This visit, however, turned out to be disappointing.Though the way to the protected monarch garden looked just as I remembered it,I spotted only a few butterflies there"雖然公園的路看起來還像我記憶中那樣,我發(fā)現(xiàn)只有少數(shù)的蝴蝶在那里,因此十分失望;故選C.
67.A. I stopped by Natural Bridges, where the monarch butterflies overwinter"可知作者在Natural Bridges停下是為了去看monarch 蝴蝶,因此過去作者是能在這里找到蝴蝶的;故選A.
68.A. 根據(jù)文章第一段"a deadly disease killed off most large pines sheltering the monarch habitats at Natural Bridges, forcing monarchs to seek shelter elsewhere"可知一種致命的疾病殺死了大部分大松樹,迫使蝴蝶到其它地方尋求庇護;故選A.
69.D. Chemicals are widely applied, wiping out the milkweed once growing in the agricultural land"化學(xué)品廣泛應(yīng)用,消滅農(nóng)業(yè)土地上的乳草屬植物;可知乳草數(shù)量的減少是由于化學(xué)藥品的濫用;故選D.

For:Doug Smith,Director of wolf recovery,Yellowstone National Park In the world today there is so much we are losing; more and more species disappear from the earth every year. The time has come to put something back,to restore(恢復(fù))to treat some of the old wounds enforced on nature over the years. Wolves are animals killing and eating other animals in North America. They play an important role in keeping the continent healthy. Most places don't have enough wild country to make their restoration possible, which means it's even more important to restore wolves where conditions are right, places like Yellowstone, which has both a high level of wildness,as well as abundant creatures that wolves hunt and eat for living. Some who oppose wolf restoration have a human centered point of view that the earth is here for humans,we can use it whenever we want and for whatever purpose. But wolves offer us a chance to live another way-a way to learn to live with other life forms. | Against:Larry Bourret,Vice President,Wyoming Farm Bureau What does wolf introduction to Yellowstone mean?To the average citizen it probably just means introducing wolves to Yellowstone. There would be no unfavorable effects because few people live near Yellowstone. But to farmers it means introducing wolves, which wander over vast areas-in and out of the park-onto their farms.Wolves eat meat-as in the cattle, sheep that keep farmers in business.Introduction apparently also means lawsuits by environmental groups attempting to remove livestock(家畜,牲畜) from federal lands. To farmers, who own private lands in the same area,it means the possibility of ?nancial ruin.To farmers it is a form of land use restrictions. To farmers introducing wolves means taking away the farmers'livelihoods without just compensation. Why do people not want a nuclear power plant built in their backyard? For the same reason farmers do not want wolves introduced into their backyard. |

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife, enjoying his extended family. He would miss the pay check, but he needed to retire.
The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He used shoddy materials to build the house. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.
When the carpenter finished his work and the employer came to inspect the house, he handed the front-door key to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said, “my gift to you.”
What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in a home he hadn’t built very well.
It is the same with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up with less than the best. At important points, we don’t give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that, we would have done it differently.
Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall, build wisely. It is the only life you ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plague (牌匾) on the wall says, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.”
Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.

A. We should build a good house to live in.
B. We always regret what we have done.
C. We should try our best to do things well.
D. We prefer to react, rather than act.
4.What does the author mainly want to tell us in the text?
A. We should build a house wisely.

C. Building a house is like building a life.
D. We should have the right attitude towards life.
