Top of the pops is an amazing 45-year-old programme．Pop stars from all over the world appear on this successful TV prograrnme．After about 2340 shows，it’s still the most popular pop
music show in Britsin．So what’s the secret?
“We get lots of babds to perform live in the studio，”says producer Chris Cowey“That just doesn’t happen on other shows”
Chris starts the preparations for the programme over a week before it goes out．His first job is to decide which bands to have on the show．When the chart of the top twenty songs is produced on Sunday，Chris can start to book the bands
Monday starts with Chris meeting his sound，lighting and camera workers．They listen to each song and plan the show．
Tuesday is paperwork day．There are bookings to make sure of，letters to answer and lots of phone calls to make．The show is on Thursday．Bands arrive at the studio from 10 o’clock in the morning and start practising．Tonight’s presenter，Jo Whiley，practises too
First the bands go to make up．Judy and Issy are the make-up artists．“We see the stars with no make-up on，looking terrible，”says Issy．Then the bands go to the costume department where Marianne dresses the stars
Back in the studio things are happening．The audience is practising their dance moves! It takes over two hours to record the whole programme，then Chris edits it all night long．The final version is exactly 29 minutes long

Live Earth Announces 2010 Global Event!

Live Earth is pleased to announce the largest worldwide water initiative(倡議)in history to help fight the global water crisis．The Dow Live Earth Run for Water—to take place on April 18, 2010—will consist of a series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to get water) taking place over the course of 24 hours in countries around the world, featuring concerts and water education activities, raising awareness and funds to help solve the water crisis．Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher will lend their names and their time in support of this global event．

Water shortage is a major issue affecting countries, communities and families all over the world．One in eight people doesn’t have access to safe, clean drinking water．Communities in Africa, Latin America and Asia suffer 1．8 million deaths every year from diarrheal(腹瀉）diseases and the death of 5,000 children each day due to inadequate water infrastructure(基礎設施)．In these areas, women and children are forced to walk 6 km (3．7 miles) each day to get water that is likely unsuitable for drinking．However, the water crisis is not only limited to developing nations．Adding to these existing issues, the effects of climate change are increasingly impacting both supply and quality of available fresh water throughout the world．

In 60% of European cities with populations greater than 100,000, groundwater is being used faster than it can be replenished(補充)．By 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water-stressed conditions．

Most parents do not like their children's music. For example, today's parents do not like rap music. But what the parents do not understand is that people who make rap music have important abilities.  

Think about the words in a rap song. Many of the words in the songs sound, the same. For example, each word at the end of a line in the song usually has the same sound. Say that a singer used the word" eat". He might also want to use the words "feet" and "meat" in the song. This is because these words end in the same sounds as " eat". So the person who writes the song has to know many words to find words that have the same sound and make sense in the song. Many people who do not like rap music do not think about rap singers' abilities and the clever way that they use words.  

Another thing that rappers do well is putting songs together. Rap singers mix songs from older records with their own music. A good rap song has many different songs in it. So, a rapper has to know a lot about older music. In fact, rappers can mix different kinds of music into their songs, not just rap music. Many times, rappers will put famous parts of old rock and roll, old pop, or old disco songs into a rap song. As long as the rap singer tells people who made the older song, the rock, pop, or disco singers do not mind. If a rap singer does not say where he or she got the music from, then the other singers get mad.  

Some parents think that rap is not really music. But that does not mean that the people making rap music do not have any special abilities.
