【答案】Dear Miss Brown,
I'm writing this letter to express my thanks to you for helping me with my English study during the past two years.
I can still remember how poor my English was when I came to junior high school. And I even felt frightened each time I had an English class. Knowing this, you communicated with me patiently and let me know the importance of learning English well. Then you even spent much of your free time helping me. With your help, I got good marks in the final examination. You are such a good teacher I have made great progress.
Next year I will keep working hard to get better grades and I wish you good health and all the best in the new year.
Yours,
Karen

In the deserts(沙漠)of North Africa and Saudi Arabia lives the smallest fox with the largest ears. This animal is the fennec fox.
Fennec foxes have ears that are 5 to 6 inches long. That's big for an animal that weighs less than four pounds. Their ears help shed (去除) body heat. And, as you may have guessed, they also provide great hearing.
It's also interesting to think about the hair of fennec foxes. Why would a fox that lives in the desert need a thick, fur coat? Actually, the desert isn't always warm. During the nighttime, a desert can be terribly cold! A fennec fox's fur keeps them warm during those desert nights. They also have long bushy tails that they use as a blanket. And the hair on their feet protects them from the hot sand in the daytime.
Fennec foxes live in small communities of dens (獸穴).They spend most of the day sleeping in their dens, out of the hot sun. Then, when night comes, they come out in search of food. In addition to(除……之外) their great hearing, fennecs also use their great sense of smell and big eyes to track down dinner.
Fennecs eat both meat and plants. They like eating birds, eggs, insects, snails, fruit and leaves best. Fennec fox mothers have one to five babies at a time. Sometimes they are in danger. They have to be careful with predators (捕食性動(dòng)物), such as caracals (a type of wild cat) , jackals, eagle owls, hyenas and humans. Humans catch them for their fur and to sell as pets.

【題目】閱讀下面的材料,在空白處填入適當(dāng)?shù)膬?nèi)容(1個(gè)單詞)或括號(hào)內(nèi)單詞的正確形式。 When someone asks you to do something that you do not feel like doing. What should you do? It's a good idea to say "no" at this time. It's better to spend more time some useful activities. , you may worry others will think you are impolite. What should you do? Here some tips that may help you.
It is OK to make white lies. That doesn't mean you are dishonest. Instead, it may make both you and the other person pleased and comfortable.
When you are (invite) to a party or some other events that you do not want to take part in, you can say, "No, but thanks for the invitation. That's very kind of you." In this way you can not only refuse (polite) but also make the person invited you feel comfortable.
When you don't want to lie, just tell the (true). You may say like this, "I want to spend more time on myself, so I've decided to say 'no' to these activities." In this way, people will see that you respect (you), and as a result they'll also pay you more respect.
My last suggestion is to just do it. You may feel uncomfortable at first, but this is not the reason for (say) "no". Never make anything more complicated(復(fù)雜的) than it is.
Feel proud of yourself for being strong enough to say "no".
