and what I believe it’s the best way to get close nature and enjoy its beauty.
