【題目】Mozart was a great man born with a given talent. He was writing songs at the age of five and performing before the queen by the time he was six years old. Early on, Mozart realized what his talents were, practiced or honed what he was born to do and used his natural abilities to create amazing pieces of music.
Mozart was not the first to be born with natural talents and he wasn't the last. We all have them. We only need to discover what they are and use them to the best of our abilities. You have been given amazing gifts that are meant to be shared with the world. Your job is to find out what those talents are and master them.
Finding your natural talents may not be an easy task. Perhaps your parents except fewer wouldn't approve of (贊成)your artistic ability to paint or sing, because they want you to be a successful doctor or lawyer. Maybe your gift wouldn't seem to have the ability to bring the kind of wealth you hope. These may be excuses; it's up to you. Have you ever noticed that when you engage in an activity in which you are naturally talented, you feel active and excited? That's a sign that these are the things you should do. Discover your brilliance (才華)in life and practice, practice, practice.
Look at the world's greatest athletes. They practice what they're naturally good at, and what they love. You don't see Jordan sitting trying to study DNA. If that was something he was talented at, that's what he would be doing. But it's not. He's a brilliant athlete. He sticks to what he does best and he realizes his dream.
There are only two steps to success-discover your brilliance and perfect it.

【題目】That cold January night, I was growing sick of my life in San Francisco. There I was, walking home at one in the morning after a tiring practice at the theater. With opening night only a week away, I was still learning my lines.I was having trouble with my part-time job at the bank and my acting at night at the same time.As I walked, I thought seriously about giving up both acting and San Francisco.City life had become too much for me.
As I walked down empty streets under tall buildings, I felt very small and cold.I began running, both to keep warm and to keep away any possible robbers.Very few people were still out except a few sad-looking homeless people under blankets.
About a block from my apartment, I heard a sound behind me.I turned quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun.The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight.Still, the noise had made me nervous, so I started to run faster. Not until I reached my apartment building and unlocked the door did I realize what the noise had been.It had been my wallet falling to the sidewalk.
Suddenly I wasn’t cold or tired anymore.I ran out of the door and back to where I’d heard the noise.Although I searched the sidewalk anxiously for fifteen minutes, my wallet was nowhere to be found.
Just as I was about to give up the search, I heard the garbage truck(垃圾車) pull up to the sidewalk next to me.When a voice called from the inside, “Alisa Camacho?” I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name? The door opened, and out jumped a small red-haired man with an amused look in his eyes.“Is this what you’re looking for?” he asked, holding up a small square shape.
It was nearly 3 a.m.by the time I got into bed.I wouldn’t get much sleep that night, but I had got my wallet back.I also had got back some enjoyment of city life.I realized that the city couldn’t be a bad place as long as people were willing to help each other.

【題目】When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say,"Well, it's so-and-so's fault. " or " I know I'm late, but it's not my fault; the car broke down. " It is probably not your fault, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do noting that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing on how to remedy the situation. This is the winner's key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. Or, you might start to carry along with you the useful phone numbers, so you could call for help when in need. For another example, if your colleague causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don't rely on this person. You should accept that the person is not reliable and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your colleague fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about-creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what hap-pens. Winners don't have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on “whose fault it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stop on for success.
【1】According to the passage, winners __________.
A. deal with problems rather than blame others
B. meet with fewer difficulties in their lives
C. have responsible and able colleagues
D. blame themselves rather than others
【2】The underlined word “remedy" in Paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to __________.
A. avoid B. accept
C. improve D. consider
【3】When your colleague brings about a problem, you should __________.
A. find a better way to handle the problem
B. blame him for his lack of responsibility
C. tell him to find the cause of the problem
D. ask a more able colleague for help
【4】When problems occur, winners take them as __________.
A. excuses for their failures
B. barriers to greater power
C. challenges to their colleagues
D. chances for self-development

【題目】Researchers from the University of Newcastle are leading a worldfirst study which builds on earlier unpublished research that children are most likely to be guided by their father's eating and exercise habits.
The new study “Healthy Dads,Healthy Kids”,led by Associate Professor Philip Morgan from the University's Faculty of Education and Arts,is designed to help fathers promote and demonstrate to their children positive behaviors related to physical activity and healthy eating.
“The earlier findings showed that children are more likely to follow the example set by their father than their mother when it comes to eating and exercise,”said Morgan.Morgan saw striking results in a previous trial involving 165 overweight children. He found children who lost the most weight had fathers who were engaged in the new eating and exercise plan.
“We might think mothers are the main influence on children's diet and health, but the reality may be different,”said Morgan.“The roles of fathers are changing.More families have two parents working and more fathers are involved with food preparation and food shopping than in the past.”
“Fathers influence the food and physical activity habits in the home through their behaviours, attitudes and approach to food and eating, and act as a role model to their children,”said Morgan.
Researchers are inviting fathers who would like to reduce their weight to join the “Healthy Dads,Healthy Kids” program.Participation involves attending eight sessions (講習(xí)班) at the University of Newcastle over six months where the men will receive information, have weightrelated measurements recorded and complete questionnaires.
Cooking healthy food with the kids and creating a backyard fitness circuit (循環(huán)訓(xùn)練場) are among the assignments (課外作業(yè)) for fathers taking part in the study.

A.It aims to build close family relationships.
B.It involves fathers who want to lose weight.
C.It will last more than eight months.
D.It offers free online courses for parents.
【2】Morgan finds a link between children's weight loss and .
A.their parents' efforts
B.their father's influence
