本句為句型it is +時(shí)間段+since…自從……有多久了,since從句中需用一般過(guò)去時(shí),故把come改為came。

分析句子可知,I have been experiencing為定語(yǔ)從句修飾先行詞problems,從句缺乏賓語(yǔ),故需用關(guān)系代詞,故把what改為which或者that

spend time in doing sth.意為"花費(fèi)時(shí)間做某事",in后接動(dòng)詞-ing形式,in也可以省略,故把sing改為singing。

指的是花費(fèi)很多錢(qián),故用much而非many,故把many改為much。

本句中do之后缺少賓語(yǔ),表示事情,用what,故把how改為what

根據(jù)上文可知,作者交了三個(gè)朋友,用them,把him改為them

Astronomers have taken the first ever image of a black hole, which is located in a distant galaxy (星系). It measures 40 billion km across – three million times the size of the Earth – and has been described by scientists as “a monster”.

The black hole is 500 million trillion km away and was photographed by a network of eight telescopes across the world. Details have been published today in Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Prof Heino Falcke, who proposed the experiment, told BBC News that the black hole was found in a galaxy called M87. “What we see is larger than the size of our entire Solar System,” he said. “It has a mass 6.5 billion times that of the Sun. It is an absolute monster, the heavyweight champion of black holes in the Universe.” The image shows an intensely bright “ring of fire”, as Prof Falcke describes it, surrounding a perfectly circular dark hole. Some scientists assumed that the bright ring is caused by superheated gas falling into the hole. The light is brighter than all the billions of other stars in the galaxy combined – which is why it can be seen at such distance from Earth. The edge of the dark circle at the centre is the point at which the gas enters the black hole, which is an object that has such a large gravitational pull (引力) that even light can’t escape.

The image matches what theoretical physicists and indeed, Hollywood directors, imagined black holes would look like, according to Dr Ziri Younsi, of University College London. “Although they are relatively simple objects, black holes raise some of the most complex questions about the nature of space and time, and finally of our existence,” he said. “It is surprising that the image we observe is so similar to that which we obtain from our theoretical calculations (計(jì)算). So far, it looks like Einstein is correct once again.” But having the first image will enable researchers to learn more about these mysterious objects. They will be keen to look out for ways in which the black hole leaves from what’s expected in physics. No one really knows how the bright ring around the hole is created. Even more interesting is the question of what happens when an object falls into a black hole.

1What made the scientists call the black hole a “monster”?

A. The hole’s larger size.B. Its distance from the earth.

C. The gravitational pull.D. The bright ring of the hole.

2Why can the black hole be seen from the Earth?

A. The superheated gas falling into the hole makes it brighter.

B. An intensely bright “ring of fire” surrounds the black hole.

C. The gravitational pull of the hole is so large that no light escapes.

D. The light of the other stars combined can’t match that of the hole.

3About the image of the black hole, which of the following is CORRECT?

A. Eight telescopes in the USA cooperated to take the image.

B. It will help researchers to learn more about black holes.

C. It is different from what Hollywood directors imagined.

D. It enables scientists to know the nature of our existence.

4What might be the best title for the passage?

A. The Heaviest Black HoleB. First Black Hole Image Released

C. A Surprising MonsterD. Einstein is Correct Once Again

Some insects, such as butterflies and ladybugs, are quite beautiful. But, did you know that many bugs are also edible and are filled with protein?

Aletheia Price knows this—and a lot more—about bugs. She also thinks you should try eating some. If you visit the website www.eatbug.com, you will find all kinds of information about edible insects. Most of it was written by Aletheia Price when she was fifteen years old. Aletheia started eating bugs at the age of thirteen. Before long, she found that she really enjoyed some of them. She also became interested in finding out more about which kinds of bugs could be eaten and how to cook them.

According to Aletheia, there are at least 1,462 kinds of edible insects. (Doesn’t that make you wonder who tried all of them and decided they were edible?) Some of her favorite dishes include mealworm chocolate chip cookies, ant tacos(玉米卷), and chocolate-covered crickets(蟋蟀). On her website she has recipes for insect entrees(開(kāi)胃菜) and some helpful tips. For example, when preparing crickets, it is best to remove their legs before cooking, for the legs tend to get stuck in your teeth. She also offers information for anyone who wants to raise bugs for food.

Aletheia realizes that eating bugs is not for everyone. But, if you think about it, you have to admit that eating bugs might be a good idea. There are billions and billions of bugs in this world. If we could get used to eating them, we would have plenty of food for everyone.

Happy, angry, amazed—these are some of the emotions we like to express these days when we’re sending a message on our smart phones! That’s why many of us now add little pictures to our texts to brighten up someone’s mobile screen but we’re also using them as a quick way of telling someone how we’re feeling. Yes, emojis (表情符號(hào)) have become a popular tool for communication.

The emoji was first invented in Japan in the late 1990s and the word “emoji” comes from the Japanese words for “picture” and “character”. The number of different images has greatly increased since then and now we have a picture for nearly every mood or situation.

Why are emojis widely used today? Professor Vyv Evans says, “Increasingly, what we’re finding is that digital communication is replacing face-to-face talk in some ways. One of the reasons why emojis are so interesting is that they really do enable us to express our emotional selves much more effectively.”

Another advantage of emojis is that they are an international language—they don’t use words but tell a message with pictures so they can be easily understood whatever your native language is.

But as linguist (語(yǔ)言學(xué)家) Neil Cohn says, “To many, emojis are an exciting evolution (進(jìn)化) of the way we communicate; but to others, they are linguistic Armageddon.” It does show by using emojis, there is a lot more to our communication than words alone, but does this also mean that the traditional writing will die out one day?

1What is implied(暗示) in Paragraph 2?

A.The emoji was first invented in Japan.

B.The word “emoji” only means “picture” and “character”.

C.More and more pictures are used to express our mood today.

D.The number of emoji images will increase rapidly in the future.

2Why do people use emojis so widely?

A.Emojis can never be misunderstood.

B.Emojis are similar to some native languages.

C.Emojis make us communicate more effectively.

D.Emojis can replace face-to-face communication.

3What is the structure of the passage?

A.B.C.D.

In the summer holiday following my eighteen birthday, I took driving lessons. I still remember how hard first day was. Before getting into the car, I thought I had learned the instructor’s orders, so once I started the car, my mind goes blank. I forgot what he had said to me altogether. The instructor kept repeating the word, “Speed up!” “Slow down!” “Turning left!” I was so much nervous that I could hardly tell which direction was left. A few minutes late, the instructor asked me to stop the car. It was a relief and I came to a suddenly stop just in the middle on the road.
