Outside stood a tall man wearing a black raincoat and black rubber boots. He said he was a salesman and asked politely if out mother or father was at home.

Then, as I was about to close the door, he forced his way into our house. He took out a knife and forced me to tie up my brother's hands with some rope which he took out form his pocket. Letter One
Dear Editor,
After I finish my homework, I often go online and chat with my friends. Sometimes I play Internet games. But my parents hate to see me playing games on the computer. Maybe they have heard too much news about how QQ and Internet games harm children. Once I went to a net bar to play games after school. But after that I told my parents that I was playing basketball at school. I said so because I didn't want to make them unhappy. I feel bad about it. However, I need to rest for a while by playing computer games after studying for a long time. I really want my parents to understand that. Do foreign parents do the same to their children? Please help me.
Li Ping, Nantong
Letter Two
Dear Li Ping,
I think it's not strange for parents to keep their children away from anything bad. Foreign parents will do the same as your parents! They may not let their children watch TV for too long a time, or like your parents, they don't want their children to play computer games.
Talk to your parents and be honest to them, I think. Tell them what you are doing and why you are doing so to make them understand you. It's never good to do things behind your parents' backs. They aren't fools as you think sometimes! Our parents seem to know what is the best for us. Remember: to be honest is the best way.
Good luck,
Rebecca

【題目】Although honey is a natural food with many health benefits, you should avoid giving it to your child until they are a year old. This is because there’s a small chance that it could contain a bacterium (細菌), which can result in infant botulism (嬰兒型肉毒中毒): a serious form of food poisoning.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible for manufacturers to destroy the bacteria without cooking the honey, which makes the sweet matter unsuitable for babies under one. Although the British Honey Importers and Packers Association advises its members to print on honey labels that it’s not suitable for babies under 12 months, all products will not carry the warning. So it’s up to you to remember not to add honey to your baby’s food.

Although you may feel your baby’s food could do with a spoonful of honey for sweetness, it’s a good idea to avoid giving her too many sugary tastes. Offering too many sweet foods could mean that your baby develops a sweet tooth.

If, however, adding sweetness to certain foods will help. There are plenty of alternatives to honey. Try low-sugar jams on fingers of toast or in sandwiches. You can also sweeten the flavor of sharp or sour fruit such as rhubarb (大黃) by adding jams like apples or pears.

Once your baby is over a year old, it’s safe to introduce honey. By this time, a child’s intestines () have grown enough to process the dangerous bacteria without allowing it to grow. However, because honey is a type of sugar, nutritionists still advise you should limit the amount to avoid problems as to tooth later on.

2From the second paragraph we can infer that .

A. honey manufacturers will remove the bacteria by cooking

B. every honey product will carry a label in the market

3The underlined sentence in the passage means that .

A. we have no choice except honey

Does Fame Drive You Crazy?
Although being famous might sound like a dream come true, today's star, feeling like zoo animals, face pressures that few of us can imagine. They are at the center of much of the world's attention. Paparazzi (狗仔隊) camp outside their homes, cameras ready. Tabloids (小報) publish thrilling stories about their personal lives. Just imagine not being able to do anything without being photographed or interrupted for a signature!
According to psychologist Christina Villareal, celebrities — famous people — worry constantly about their public appearance. Eventually, they start to lose track of who they really are, seeing themselves the way their fans imagine them, not as the people they were before everyone knew their names. “Over time,” Villareal says, “they feel separated and alone.”
The phenomenon of tracking celebrities has been around for ages. In the 4th century B.C., painters followed Alexander the Great into battle, hoping to picture his victories for his admirers. When Charles Dickens visited America in the 19th century, his sold-out readings attracted thousands of fans, leading him to complain (抱怨) about his lack of privacy. Tabloids of the 1920s and 1930s ran articles about film-stars in much the same way that modern tabloids and websites do.
Being a public figure today, however, is a lot more difficult than it used to be. Superstars cannot move about without worrying about photographers with modern cameras. When they say something silly or do something ridiculous, there is always the Internet to spread the news in minutes and keep their “story” alive forever.
If fame is so troublesome, why aren't all celebrities running away from it? The answer is there are still ways to deal with it. Some stars stay calm by surrounding themselves with trusted friends and family or by escaping to remote places away from big cities. They focus not on how famous they are but on what they love to do or whatever made them famous in the first place.
Sometimes a few celebrities can get a little justice. Still, even stars who enjoy full justice often complain about how hard their lives are. They are tired of being famous already.
(1)It can be learned from the passage that stars today___________.
A.are often misunderstood by the public
B.can no longer have their privacy protected
C.spend too much on their public appearance
D.care little about how they have come into fame
(2)What is the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.Great heroes of the past were generally admired.
B.The problem faced by celebrities has a long history.
C.Well-known actors are usually targets of tabloids.
D.Works of popular writers often have a lot of readers.
(3)What makes it much harder to be a celebrity today?
A.Availability of modern media.
B.Inadequate social recognition.
C.Lack of favorable chances.
D.Huge population of fans.
(4)What is the author's attitude toward modern celebrity?
A.Sincere.
B.Sceptical.
C.Disapproving.
D.Sympathetic.

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
As the new semester begins, millions of college students across the country are trying hard to remember how best to write a paper or, more likely, how best to delay that paper.
Procrastination is the thief of time and a lot of students suffer form it. They can spend whole days in the library doing nothing but staring into space, eating snacks, surfing the Internet, watching videos and looking at other students sitting around them, who, most likely are doing nothing either.
Paralyzed (使失去活力) by their habit to procrastinate, they write micro blogs about their fears, asking their online friends if they sometimes have the same issue. But this does nothing to break the spell (魔咒).
According to a recent report, 95 percent of us procrastinate at some point and 20 percent of the world's population are always procrastinating. The figures are disappointing. Procrastinators are less wealthy, less healthy and less happy than those who don't delay. Procrastinators like to find excuses to justify their behavior, but BBC columnist Rowan Pelling says they are all wrong.
Many procrastinators tell themselves they are perfectionists who work best under pressure. Pelling says this is non sense, as work done at the last minute is more likely to have mistakes than work done on time. The behavior of procrastinators often makes them feel ashamed, inconveniences others and annoys loved ones.
Pelling also points out that procrastination feels particularly delinquent(過失的) in a society that thinks of speedy action as admirable, and, at times, even as a moral good.
Fortunately, social scientists have thrown their weight behind efforts to understand this behavioral mistake and offer strategies to control it. Piers Steel, a Canadian social scientist and author of The Procrastination Equation, believes human is “designed” to procrastinate. Nevertheless, he suggests a couple of good ways to get through the task at hand.
(1)Which behavior belongs to procrastination?
A.Never dream away the time.
B.Always complete the tasks ahead of time.
C.Never put off till tomorrow what should be done today.
D.Always wait to work until the “good mood” or “good time”.
(2)According to the passage, which of the following statements is NOT TRUE?
A.Procrastination makes people waste their time.
B.Speedy action is considered as a moral standard in the society.
C.procrastinators usually complete their tasks perfectly.
D.Procrastination is common among people.
(3)What is most likely to be discuss ed in the paragraph that follows?
A.Ways to handle the study pressures.
B.Introduction to the book The Procrastination Equation.
C.More examples to illustrate procrastination
D.Measures to deal with procrastination.
