【答案】good→well

去掉 but

participate 后加 in

a →an

attached →attach

nervously →nervous

ago →before

experiences→experience

去掉what 或者把what →that

receive →receiving

go well進(jìn)展順利,該短語是固定短語,所以good改為well。

opportunity為可數(shù)名詞且opportunity的首字母發(fā)音是元音,所以a 改為an。

Science has just proven what we’ve suspected all along that sitting at a desk all day could be making us fat.According to a new study women who work in an office are consuming a shocking 100,030 extra calories in snacks every year—which can add up to a terrifying two stone in weight gain.Yikes!

The research quizzed 1,000 women who work in offices and revealed that on a typical working day women prefer to have at least three snacks, which adds up to almost 500 calories.

Crisps were named as the top weak point of female workers, with an average of 135 bags eaten at work annually and 45 per cent of those surveyed admitting to having “hidden” food personally in the office.Unsurprisingly biscuits were also a favorite desk snack with 39%admitting to hiding away packets of biscuits and the average woman dipping 135 biscuits in their tea every year.Office“cake culture’’ likely has a role to play in the ninety slices of cake women are wolfing down each year. The study also revealed we’re indulging(放縱)our sweet tooth by ploughing through 90 packets of sweets and 45 doughnuts throughout the working year.

Just over a fifth of female workers admit they have absolutely no willpower when it comes to office treats, while three in ten say they eat the food purely because it's there.Women also mentioned being bored, tired or stressed as common reasons for them to eat more in the office.

The survey revealed that so-called “l(fā)ow fat’’ treats are actually adding to that yearly calorific total, with the average female employee consuming 45 packets of high-fat nuts and another 45 bags of sugary dried fruits, every year. The most popular times to reach for a snack are 10:30 am and 3:30 pm,with 48% of women saying they are always too hungry to wait until lunch.Women also admitted sugary coffees and energy drinks help get them through the day.

【題目】The following simple exercise routine works as well as prescription medication(處方藥) without side effects.

A jog a day could keep your headaches at bay; regular cardio workouts(有氧鍛煉) may prevent migraines(偏頭痛), a growing body of research suggests.

Migraine patients had fewer headaches after doing 40-minute cycling workouts three times a week for three months, according to a Swedish study.

The exercise routine worked just as well as one of the top migraine-preventing drugs—topamirate, but without side effects of depression and tremors(顫抖).

“Cardio workouts can help with regular headaches, too,” says Alexander Mauskop, M.D., director of the New York Headache Center in Manhattan.

There are a couple of theories on how it works.

“Breaking a sweat may relieve stress,” says Dr. Mauskop. Headaches are often triggered by stress, and if you remove the trigger, you release the pain.

The feel-good chemicals produced when you exercise actually block your pain sensors, acting as a natural painkiller.

Since headaches can be caused by many different factors like genetics, lack of sleep, or certain foods, the cardio workout won’t be the solution for everyone, Dr. Mauskop says. But one German study found that it helped 65 percent of patients, which makes it as effective as the best medicines on the market.

Dr. Mauskop recommends his patients do a half-hour reasonable intensity(強(qiáng)度) cardio workout, like jogging, biking, or swimming three times a week. These workouts are meant to be slow and steady, as opposed to high-intensity intervals that alternate between all-out runs and rest.

Pushing yourself too much or increasing the intensity too quickly can trigger headaches in some people, so make sure your heart rate doesn’t jump above 150 BPM. If you don’t have a heart rate monitor, then breathe only through your nose. You’ll know you’re going too hard if you can’t keep up that breathing pattern.

Your migraines could start disappearing in a couple of weeks, Dr. Mauskop says.

1According to the passage, the author may agree that _______.

A. jogging, swimming and fishing are cardio workouts.

B. neither cardio workouts nor topamirate has side effects

C. migraine patients may be cured by regular cardio workouts

D. cardio workouts will be the solution for everyone with migraines

2The underlined word “triggered” in Paragraph 7 can be replaced by _______.

A. cured B. released

C. caused D. monitored

3What would be the best title?

A. A cure for headaches B. Side effects of migraines

C. The causes of headaches D. Advantages of cardio workouts.

【題目】 Bananas are one of the healthiest fruits you can eat, being loaded with protein, fiber, vitamins A, B6, and C, etc. Bananas are delicious on their own as well. But we’re not here today to talk about the banana fruit, but rather its peels. Generally thrown away as waste, banana peels actually bring about different uses.

Starting off with a topical benefit, banana peels are great for relieving the painful itch of bug bites. Science hasn’t figured out why it works, but you can’t argue with results. People who have tried it report that it is really useful.

There are lots of expensive ways to whiten teeth, and a lot of them use bleaching agents which weaken teeth and can cause sensitivity. But guess what? Banana peels can whiten teeth naturally and gently due to their potassium content.

Banana peels contain a lot of antioxidants that are great for your skin. To reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, simply rub a banana peel directly on the affected areas and wash your face 30 minutes later.

It is fiber once again that can lower your cholesterol levels, which is critical to maintaining a healthy heart. Banana peels contain more soluble fiber than the fruit itself, so throwing away the peel wastes a valuable opportunity to bump your intake. And finally, you can actually rub a banana peel on shoes, leather, and silver articles to clean them up and make them shine.

Whether you eat them or use them, banana peels don’t save very well. Once removed from the fruit, they blacken pretty quickly. It's best to prepare and consume banana peels right away. However, one thing is for sure—you will stop throwing these valuable wrappers in the trash after you discover all the incredible things they can do.

1Why can banana peels be used to whiten teeth?

A.They will cause sensitivity to our teeth.

B.They are much cheaper than bleaching agents.

C.They can make our teeth white while doing no harm.

D.The effect is better than any other things.

A.They can stop the bites of some insects.

B.They can clean leather shoes and gold jewellery.

C.They can act as a facial mask and make us look younger.

D.They can keep our heart healthy by increasing our cholesterol levels.

3What should we do with bananas according to the last paragraph?

A.Consume them right away.B.Throw their peels in the trash.

C.Try to save their peels in good condition.D.Make use of their peels soon after being removed.

4What is the best title for the text?

【題目】Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in the blanks to make the passage coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.

To have a fruitful discussion, teachers need to decide what seating arrangement is best for their own class and be prepared to experiment with different methods.1 method is adopted, it should help and be productive of dialogue between children as well as between teacher and child. Within the physical setting, children and teachers should agree 2 a discussion takes place.

Why are rules necessary for discussion? This may be a question to ask the children. If children are given freedom to talk, why are there rules that will restrict that freedom? The golden rule is of course that one’s own freedom 3 not interfere with the freedom of others. Individuals within a democratic community have equal rights. A child who talks all the time 4(deny) the rights of others to be heard. Each person should be allowed an equal chance to speak and to put forward their own point of view and if we wish 5listen) to, then we should listen to others. There is no point giving a point of view 6 someone is listening.7 of us are capable of listening to more than one person at a time, so another basic rule should be: only one person to speak at a time. Listening implies not only hearing the words but paying attention to the meaning of 8 is being said. This is not a natural thing for children to do. School is typically a place where children learn to listen to the teacher but not to each other. The skills of listening need to be practiced. The ideal discussion,9 everyone listens to the speaker and then each is allowed to reply, is rare among adults, let alone children. It works 10 (well) when certain ground-rules for discussion are followed.
