Taking parts in recreation activities help us keep fit. There are different kinds of activity in our daily life, for example, listening to music, watching TV, playing chess, or going to cinema. But I think we’d better to have more outdoor activities. As students, we usually sit too longer in the classroom, and as a result our eyes and brains getting tired. But it is a good idea to play ball games, go swimming, do some runnings, or even go for a picnic. Our brains also need changes to make itself smart and active. In a word, exercise is good for health.
1. parts-part
2. help-helps
3. activity-activities
4. cinema前加the
5. to have---have
6. longer-long
7. getting-get
8. But-So
9. runnings-running
10. itself-themselves
短語(yǔ)take part in參加。
【4】to后面加the 考查固定短語(yǔ)。短語(yǔ)go to the cinema去看電影。
短語(yǔ)had better do sth最好坐某事;had better的后面直接加動(dòng)詞原形,不需要to。
本句轉(zhuǎn)換主語(yǔ)是our eyes and brains,get在句中做謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞,而getting屬于非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞,不能單獨(dú)在句中作謂語(yǔ)。
【8】But改為So 考查連詞。
短語(yǔ)do some running跑步,類(lèi)似的結(jié)構(gòu)還有do some shopping等。
本句的主語(yǔ)是our brains,所以使用反身代詞themselves作為動(dòng)詞make賓語(yǔ)。

At thirteen, I was diagnosed(診所) with kind of attention disorder. It made school difficult for me. When everyone else in the class was focusing on tasks, I could not.
In my first literature class, Mrs. Smith asked us to read a story and then write on it, all within 45 minutes. I raised my hand right away and said,“Mrs.Smith, you see, the doctor said I have attention problems. I might not be able to do it.”
She glanced down at me through her glasses, “you are no different from your classmates, young man.”
I tried, but I didn’t finish the reading when the bell rang. I had to take it home.
In the quietness of my bedroom, the story suddenly all became clear to me. It was about a blind person, Louis Braille. He lived in a time when the blind couldn’t get much education. But Louis didn’t give up. Instead, he invented a reading system of raised dots(點(diǎn)), which opened up a whole new world of knowledge to the blind.
Wasn’t I the “blind” in my class, being made to learn like the “sighted” students? My thoughts spilled out and my pen started to dance. I completed the task within 40 minutes. Indeed, I was no different from others; Ijust needed a quieter place. If Louis could find his way out of his problems, why should I ever give up?
I didn’t expect anything when I handled in my paper to Mrs.Smith, so it was quite a surprise when it came back to me the next day—with an“A” on it. At the bottom of the paper were these words:“See what you can do when you keep trying?”

Dog owners now have a little help understanding their angry friends. A new device called Bow-Lingual “translates” dog barks into English, Korea or Japanese.
Bow-Lingual’s Japanese inventors spent much time and money analyzing dog barks. They found that dog noises can be broken down into six different emotions: happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, assertion and desire. Part of the Bow-Lingual device hangs on the dog’s collar. The other part is a handle-held unit for the owner. When the dog barks, the unit displays translated phrases.
Some people have scoffed at Bow-Lingual. “Who would pay US $ 120 to read a dog’s mind?” they ask, but those who have purchased Bow-Lingual praise the device. Pet owner Keiko Egawa, of Japan, says it helps her empathize with her dog, Harry. “Before we go to the park, he always says he wants to play,” says Egawa, “and after a walk, he always says he is hungry. ”
Bow-Lingual is not yet available in Chinese. So you’d better keep studying Studio Classroom, or soon your dog may know more English than you do!

Could your cellphone give you cancer? Whether it could or not, some people are worrying about the possibility that phones, power lines and wi-fi could be responsible for a range of illnesses, from rashes to brain tumors.
Some say there is evidence to support the growing anxieties. David Carpenter, a professor of environmental health sciences at the university at Albany, in New York, thinks there’s a greater than 95 percent chance that power lines can cause childhood leukemia (白血病). Also there’s a greater than 90 percent chance that cellphones can cause brain tumors. “It’s apparent now that there’s a real risk,” said Carpenter.
But others believe these concerns are unjustified. Dr Martha Linet, the head of radiation epidemiology(流行病學(xué)) at the US National Cancer Institute, has looked at the same research as Carpenter but has reached a different conclusion. “I don’t support warning labels for cellphones, ” said Linet. “We don’t have the evidence that there’s much danger.”
Studies so far suggest a weak connection between EMFs (電磁場(chǎng)) and illness — so weak that it might not exist at all. A multinational investigation of cellphones and brain cancer, in 13 countries outside the US, has been underway for several years. It’s funded in part by the European Union, in part by a cellphone industry group. The final report should come out later this year, but data so far don’t suggest a strong link between cellphone use and cancer risk.
【1】From the passage we can learn that some people are worried because ________.
A. they have evidence that the use of cellphones can lead to cancer
B. they make a fuss over cellphone use
C. some experts have given a warning
D. cellphones are responsible for brain tumors
【2】By saying “I don’t support warning labels for cellphones,” Dr Martha Linet has the idea that ________.
A. the worrying is unnecessary
B. cancer-warning labels should be on cellphones
C. there is a link between cellphones and cancer
D. cellphones have nothing to do with cancer
【3】Which of the following best describes the attitude of the author towards the debate?
A. Optimistic. B. Objective.
C. Opposite. D. Casual.
【4】What’s the best title of the passage?
A. Cellphones: is there a cancer link?
B. There is a link between cellphone and cancer
C. A research on the cellphone
D. The cellphone and radiation epidemiology
