【題目】 Everybody knows how important it is for students to get a good night's sleep every night. You aren't able to do your best and keep up with all of your responsibilities unless you sleep well. I'm sure you already know that you should go to bed at a reasonable hour. Most experts agree that the ideal number of hours is eight, and his has been accepted as common sense for as long as I can remember. However, I was young once and I know that most of you get much less sleep than that—and in some cases it will be affecting your schoolwork.
I read an interesting article in a teachers' magazine recently. they did a study of 848 students in Wales. Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed get up at suitable times but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night, not to use bathroom or have a snack but because of a new phenomenon: FOMO-fear of missing out!
According to the article, schoolchildren are suffering because of a growing trend(趨勢)to wake up during the night to check social media. Afraid of missing a comment or opportunity to take part in a chat teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online and getting involved. All this happens when they should be sound asleep.
Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report gives some worrying results that I'd like to share with you: 23% of 12 to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media. Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason. One in three students are often tired and unable to behave energetically in the daytime. Students who use social media during the night are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety.
So, I'd like to ask you to be responsible when it comes to social media. Be brave! Switch off your devices at night. The world won't end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning! I give you my word that you won't have missed anything important.

【題目】任務(wù)型閱讀
France has promised a worldwide effort to rebuild Notre-Dame Cathedral(巴黎圣母院) in Paris, the famous Christian church damaged(毀壞) by fire. Many people have been sharing pictures of themselves and their families visiting Notre-Dame. For many people, the building combines (結(jié)合)their personal memories with a long-established cultural heritage(文化遺產(chǎn)). Live images of the fire were broadcast and shared as firefighters struggled to contain the flames(火苗) that destroyed the building’s tall spire(圓頂) and its wooden roof.
The fire happened at a time when some social media companies are testing methods for fighting back against wrong information. But in the case of YouTube(網(wǎng)站名), its methods did not help stop wrong information from spreading. YouTube’s algorithm discovered the pictures of the burning Cathedral and sent users links(鏈接) about the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Links included Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Britannica entries(入口) about the 911 attack. Observers say the incident demonstrates some of the problems with automatic systems that are meant to correct misleading information.
French President Emmanuel Macron sent a message on Twitter(網(wǎng)站名) expressing sadness at the loss. U.S. President Donald Trump said that he offered sympathy to the head of the Catholic Church Pope Francis and offered U.S. experts to help build it.
Notre-Dame De Paris is among the most famous Catholic churches in the world and is the seat of Catholic leadership of Paris. The Paris public prosecutor is trying to find out the cause of the fire, which is probably linked to extensive renovation(翻修) work. France announced it would invite architects from around the world to propose designs to replace the spire that was destroyed in the fire. Prime Minister Edouard Philippes said a competition would decide whether the Cathedral should have a new design or be rebuilt as it was.

【題目】An east China highway pile-up on April 2nd has killed three people and injured 31 others. That day was the first day of a three-day national holiday marking the Tomb-Sweeping Day.
Two people died in a local hospital where nine others are being treated. Another person died after treatment failed in a larger hospital in Wuxi where 22 remain hospitalized, Changzhou traffic police updated on its official microblog account at Weibo.com.
The accident happened at the Changzhou section of the highway linking Shanghai and Nanjing. It drew public attention as people began posting photos and videos on Chinese social media WeChat and Weibo. Images showed dozens of trucks, buses and cars crashed into each other. People were standing on top of the vehicles.
Local police told Xinhua Press that at least two trucks, three buses and 20 cars were involved. Rainy and foggy weather caused poor visibility and slippery roads.
What’s more, it was difficult for ambulances (救護車)to get to the scene of the accident because the life emergency lane was filled with vehicles, which delayed the rescue of the injured.
The Ministry (部長) of Public Security told traffic departments nationwide to keep a look out for vehicles using the emergency lane occupancy.
All highways in China leave the right lane as the emergency lane. Some drivers, however, pay no attention to this rule. Therefore, the police call on drivers to follow the rule strictly and offer the injured more hope of being saved.
The ministry also asked the police to watch the traffic more carefully so as to quickly discover the potential (潛在的) danger. The police have decided to add electronic monitoring instruments to catch the violations (違規(guī)者) and heavily fine drivers for it.
