In most Chinese tea villages, March is the time of year in locals start to pick and process tea. The usually quiet villages suddenly become busy centers of activity, as people take out special tools and prepare tea processing. 【題目】It seems that electronic devices just keep getting smaller. Scientists in the United States have announced the creation of the first transistor with only two dimensions(二維).

A transistor is a small electronic device that transfers or carries electronic current. Scientists hope these new 2D transistors will be used for building high-resolution(高分辨率)displays that need very little energy.

Two groups of scientists created these 2D transistors. They report that the transistors are only a few atoms thick.

Usually transistors are made with the element silicon(硅). Computer processors, memory chips, TV screens and other electronic devices contain billions of silicon-based transistors. But these very small electrical parts have certain limitations.

Dimitris Ioannou is an electrical engineering professor at George Mason University. He says the traditional transistor has been improved as much as it can be.He adds that researchers have been looking for new materials with special features and they want transistors to be seen through and soft.

“If the layers are very thin, the transistor can become flexible, so it doesn't have to be rigid(堅(jiān)硬的), like it would be in a silicon chip. So people can think of applications like wearable electronics, television screens and other things,” said Ioannou.

These new transistors can also carry higher current. They also can move the current much faster than traditional transistors. This is important for high-definition screens.

Dimitris Ioannou says the scientific success could prove very useful in the future. "Now, how good and how useful it will be, it's still in the stage of research, but it certainly is an advance," said Ioannou.

1Which of the following statements about the newly created transistor is TRUE?

A. They are expected to be used in high-resolution displays.

B. The transistors are made with the element silicon.

C. They are rigid, just like traditional transistors.

D. They have already been put into actual use.

2What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 5 mean?

A. The traditional transistors have been changed into two-dimensional ones.

B. Many of the traditional transistors have been improved over the years.

C. The traditional transistor has been developed to its fullest.

D. The traditional transistor has been developed quite well.

3What is Dimitris Ioannou's attitude towards the creation of the new transistors?

A. Negative. B. Neutral.

C. Indifferent. D. Positive.

【題目】Blind imitation is self-destruction. To those who do not recognize their own unique worth, imitation appears attractive; to those who know their strength, imitation is unacceptable.

In the early stages of skill or character development, imitation is helpful. When I first learned to cook, I used recipes and turned out some tasty dishes. But soon I grew bored. Why follow someone else’s way of cooking when I could create my own? Imitating role models is like using training wheels on a child’s bicycle; they help you get going, but once you find your own balance, you fly faster and farther without relying on them.

In daily life, imitation can hurt us if we subconsciously (下意識(shí)地)hold poor role models. If, as a child, you observed people whose lives were bad, you may have accepted their fear and pain as normal and gone on to follow what they did. If you do not make strong choices for yourself, you will get the results of the weak choices of others.

In the field of entertainment, our culture praises and admires celebrities. Those stars look great on screen. But when they step off screen, their personal lives may be disastrous. If you are going to follow someone, focus on their talent, not their bad character or unacceptable behaviors.

Blessed is the person willing to act on their sudden desire to create something unique. Think of the movies, books, teachers, and friends that have affected you most deeply. They touched you because their creations were motivated by inspiration not desperation. The world is changed not by those who do what has been done before them, but by those who do what has been done inside them. Creative people have an endless resource of ideas. The problem a creator faces is not running out of material; it is what to do with the material knocking at the door of imagination.

Study your role models, accept the gifts they have given, and leave behind what does not serve you. Then you can say, “I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors’ tragedies and declare victory, and know that they are cheering me on.”

1Imitation proves useful when you _______.

A. know you are unique B. lose the balance of life

C. begin to learn something new D. get tired of routine practice

2To avoid the bad result of imitation, we should _______.

A. forget daily fear and pain B. choose the right role models

C. ask others for decisions D. stay away from stars

3According to the author, the world moves on because of those who are _______.

A. desperate to influence others with their knowledge

B. ready to turn their original ideas into reality

C. eager to discover what their ancestors did

D. willing to accept others’ ideas

4What is the author's purpose in writing this passage?

A. To highlight the importance of creativity.

B. To criticize the characters of role models.

C. To compare imitation with creation.

D. To explain the meaning of success.
