(1)考查對(duì)上下文的理解能力。根據(jù)空后“They really suit you,Mary!”和對(duì)方的答語可以判斷Mike說了夸獎(jiǎng)Mary的話,由此可知A選項(xiàng)內(nèi)容符合語境,故選A。
(2)考查對(duì)上下文的理解能力。從下文的答語“I mean…they are very popular these days;”可以判斷Mike在問他是什么意思,選F。
(3)考查對(duì)上下文的理解能力。根據(jù)上文“You are great at keeping up with fashions.”可知Mike認(rèn)為Mary總是追時(shí)髦,所以判斷空上內(nèi)容是Mary對(duì)此做出的解釋,選E。

【題目】Jessica Westervelt, a Spanish teacher at Bethlehem High School in New York, created an activity called "House Hunters", which was inspired by the popular television show "House Hunters International", for her Spanish class about four years ago.

Similar to the show, students work in groups, pretending to be real house agents, and look for three houses in Spanish-speaking countries. She uses the activity to teach vocabulary related to the home, chores, travel and vacation. She created the exercise because she wanted to incorporate her students' interests into the curriculum(課程). At the time, a group of her students were big fans of the show.

The students look for a home for Westervelt to buy to live in, or rent for vacation. She tells them what she is looking for in a home and gives them a budget. Students work in groups of three, and each group is responsible for finding one house in a Spanish-speaking country that fits the requirements.

The groups usually make a brochure describing the houses they find. Each group presents their findings to the class, while the other students take notes. The entire activity is done in Spanish, so students get to practice their writing, listening and conversation skills. They also get some cultural education when researching homes in Spanish-speaking countries. Westervelt says that students planning to take the class look forward to her project.

Westervelt says, "I think any time that you can find a way to link into something that they are interested in outside of school, it makes it more realistic for them and it makes that activity much more enjoyable for them."

1How did Westervelt come up with the idea of the activity?

A. She got it from a TV program. B. She was inspired by her students.

C. She learned it from a house agent. D. She was taught that in high school.

2Which of the following can replace the underlined word "incorporate" in Paragraph 2?

A. change. B. absorb. C. force. D. persuade.

3What are the students supposed to do with the houses they find?

A. Live in the houses for a while. B. Rent the houses for their vacation.

C. Write an introduction to the houses. D. Choose and buy one for their teacher.

4What do Westervelt's words in the last paragraph mean?

A. Most school activities are not enjoyable.

B. Students should be realistic about study.

C. Out-of-school activities are very important.

D. Learning should be combined with interest.

【題目】One of the newest words on the coffee stage is “shade grown coffee”. Shade grown coffee isn’t new. In fact, until only a few years ago, shade grown coffee represented the major coffee beans sold on the world coffee market. The coffee plant is a natural shade lover, growing best in the shade afforded by an overgrowing canopy (樹冠) of rain forest plants. That canopy protects the coffee plant from sunlight that reduces its production and kills it.

Shade grown coffee is, however, more expensive to grow, at least in the short run. Growing coffee in the shade means that coffee growers also have to spend time working on the protectors. It means that less land is left to produce coffee beans. The arrival of technically engineered coffee plants that grow well in the sun represented a major development in coffee industry. Because there was no need to grow shade trees to protect the coffee trees, farmers could use more and more land to grow coffee trees, increasing their productivity and leading to more money for the coffee plantations (種植園) and farmers.

However, it was not a good idea to move away from shade grown coffee. The sheltering canopy provided more than just shade for the coffee trees. Those plants provided shelter for birds and other animals who feed on pests.

They help to fix nitrogen in the soil, and nitrogen is a natural fertilizer which makes plants grow more successfully. The increase in land used to grow sun loving coffee trees also had an unexpected effect on the law of supply and demand. The increased production resulted in a huge amount of coffee beans coming to the market, which brought down prices.

Moreover, most experts agree that shade grown coffee is better in taste than coffee grown in full sun. Plants grown in shade take longer to develop. The slower growing time helps to improve the coffee’s taste. You can buy a can of shade grown coffee to replace your usual sun coffee. One cup of coffee a day---it’s a small price to pay for a better world.

1What do we know about shade grown coffee?

A. It has been introduced to the market recently.

B. It was the main coffee beans sold on the market.

C. It is protected by the canopy from pests and animals.

D. It grows well where there is adequate natural sunlight.

2Why did farmers move away from shade grown coffee?

A. It had a bitter taste.

B. It left no land for shade trees.

C. It offered less profits.

D. It’s no longer well received.

3What is an advantage of sheltering plants?

A. They keep a balanced environment.

B. They bring more money to farmers.

C. They help clear the nitrogen in the soil.

D. They make coffee plants grow quickly.

4What does the author suggest?

A. Spending less on coffee. B. Listening to experts’ ideas.

C. Buying shade grown coffee. D. Planting sun loving coffee.

In 1943, when I was 4, my parents moved from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Fairbanks, Alaska, where adventure was never very far away.
We arrived in the summer, just in time to enjoy the midnight sun. All that sunlight was fantastic for Mom's vegetable garden. Working in the garden at midnight tended to throw her timing off, so she didn't care much about my bedtime.
Dad was a Railway Express agent and Mom was his clerk. That left me in a mess. I usually managed to find some trouble to get into. Once I had a little Are going in the dirt basement of a hotel. I had tried to light a barrel(桶) of paint but couldn't really get a good fire going. The smoke got pretty bad, though, and when 1 made my exit, a crowd and the police were there to greet me. The policemen took my matches and drove me
Mom and Dad were occupied in the garden and Dad told the police to keep me, and they did! I had a tour of the prison before Mom rescued me. 1 hadn't turned 5 yet.
As I entered kindergarten, the serious cold began to set in. Would it surprise you to know that I soon left part of my tongue on a metal handrail at school?
As for Leonhard Seppala, famous as a dog sledder (駕雪橇者), I think I knew him well because I was taken for a ride with his white dog team one Sunday. At the time I didn't realize what a superstar he was, but I do remember the ride well. I was wrapped (包裹) heavily and well sheltered from the freezing and blowing weather.
In 1950, we moved back to Coeur d'Alene, but we got one more Alaskan adventure when Leonhard invited us eight years later by paying a visit to Idaho to attend a gathering of former neighbors of Alaska.
