閱讀下面的故事,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
One beautiful spring day a red rose came out in a forest. As it looked around, a pine tree nearby said, “What a beautiful flower! I wish I was that lovely.” Another tree said, “Don’t be sad, we can’t have everything.”
The red rose looked at a cactus (仙人掌)and said, “What an ugly plant full of thorns (刺)!” The pine tree said, “Red rose, what kind of talk is this? Who can say what beauty is? You have thorns too.”
The proud red rose looked angrily at the pine and said, “You don’t know what beauty is. You can’t compare me to a cactus.”
Spring passed, and the weather became very warm. Life became difficult as no rain fell. The red rose was dying. One day the red rose saw birds suck water from the cactus. “Doesn’t it hurt when they bite into the cactus?” asked the red rose.
“Yes, but the cactus does not like to see any birds suffer”, replied the pine. “The birds can bring water to you if you ask the cactus for help.”
But the red rose felt too ashamed of its past words to ask.

A proud rose thinks that it’s superior to other plants in the forest because of its beauty. But it later learns that beauty is not the only thing when it sees the cactus helping thirsty birds.
This story teaches us that we should not judge people or things based only on their appearance. There are other characteristics such as kindness and intelligence that are even more important. Beauty is only a superficial attraction but it doesn’t show what is in a person’s heart.
When I was in primary school a boy was often teased by his classmates because of his poor clothes. They judged him only on the surface but I knew he was very kind and honest. He was excellent at maths and would often help me with my lessons after school. Although his family had little money he refused to take any money from my parents for his help because he said “I help you because you are my friend not because I want your money.” I was very touched by his words and was ashamed of what my classmates had done to him.

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
When I was a teenager, my dad did everything he could to advise me against becoming a brewer(啤酒制造者). He didn’t even want me anywhere near a vat(釀酒用的桶). So I did as he asked. I got good grades and went to Harvard.
In the second year, I began to realize that I’d never done anything but go to school. So, at 24 I decided to drop out (輟學(xué))for some time. Obviously, my parents didn’t think this was a great idea. But I felt strongly that one can’t wait till he is 65 to do what he wants to in life. Having worked for 2 years, I went back to Harvard to continue my study.
After graduation, I got a highly-paid job in Boston. After working there five years, I wondered, “Is this what I want to be doing when I’m 50?” At that time, Americans spent good money on beer in low quality. Why not make good beer for Americans? I thought.
I decided to quit my job to become a brewer. When I told Dad, he was astonished, but in the end he supported me. Six weeks later, at the Great American Beer Festival, my Sam Adams Boston Lager(淡啤酒) won the top prize for American beer. In the end I was destined(注定) to be a brewer. My advice to the young is simple: decide by yourselves not your seniors what you should do for a life when you are young.

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
Years ago in Scotland Clark and his wife worked and saved, making plans for their family to travel to the United States. Finally they had saved enough money and gotten passports. The entire family were filled with excitement. However, before their departure, the youngest son was bitten by a dog. The doctor sewed up(縫合) the boy but hung a yellow sheet on the Clarks’ front door. Because of the possibility of rabies(狂犬病), they were separated for fourteen days.
The family’s dream was dashed(破滅). They would not be able to make the trip to America as they planned. The father, filled with disappointment and anger, wept bitter tears and cursed(咒罵)both his son and God for their misfortune.
Five days later, the tragic(悲劇的,悲慘的) news spread throughout Britain — Titanic, which was on her maiden(首次的) voyage on April 14,1912, had sunk, taking hundreds of lives with it. The Clark family should have been on that ship, but because the son had been bitten by a dog, they were left behind.
When Mr. Clark heard the news, he hugged his son and thanked him for saving the family. He thanked God for turning what he had felt was a tragedy(悲劇,慘劇) into a blessing(賜福,幸事).

科目:高中英語 來源:2010-2011學(xué)年廣東省中山市實驗高中高三上學(xué)期12月月考英語卷 題型:書面表達
閱讀下面的短文,然后按要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
“Can I see my baby?” asked the happy new mother. The bundle(嬰兒包)was placed in her arms and when she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped-the baby has been born without ears. Time, however, proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect except his appearance.
One day when he rushed home from school and threw himself into his mother’s arms, he cried out bitterly, “A boy, a big boy… called me a f-…freak.” She sighed, knowing that his life was to be endless of heartbreaks.
He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift for literature and music.
The boy’s father had a talk with the family doctor. Could nothing be done? “I believe we could graft(移植)on a pair of outer ears, if they could be donated,” the doctor decided. So the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice a young man. Two years went by. Then, “You’re going to the hospital, son. Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need. But it’s a secret,” said the father.
The operation was a brilliant success. His talents blossomed (開花)into genius. School and college became a series of successes. Later he married and entered the diplomatic(外交)service. “But I must know!” he urged his father. “Who gave so much for me? I could never do enough for him.”
“I do not believer you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know….not yet.” The years kept the secret, but the day did come…. one of the darkest days that ever pass through a son. He stood with his father over his mother’s casket(棺材).Slowly and tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish-brown hair to let out the secret.

(2009.廣東卷) 讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)
閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。
Jackie is perhaps the most easily annoyed koala(考拉)at the Featherdale Wildlife Park in southern Australia. All the koalas there are unhappy and complaining. You would be too if you were used to night activities and someone kept waking you up all day while you were trying to sleep it off. That’s right—sleep it off. The average koala is always half asleep because it feeds on the leaves of a special kind that makes it sleepy.
The reason Jackie and her fellow koalas are repeatedly awoken from their deep sleep is so they can be hugged and photographed by tourists, who make the trips to Featherdale and an increasing number of other national parks for just that special experience. Whatever department in the Aussie government in charge of such things is now moving to make the practice illegal, which is understandable. How would you react,my friend,if you were trying to sleep off a dozen times and some round, furry creature smelling of grass kept waking you?
