What would you do if a friend asked you to help cheat on an exam? Would you refuse them or decide to help? This kind of d1has been made easier by using the “four-way test”.

More than 230 eighth graders in a middle school in Colorado tried one such test on Nov 8. They came up with p2ways to difficult situations in school. For example, what would you do if a friend took your things w3asking you? Then they used the “four-way test” to decide which was the b4way.

The test asks four questions: Are you choosing an h5way? Is it f6to everyone involved(涉及的)? Will it build friendship? Will it be beneficial(有益處的)to everyone involved? If a person can say y7to all of these questions, it’s likely that he or she is making a good c8.

“It brings real-life experiences directly to the students,” Arnold Jahnke, principal of the school, told the Reporter Herald. “It causes the students to think about issues.”

Destiny Pritchard, 14, found the test to be u9. “If I help my friend cheat on exams, it’s not fair or beneficial to everyone involved. So that would be a bad decision,” he said. “S10there’s a lot of drama going on in school, the four-way test will help with that.”

Dakota Bowens, 14, plans to start using the four-way test. “It’s a new strategy(策略),” Bowens said. “If I get in fights and conflicts(沖突), I’m going to use it to keep strong.”

上文提到 “They came up with p____2____ways to difficult situations in school.”“他們想出一些可能的方法”,而運(yùn)用“四向測試”可以幫你決定哪一個(gè)是最好的。

根據(jù)下文 “it’s not fair or beneficial to everyone involved.”

根據(jù)句意 “it’s likely that he or she is making a good c____8____.”

make a choice是固定短語,“做選擇”。

根據(jù)下文Destiny所說的話 ““If I help my friend cheat on exams, it’s not fair or beneficial to everyone involved. So that would be a bad decision,” he said.”

On June 25, hundreds of people came together outside the Library of Congress in Washington D.C, and they were celebrating public libraries. For more than 100 years, libraries have played an important role in keeping American educated. But how are these book- filled buildings changing with the times? You may be surprised to find out.

Benjamin Franklin founded America’s first lending library in Philadelphia in 1731. And the number of public libraries greatly increased in the late 1900s. Andrew Carnegie, a businessman, gave away millions of dollars to help build free public libraries across the country. Between 1886 and 1919, Carnegie helped build 1,679 new libraries!

Carnegie believed that libraries could offer Americans many opportunities. He knew that the more libraries there were, the more people would have opportunities to read books and news. There are more public libraries in America than McDonald’s restaurants now.

The United States is home to 9,225 public libraries. Today , the number of libraries continues to grow. Seven out of ten public libraries offer free Internet use. This can help many community members who can’t go online at home. It can also help them to have the opportunity to find jobs online.

Benjamin Franklin once said, “The doors of wisdom are never shut.” As long as the doors of public libraries are open, his statement is most certainly true!

1Why did hundreds of people come together outside the Library of Congress on June 25?
