6.Poor bears comes to the UK,bringing only a red hat,a suitcase,a sandwich,and jars of marmalade (果醬) with him.Heading straight to a major London train station,he sits on his suitcase and stops passers-by from time to time in the hope of finding a free home.
This is how Paddington Bear,the main character of the UK animated movie Paddington,is introduced to audiences.On March 3,during Prince William's visit to China,he attended the Chinese premiere (首演) of the film in Shanghai.
"Many Britons were raised on tales of Paddington,the second-best-known bear in fiction after Winnie the Pooh,"the Economist noted.While Winnie the Pooh reminds people of the innocence and simplicity of the past,"the well-meaning Paddington always causes chaos when he goes through cultural misunderstandings."
The movie,described as"a total delight,as warm and welcome as a hot pair of socks on a winter morning"by the Telegraph,tells the story of the bear,who is sent to London by his family,after an earthquake destroys their home in Peru.At Paddington station,he meets Mr.Brown,Mrs.Brown and their two kids.The Brown family name him Paddington,because they can't say his Peruvian name.After the fuzzy (毛茸茸的) stranger enters the Browns'home,he teaches everyone how to laugh and love.In the end,Mr.Brown says that"even if he's from a different species,he's still family."
As Phoenix magazine put it,"The story shows British sympathy and kindness"as the refugee Paddington is given a new home and a loving family in London.
Released at a time when immigration is a hot topic in the UK,"Paddington has a very clear message:welcome the other into your home",the Philadelphia Inquirer noted.
And Paddington Bear is also a great example of the traditional politeness that British people are well known for.For example,Paddington Bear calls people"Mr.","Mrs."and"Miss",rarely using their first name.he also loves making small talk with people.For instance,Paddington often has polite conversations about unimportant things with people like his housekeeper.

4.More and more corporations are taking an interest in corporate social responsibility (CSR).CSR is made up of three broad layers.The most basic is traditional corporate charity work.Companies typically spend about 1% of pre-tax profits on worthy projects.But many feel that simply writing cheques to charities is no longer enough.In some companies,shareholders want to know that their money is being put to good use,and employees want to be actively involved in good works.
Money alone is not the answer when companies come under attack for their behavior.Hence the second layer of CSR,which is a branch of risk management.Starting in the 1980s,with environmental disasters such as the explosion at Bhopal and the Exxon Valdez oil spill,industry after industry has suffered blows to its reputation.
So,companies often responded by trying to manage the risks.They talk to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and to governments,create codes of conduct(行為準則) and devote themselves to more transparency(透明)in their operations.Increasingly,too.they,along with their competitors,set common rules to spread risks.
All this is largely defensive,but there are also opportunities for those that get ahead of the game.The emphasis on opportunity is the third layer of CSR:the idea that it can help to create value.If approached in a strategic way,CSR could become part of a company's competitive advantage.That is just the sort of thing chief executives like to hear.The idea of"doing well by doing good"has become popular.
Nevertheless, the business of trying to be good is bringing difficult questions to executives. Can you measure CSR performance?Should you be cooperating with NGOs and you're your competitors? Is there any really competitive advantage to be had from a green strategy?
Corporate social responsibility is now seen as a mainstream.Big companies want to tell the world about their good citizenship with their devotion to social responsibilities.Done badly,CSR is often just window-dressing and can be positively harmful.Done well,though,it is not some separate activity that companies do on the side,a corner of corporate life reserved for virtue(美德):it is just good business.
(Note:Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN TEN WORDS)

78.Bothshareholders and employees in some companies find it no longer enough to simply donate money to charities.
79.Give one example of the defensive measures of risk management according to the passage.Companies talk to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and to governments./Companies create codes of conduct./Companies devote themselves to more transparency in their operations./Companies set common rules with their competitors to spread risks.
80.With the emphasis on opportunity,the third layer of CSR is meant tocreate value.
81.According to the passage,"good business"(paragraph 6)means that corporationstake social responsibilities while making profits.

