【題目】Procrastination is something that many people have experienced at some point in their life. The word comes from the Latin words “pro” meaning“for”and“cras”meaning “tomorrow”. But it can be more than just putting off work or a later time; it can be about giving up long-term goals for short-term desires(欲望).

A new phrase has been going around Chinese social media lately, with people describing themselves as “active losers”. It means that they set themselves many goals, but they always find excuses, and never really achieve them. In fact, they are just acing serious procrastination.

I once knew someone in my college who had to drop out (退學(xué)) because he preferred video games to study. He went to all his classes and was an active member of school clubs. However, his mind was never really on task. He spent all his free time playing games and believed he could still achieve good grades by "finishing the work tomorrow. That “tomorrow”was the end of the semester, and my college had to ask him to “take a break”.

For those of you who think: “ I'll never procrastinate that badly,” I ask you this: “When did you last set a fitness goal? A weight goal? A reading goal? How many years has it been?”Although a fitness goal may not be so important as school grades, it does not mean the goal should drag on for years. So stop making excuses for yourself; take actions right now and achieve your goals.

1The underlined word “procrastination” means _____in Chinese.

A. 妄想癥B. 拖延癥C. 強(qiáng)迫癥D. 多動(dòng)癥

2We can infer from the second paragraph that active losers are lack of (缺乏) ____.

A. long-term goalsB. short-term desires

C. proper excusesD. their self-control

3The main idea of Paragraph 3 is ____.

A. how the student achieved good grades

B. how procrastination affected the student's life

C. how the student fought against procrastination

D. how the student became an active member of school clubs

4The writer advises us to ____.

A. take a breakB. achieve good school grades

C. set a fitness goalD. start working towards our goals

5The writer thinks that_____.

A. active losers never procrastinate

B. there is no way to control procrastination

C. some people don't realize that they procrastinate

D. it's wrong to ask the student in his college to drop out

【題目】The painter Craigie Aitchison was born in Scotland. He came to London intending(打算)to study law, but went to art school instead. There he found the traditional drawing classes diffcult, but still kept on painting.

In his late twenties he was given money by the Italian government to study art and liked early Italian artists, which shows in some of his work. He loved the greens and browns of the Italian fields and the clear light there, and wanted to put this light into his paintings.

This led him to paint colours thinly one on top of another from light to dark, but he insists he's never sure what the results will be. He says, "It's a secret-because I don't know myself. I don't start by painting yellow, knowing I'm going to put anything on top." Like most talented people, Aitchison makes it sound easy. "Anyone can do the colours-you can buy them. I simply notice what you put the colours next to."

Unlike some artists, he never does drawings before he starts a painting, as he feels that if he did, he might get bored and not do the painting afterwards. Instead, Aitchison changes his paintings many times before they are finished. This explains why his favourite models are people who don't ask to see their pictures while he's painting them. "If I feel they're worried and want to look at the painting, I can't do it."

Since moving to London years ago, he has not felt part of the Scottish(蘇格蘭的)painting scene. He says he doesn't want to follow any tradition, but just paints the way he can. However, his work still influences young British painters.

1In the passage, the writer is trying to .

A. describe particular works by Craigie Aitchison

B. teach readers how to paint like Craigie Aitchison

C. introduce the artist Craigie Aitchison to the readers

D. explain how Craigie Aitchison has made money from painting

2What can the reader learn about Aitchison from the passage?

A. He works in a different way from other artists.

B. He often gets bored easily with his paintings.

C. He found the drawing classes easy at art school.

D. He was sure what his painting was like before drawing.

3Aitchison prefers models who don't .

A. keep moving around while he's working

B. ask him about his strange method of working

C. worry about how long the work will take

D. feel worried to see the work as it's developing

4What might a visitor at an exhibition say about Aitchison's work?

A. I love his recent painting of Scotland, which are very similar to a number of other Scottish painters.

B. You can still see the influence of his trip to Italy in some of these pictures.

C. You can tell he spent a lot of time drawing the picture before he started painting.

D. I wonder if his law training helps him at all, especially in selling his work.

【題目】Drugs(藥物)come in different ways. However, can you imagine that drugs come in chicken eggs? A team of scientists from England say that it can come true.
