【題目】 Ladies and gentlemen, I returned to this year in a time machine. In the year 2500, we are able to travel through time to any year in the history of the earth. This year is your last chance to change your lifestyle to save the earth.

Beginning in the middle of the 20th century, a few people were worried about polluting the earth’s water and air, but most people did not change their way of life. Instead, they continued to pour dangerous chemicals and other waste into lakes and seas, to drive more and more cars and trucks, and to cut down trees.

By the year 2200, the earth’s water was completely polluted. People could no longer drink water, and they had to use other types of liquids.

So, by the year 2300, there were so many people that food became scarce. There was no water to grow food and all of the fish in the lakes and seas died because of the pollution. Terrible wars broke out between the rich and the poor. Scientists were working very hard to find another planet in space where humans could live.

By the year 2400, the air was too polluted for humans to breathe. So we had to leave the earth. Where did we go? Nowhere. The scientists did not find another safe planet, so now we must travel around the universe in our spaceships. We are still looking for a place to call our home.

So, it is up to change history. There is still hope. You must change your lifestyle now, before it is too late.

【題目】 The trees have been on the earth for millions of years.1Disease(疾病) is destroying trees. For example, in the 1970s, many trees in Europe were killed by disease.

2This new danger attacks all the forests and woods of Europe from northern Sweden to southern Italy. First the branches turn yellow and brown. Then the trees’ leaves fall. The roots and the trunk shrink(萎縮). Finally the trees die. In the Black Forest in southern Germany, 75of the trees have been destroyed or killed

3Nobody knows exactly, but it is probably air pollution or acid rain(酸雨). Factories, power stations and cars give off tons of smoke with acid into the air. Sunlight turns these into something harmful which fall with rain or snow onto the trees.

What can be done about acid rain?4

Acid rain doesn’t always fall on the countries which produce the pollution. The wind carries it from one country to another. Badly, the governments don’ t want to spend money on it if it won’ t harm the trees in their own countries.

【題目】閱讀短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。

Maya Penn, 14 years old, set up her eco-fashion line, Maya’s Ideas, when she was eight years old. She has spent much of the past six years designing and hand-making clothing out of cotton, bamboo, silk and wool. “No matter how big my collection grows,” she says, “I will always use eco-friendly materials to make the products.”

She gives 10 to 20 percent of her company’s profits (利潤) to some non-profit organizations (組織). In 2011, when she had too many ideas to have them in a clothing line, she founded her own non-profit organization, Maya’s Ideas for the Planet. Her sincere hope is to encourage others. Maya’s message is that you (yes, you!) can make a difference, no matter how small. We do not all have to design clothing lines and start non-profit organizations by the time we’re 14.

A few years ago, when she read about a local reuse-and-recycle event in the newspapers, she made flyers to put up around the city even though she was not the organizer. Now, she often visits schools to talk to students about environmental problems. Luckily for the planet, her creativity and interest for life is focused on environment protection. She has written two children’s books with environmental messages. These are printed on recycled paper.

In addition, Maya already finds something common that almost every environmentalist has in his or her life. She says that during her school visits, she has met a lot of young people who care but don’t know what to do. What’s going on in the environment seems like such a big matter that they feel they have to perform a big action, and they don’t know what that action should be.

This problem that whatever we do is too little to matter. “The reason it seems like there’s nothing happening,” she says, is because people are afraid to do anything they think won’t have results.

A small action leads to a big change, she says. “It has a ripple effect (連鎖反應(yīng)), whether that person knows it. You may be afraid to do anything but you don’t need to have a lot of confidence to do something.

But it is true that kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture. Like most people from the West, I was first introduced to kung fu through Hong Kong action films. Stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made kung fu popular in the Western world.

However, my own personal interest in kung fu was actually inspired by a hip-hop group. Wu-Tang Clan(武當(dāng)派), founded in the early 1990s in New York City, is one of the most influential hip-hop groups in history. In their songs, they sometimes mention philosophical concepts(哲學(xué)理念)that come from wudang quan and the Shaolin Monastery. I was just a teenager when I first started listening to Wu-Tang Clanlittle did I know that I would actually end up living in China later in my life!

I do not practice kung fu. However, the concepts behind it are quite interesting to me. There is a Bruce Lee that I often think of when I’m struggling with challenges in life. By this, he meant that you should be ready to adapt(調(diào)整)and change your attitudes when you face difficulties. I think this is a good way to deal with life.

1完成句子Wu-Tang Clan, founded in the___________in New York City.

2完成句子I started to listen to Wu-Tang Clan when I was a________________.
