題目列表(包括答案和解析)
It is the duty of every man to work. The life of a lazy man is of no use to himself and to others.
The man who is too lazy to work is the man who’s generally most ready to beg or steal. Every boy should learn some useful work when he is young.
But it is not enough that a boy should learn some kind of work. He should put his effect completely into his work, and not waste his free time. “Working while you work and playing while you play is as good rule for young people as for the old.”
There is no better help to diligence (勤奮) than the habit of early rising, and this, just like all other good habits, is most easily formed in youth. There is an English saying “Lost time never returns.” This means that everybody must be diligent and make good use of his time. One must study hard when one is young so that one can make great progress, succeed in life and become useful to one’s country. Therefore, we can say that diligence is the mother of success.

A lift is wonderful. It is really only a small room. Rooms usually stay in one place. Lifts travel up and down all day long.
Sometimes a worker stands in the lift. He or she operates
(操作)it up and down. In modern lifts there is no worker. The people walk in. They know what floor they want. They push a button(按鈕)and the lift goes to that floor. It is very fast and easy.Lifts are important to us. Why? Think about a tall building. Maybe it has twenty floors. Maybe it has fifty or more. Who can walk up all the stairs? Maybe people can climb them one time. Can someone climb thirty floors to an office every day? Can small children walk up to their rooms on the twenty-fourth floor? Can their mothers and fathers carry food up all those stairs? Of course not.
We can have high buildings because we have lifts. We could not have all the beautiful tall buildings in the world without lifts. They are really wonderful.

It’s good to make mistakes, and here is why.
First of all, mistakes are a clear sign that you are trying new things. It’s always good to try new things because when you are trying new things you are growing. If you never try anything new, how can you improve? How can you make yourself stronger? The simple answer is “You can’t.” Look around you. With very few exceptions(例外), either everything you see in your world or every single detail of every single thing is the result of someone trying something new.
Another good thing about mistakes is this: When you are making mistakes, you are learning.Consider this: Edison failed 10,000 times before he perfected the light bulb. When asked how it felt to fail that many times, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times, but rather had learned 10,000 things that didn’t work.
Finally, when you make a mistake you are much closer to success. Why? Because when all is said and done, you will have tried some numbers of things before you succeed.Every time you make a mistake, you eliminate one of those things and are one step closer. But this all doesn’t mean that you should go ahead without considering the consequences(后果) of a mistake. However, when you try something new you have to be willing to set some reasonable limits(限度) so that in the event that it doesn’t work out the way you want it to, you will be in a normal place to try again.
We all have limited time and money so don’t blow them all on one problem. Realize that it probably won’t be perfect the first time and deal with these resources(資源) properly so you can learn, make corrections, and try it again. If you accept and use your mistakes in this way ,you can make great progress in your business and your career.
There is an old saying that goes, “If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not trying hard enough.”
So go ahead and make mistakes. And learn. And grow. And succeed.
