I often dreamed about Pisa when I was a boy. I read about the famous building called the Leaning Tower of Pisa（比薩斜塔）. But when I read the word Pisa, I was thinking of pizza. I thought this tower was a place to buy pizza. It must be the best place to buy pizza in the world, I thought.

Many years later I finally saw the Leaning Tower. I knew then that is was Pisa and not pizza. But there was still something special about it for me. The tower got its name because it really does lean（傾斜） to one side. Some people want to try to fix it .They are afraid it may fall over and they don’t like it leans over the city.
    I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to fix it. The tower probably will not fall down, it is 600 years old. Why should anything happen to it now? And, if you ask me, I like what it looks like. To me it is a very human kind of leaning. Nothing is perfect, it seems to say. And who cares? Why do people want things to be perfect? Imperfect things may be more interesting. The Sound of Speed （速度）

Kathy was a university student. Like most students she had very little money, but she wanted to buy a car.

“If I can buy one really cheap that works, ”she thought, “I will save money on bus fares（車費）. Then I’ll have more to spend on food. ”

She spent a day looking at cars in the second-hand car yards（車場）.Most of them were much too expensive, but at last found one for＄250.

The car was rusty and the paint was badly damaged（損壞）,but it worked .

“It’s got a good engine ,”the salesman said, “and the gear box（變速箱）is O.K. Forget everything else.”

Kathy bought the car and drove it out of the car yard. Everything was wrong with it except for the engine and gear box, which worked very well.

“As long as they work,” Kathy thought, “nothing else matters. The salesman was right.”

Unfortunately, a few days later, while she was driving to her university, a police car drove up beside her and made her stop. A young policeman got out of his car and walked around Kathy’s car. He looked at it disbelievingly.

On the eastern part of West Malaysia, there is a long sand beach. From June to August every year, giant turtles come to the beach to lay eggs. They appear only late at night to lay their eggs （產(chǎn)卵）in holes. They dig these holes with their hind flippers（鰭狀肢）.

   When they have finished laying their eggs, they fill up the holes with sand and return to the sea. The mother turtles never see their babies. The hot sun keeps the eggs warm until they hatch（孵化）. Then the baby turtles will go back to the sea to begin their new lives. In the past, many people came to dig up the eggs after the mother turtles had left. They took the eggs to town to sell.

   Since 1962, the Malaysian government has built high fences around the sand beach to stop people from digging and selling the eggs, because people are afraid that there will be fewer and fewer turtles there.
