19.When you are in a place where you are hunting for a new job or a career,you will find that there are several things that you should pay attention to.Jobs and careers are fewer than you expect,especially when satisfying employment is something you need to seriously think about.How are you going to find the job that you want and what should you avoid on your way?When you want to make use of your job search,take a moment and think about the things that you must avoid at all costs.
One of the most important rules is never to compromise on the things you ask for or desire or it will badly affect your life and peace of mind.Keep in mind your basic expectations of a dream job.They might be something about money or you might find they have something to do with time off.Whatever they are,make sure that you do not accept a job without them.Your requirements might not be easy to meet,but you have the right to try and achieve them.
What's more,don't shy away from odd(臨時(shí)的)jobs that might actually take you to the place that you want to be in.Sometimes,finding the right job is a matter of luck and chance after you have been searching and putting in a lot of efforts.And if something unexpected happens,remember that taking the chance is of great importance and is something you might want to seriously consider.As long as you keep your goals in mind,you are going to be doing much better than other people during the job search.
If you are looking for the right job,another thing that you can do to make sure that you get the right kind of employment is to market yourself.When you do nothing to push yourself forward,you will be the one suffering for it.If required,give enough encouragement to yourself and try to confidently look at all that you have.Make sure that you can show your skills and abilities.If the jobs that you have set your sights on are challenging,set goals for yourself and work hard at them.The more efforts you put in marketing yourself,the more your chances of obtaining the job you like there will be.
Remember that when you are working on a job search,you should not short-change yourself.This is because you will only harm yourself by setting low goals.
TitleWhat to avoid during your job search
Brief
introduction
Satisfying jobs are fewer than (1)expected.
When you are (2)hunting/lookingfor a job, there are some related things that need your attention.
Important
rules
●Remembering your expectations
Don't compromise on your requirements or it will have a bad (3)effect on your life.
(4)Although/Thoughyour requirements are difficult to meet, you should try hard.
●Taking the chance
Take some odd jobs and this might help you (5)
achieve/reachyour goal finally. When something unexpected happens, taking the chance is a very (6)importantthing that you should consider it seriously.
●(7)Marketingyourself
Never lose (8)confidencewhen you look at what you have and encourage yourself.
Show your skills and abilities.
If the job that you want is a(n)(9)chanllengeset your goals and work hard.
(10)
Conclusion
Don't short-change yourself because low goals may harm yourself.

9.High school dropouts (輟學(xué)者) earn an average of $9,000 less per year than graduates.
Now a new study moves away a common belief why they quit. It's much more than failing in
exams at school.
Society tends to think of high school dropouts as kids who just can't cut it.They are lazy,and perhaps not too bright.So researchers were surprised when they asked more than 450kids who quit school about why they left.
"The vast majority actually had passing grades and they were confident that they could have graduated from high school."John Bridgeland,the executive researcher said.About one million teens leave school each year.Only about half of African-American and Hispanic students will receive a diploma, and actually all dropouts come to regret their decision. So,if failing grades don't explain why these kids quit, what does?Again,John Bridgeland:"The most dependable finding was that they were bored.""They found classes uninteresting; they weren't inspired or motivated. They didn't see any direct connection between what they were learning in the classroom to their own lives,or to their career aspirations."The study found that most teens who do drop out wait until they turn sixteen, which happens to be the age at which most states allow students to quit. In the US,only one state,
New Mexico, has a law requiring teenagers to stay in high school until they graduate.Only
four states:California,Tennessee,Texas and Utah, plus tile District of Columbia, require
school attendance until age 18,no exceptions,another researcher,says raising tile compulsory attendance age may be one way to keep more kids in school.
"As these dropouts look back, they realize they've made a mistake. And anything that sort of gives these people an extra push to stick it out and it through to the end,is probably helpful measure."
New Hampshire may be the next state to raise its school attendance age to 18.But critics
say that forcing the students unwilling to continue their studies to stay in school misses the point--the need for reform.It's been called for to reinvent high school education to make it more challenging and relevant, and to ensure that kids who do stick it out receive a diploma that actually means something.
(Note:Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN 10WORDS)

81.What do people think of those who quit school?Lazy and not bright
82.Many students quit school not because they cannot pass grades but because they find
Lessonsuninteresting and not relevant to real life
83.Why don't some students quit until they are sixteen?Because that's the age to be allowed to quit
84.According to the passage,the more effective way to keep students from quitting is to
reform or reinvent high school education.
