As to independent learning, you’d better work out a daily schedule first. Besides, it’s necessary that you keep interacting actively with your teachers, asking and answering questions in class, which is one of the most effective ways to prevent you from getting distracted.

In terms of learning about Chinese culture, I’d like to recommend tai chi, an activity of great benefit to human’s health, whose videos are available on the You Tube. You may also visit some virtual museums on the Internet such as The Dunhuang Museum and The Palace Museum.
