Jane Austen completed six books altogether and all of them are still being read today．In the last few years，several of her novels have been made into films，including Sense and Sensibility the novel which she had to publish by herself．
During Jane's lifetime，some people looked down upon her novels．They said no one would want to read about women and women's lives．They believed men's lives were much more important and interesting．Now we know they were very wrong．
