根據(jù)下文 “_ 37_ this time I was not happy.” We couldn't have had worse news. How beautiful she sings! I have never heard a better voice.
上文中 “l(fā)iked”與 “not happy” 構(gòu)成轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系 連詞要用but。
小題3:A。 因此,此處所填的形容詞應(yīng)與 “when a young man wants respect not charity” 所表達(dá)的意思相同。 這也與下文中的 “I was filled with pride” 相吻合。
just:剛剛、恰好;ever:曾經(jīng);thus:因此。
guess認(rèn)為,猜想;figure 料想,估計(jì),后接that從句,不接whether從句。
小題7:A。
根據(jù)下文 “We paid our debts.But before harvest,cash was short.”和文章的最后一句“a decent person who kept his word and respect at himself”可知答案為honest。
小題11:A. 由首句 “One summer day my father sent me to buy wire for our farm”可知,我去商店買電線,名詞purchases意思為“購(gòu)買之物”,這里指wire。
小題13:A. 由下一句“But Buck’s face didn’t change.” give sb a  look:看某人一眼;give sb a stare:瞪某人一眼;response反應(yīng);與make搭配,不與give搭配。comment:評(píng)價(jià),做評(píng)論是make a comment,不是give a comment。
point to: 指向。reply to:回答。
in a neighborly way: 一種友好的方式。in a sense:在某種意義上。to a degree: 達(dá)到某種程度。in the mood for (doing)sth / to do sth:有做某事的想法。
My family had earned是定語從句修飾先行詞name,省去了關(guān)系代詞that或which.。 earn the good name表示蠃得名聲。
本題考查對(duì)too?to結(jié)構(gòu)的理解。

In a moment of personal crisis, how much help can you expect from a New York taxi driver? I began studying this question and answers are interesting.
One morning, I got into three different taxis and announced,“Well,it's my first day back in New York in seven years.I've been in prison.”Not a single driver replied,so I tried again.“Yeah,I shot a man in Reno.”I explained, hoping the driver would ask me why, but nobody asked. The only response came from a Ghanaian driver,“Reno? That is in Nevada?”
Taxi drivers were uniform sympathetic when I said I'd just been fired.“This is America,”a Haitian driver said.“One door is closed.Another is open.”He argued against my plan to burn down my boss' s house.A Pakistani driver even turned down a chance to profit from my loss of hope;he refused to take me to the middle of the George Washington Bridge—a $20 trip.“Why do you want to go there? Go home and relax.Don't worry.Take a new job.”
One very hot weekday in July, while wearing a red ski mask and holding a stuffed pillowcase with the word “BANK” on it, I tried calling a taxi five times outside different banks. The driver picked me up every time.My ride with a Haitian driver was typical of the superb assistance I received.
“Let's go across the park,” I said.“I just robbed the bank there.I got $25,000.”
“$25,000?” he asked.
“Yeah, you think it was wrong to take it?”
“No, man.I work 8 hours and I don't make almost $70.If I can do that,I will do it too.”
As we approached 86th and Lexington, I pointed to the Chemical Bank.
“Hey,there is another bank,”I said,“Could you wait here a minute while I go inside?”
“No,I can't wait.Pay me now.” His unwillingness may have had something to do with money—taxi drivers think the rate for waiting time is too low—but I think he wanted me to learn that even a bank robber can't expect unconditional support.
小題1:From the Ghanaian driver's response, we can infer that________.
A.he was afraid of the author
B.he thought the author was crazy
C.he looked down upon the author
D.he was indifferent to the killing
小題2:Why did the Pakistani driver refuse to take the author to the middle of the George Washington Bridge?
A.Because he was able to help the author to find a new job.
B.Because he wanted to go home and relax.
C.Because he thought that the author would commit suicide.
D.Because it was far away from his home.
小題3:In the author's opinion, the driver's unwillingness to wait outside the Chemical Bank indicates________.
A.the driver thought it wrong to support a taxi rider unconditionally
B.the driver was frightened and wanted to leave him as soon as possible
C.the driver did not want to help a suspect to escape from a bank robbery
D.the driver thought that the rate for waiting time was too low
小題4:Which of the following statements is TRUE about New York taxi drivers?
A.They are ready to help you do whatever you want to.
B.They are sympathetic with those who are out of work.
C.They refuse to pick up those who would kill themselves.

小題5:The passage mainly discusses________.

I once had a friend that was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the news that he might only live up to six months was a great shock to him, his family, and his friends. However, in spite of the serious illness, he was initially determined to look into all available treatments that might cure or extend his life. I think that when you find yourself in such situations, you tend to look up every possible way for hope of saving your life.
As months went on and his health grew worse, I noticed an unexpected change in attitude that came over him. He had also been a happy person with a cheerful personality, but rather than give in to discouragement and self-pity, he took comfort in God and humanity. His talks focused on others rather than himself, and he spoke of the afterlife as something he was prepared for, believing that his concerned ancestors, including his mother and father, were there waiting for him.
During the last few months, weeks, and days of his life, he was kindly cared for by family, friends, his loving wife, who looked after both his physical and emotional needs, and workers from a local hospice (安養(yǎng)院) came to the home to regulate his medication and provide any other needed support. He didn't complain about his fate, and he willingly allowed others to serve him.
Indeed, one might think why God allows death and suffering in our world, but for me, such experiences taught me to value family more and kindness for others. You often can't learn these important attributes in the lap of luxury, and perhaps, such an experience is the greatest and final gift the illness can give those left behind.

The best part of my job was to see people coming       the hotel. When they recognized me, they       share their adventures, burdens, even thoughts with me. It means the world to me.
I spent there 8 months and it was a period when I was proud to be who I am.

One day, a well-known speaker was invited to give a lecture to an audience of 200. He started his lecture by       a $ 20 bill. He looked around the room, and asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?”      started going up.
He said, “I am going to       this $20 to one of you, but first, let me do this.” He crumpled up (揉皺) the 20-dollar bill. He then asked, “Who       wants it?” Still the hands were       in the air.
“Well”, he replied,“    I do this ?” And he dropped it on the       and started to step on it with his shoes. He picked it up. Now it was crumpled and       .
“Now, who wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.
“My friends, we have all learned a very       lesson. No matter what I did to the       , you still want it because it doesn’t decrease in     . It is still worth $20, with       we can buy what we need.
Many times in our lives, we are     , and trampled underfoot by the decision we      and the circumstances that come our way. We feel     we were worthless. But no matter what has happened or what may happen to us, you will never       your value. Dirty or clean, you are still priceless to those who do love you. The worth of our lives is determined not by       we do or who we know, but by who we are. You are      . Don’t ever forget it.”
If you       this lesson in mind, it will help you to       again when you fall. Each time it makes you grow much stronger.
