6.Microsoft founder Bill Gates has opened up about being a parent, stating that 13 is an appropriate age for a child's first cell phone.
The 57-year-old,father-of-three,revealed on the Today Show that his children Jennifer and Rory were not allowed phones until their 13th birthday and his youngest daughter Phoebe is still waiting for one.
"We've chosen in our family that it's 13 where you get a phone,"the self-made billionaire explained.
He said as a result his children often return home from school complaining,"All the other kids have it.I'm the only one without it.It's so embarrassing."
Asked if he keeps passwords to his son and daughters'email and Facebook accounts,Mr Gates said that he doesn't for Jennifer,16,who he describes as"independent".
He admitted that monitoring online activity is"a very tough issue for parents now".
Despite their vast wealth Mr and Mrs Gates, who live in Lake Medina, just outside Seattle,Washington, have  said  they  want  to give  their children  as  normal an upbringing(撫養(yǎng)) as possible.
It was previously reported that their youngsters have to complete household chores and are given a modest amount of pocket money.
And in 2010 Mr.Gates said that he intends to give most of his $61 billion fortune away rather than hand it down."That wouldn't be good either for my kids or society,"he said.
Also during the Today interview with Matt Lauer,Mr Gates, who stepped down from Microsoft in 2008 to concentrate on philanthropy(慈善事業(yè)),said that helping others gives him the same happiness as creating software.
"What you really feel is what you've achieved. If a piece of software gets out there and lots of people love it-it lets them get their work done in better ways-that's exciting,"he explained.
Mr Gates was previously the richest man in the world, but he got shifted down a spot in 2010 after he decided to give away 28 billion to good causes.

14.Things which were considered impolite many years ago are now acceptable.Just a few years ago,it was considered impolite for a man to smoke in the street. No man who thought of himself as being a gentleman would make a fool of himself by smoking when a lady was in the room.
Customs are also different from country to country.Does a man walk on the left or on the right of a woman in your country?Or doesn't it matter? What about table manners?Should you leave your hands on your laps or on the table?
The American and the British not only speak the same language but also share a large number of social customs. For example,in both America and England people shake hands when they meet each other for the first time. Also, most Englishmen will open a door for a woman or offer their seats to a woman, and so will most Americans.Promptness is important both in England and in America. That is if a dinner invitation is for seven o'clock, the dinner guest either arrives close to that time or calls up to explain his delay.
The important thing to remember about social customs is not to do anything that might make other people feel uncomfortable-especially if they are your guests. There is an old story about a man who gave a very formal dinner party. When the food was served, one of the guests started to eat his peas with a knife. The other guests were amused or shocked, but the host calmly picked up his knife and began eating in the same way.It would have been bad manners to make his guest feel foolish or uncomfortable.

Want to stay away from colds?Put on a happy face.
Compared(與…比較) to unhappy people,those who are cheerful and relaxed are less likely to suffer from colds,according to a new study.It's possible that being happy helps the body fight illnesses,say the researchers from New York University.
"It seems that positive(積極的) feelings may reduce (減少)the danger of illness,"said the study's chief researcher Sheldon Cohen.
In an earlier study,Cohen found that people who were cheerful and lively caught coughs and colds less often.People  who showed feelings were also less likely to tell their doctors that they felt ill.
In this study,Cohen has interviewed 193adults every day for two weeks.During the interviews,the people told researchers that they were given colds by doctors and had to stay alone in a room for six days.
The results showed that everyone in the study was equally(相等地) likely to get ill.But for people who said they felt happy during the research period,their illness are less serious and lasted for a shorter time.
Cohen believes that when people experience positive feelings,their body may produce a chemical that helps fight illness.So if you are worried about your health,look on the brighter side more often.