3.Quiet Virtue:The Conscientious
The everyday signs of conscientiousness (認真盡責)-being punctual, careful in doing work,self-disciplined,and scrupulous (一絲不茍的) in attending to responsibilities-are typical characteristics of the model organizational citizen, the people who keep things running as they should. They follow the rules, help out,and are concerned about the people they work with. It's the conscientious worker who helps newcomers or updates people who return after an absence, who gets to work on time and never abuses sick leaves, who always gets things done on deadline.
Conscientiousness is a key to success in any field. In studies of job performance, outstanding effectiveness for almost all jobs, from semi鄄skilled labor to sales and management, depends on conscientiousness. It is particularly important for outstanding performance in jobs at the lower levels of an organization:the secretary whose message taking is perfect, the delivery truck driver who is always on time.
Among sales representatives for a large American car manufacturer, those who were most conscientious had the largest volume of sales.Conscientiousness also offers a buffer (緩沖) against the threat of job loss in today's constantly changing market, because employees with this quality are among the most valued. For the sales representatives, their level of conscientiousness mattered almost as much as their sales in determining who stayed on.
There is an air around highly conscientious people that makes them seem even better than they actually are.Their reputation for dependability influences managers爺evaluations of their work, giving them higher evaluations than objective measures of their performance would predict.
But conscientiousness in the absence of social skills can lead to problems.Since conscientious people demand so much of themselves, they can hold other people to their own standards, and so be overly judgmental when others don爺t show the same high levels of model behavior.Factory workers in Great Britain and the United States who were extremely conscientious, for example, tended to criticize co-workers even about failures that seemed unimportant to those they criticized, which damaged their relationships.
When conscientiousness takes the form of living up to expectations,it can discourage creativity. In creative professions like art or advertising, openness to wild ideas and spontaneity (自發(fā)性) are scarce and in demand.Success in such occupations calls for a balance, however; without enough conscientiousness to follow through, people become mere dreamers, with nothing to show for their imaginativeness.

7.As sea levels climb,even Washington,D.C.could see more frequent and widespread flooding at high tide.
Strong storms and high winds sometimes bring floods to coastal areas.But cities and towns along the US East Coast are flooding even in calm and sunny weather.Among them is Maryland's capital Annapolis.Tourists there must sometimes walk through water flooding downtown streets surrounding the habor.Sometimes water covers roads in Atlantic City,N.J.Even the yards and basements of coastal homes near New York City sometimes flood.
All are suffering from this trend-----normal high tides surpass(超過) a rising sea level
Sea levels have climbed,on average,about 20centimeters(8inches) over the past 135years.And a sharp increase in tide flooding is one of the more visible impacts affecting many coastal areas,notes William Sweet,an oceanographer.
Sweet and his co-workers recently analyzed data from 45tide gauges(計量表) along the US coasts.These tools record the changing heights of tides as they rise and fall.From these data,Sweet's team calculated the number of"troublesome floods"in various coastal cities.These floods,Sweet explains,typically occur when water level is about 30centimeters(1foot) above the historic level of the highest tides.In June 2014,the team reported finding a growing rise in these flooding events.
In Charleston,S.C,from 1957to 1963,the city experienced troublesome floods an average of 4.6days per year.Bur from 2007 to 2013,the occurring rate of troublesome floods jumped five times.Annapolis city was even more serious.From 1957to 1963,troublesome floods were roughly 3.8days per year.From 2007to 2013,the average was 10times higher---39.3days a year.
"Over the next few decades,climate change probably drives sea levels even higher,"Sweet says."So today's flooding problems promise to become only more widespread and frequent."

A.Using examples.

D.Because people are living too close to harbors.
30.What can it be inferred according to data in Paragraph 5?A
A.There has been a growing rise in these analyzed flooding evevts.
B.The changes of heights of tides are usually in a small range.
C.The floods in coastal cities often occur when water level is above 1foot.
