11.I had been called to examine a ten-year-old dog(61)named (name) Belker.I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer.I told the family I couldn't do anything.
Shane,a six-year-old in the family,seemed so calm,petting the old dog(62)for the last time.I wondered if he understood what was(63)going (go) on.Within a few minutes,Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept the fact without any difficulty(64)or confusion.We sat together for a while after (65)Belker's (Belker) death,wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal(66)lives (life) are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, said,"I know why."
We all turned to him.What came out of his mouth next surprised me(67)greatly (great).I'd never heard a(68)more (much) comforting explanation.It has changed the way I try and live.
"People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life-like loving everybody all the time and(69)being (be) nice,right?"The six-year-old continued,"Well,dogs already know(70)how to do that,so they don't have to stay as long."

2.for;考查介詞.for the last time最后一次.

1.Man still has a lot to learn about the most powerful and complex part of his body-the brain.
It may be surprising to learn that it isn't age that makes you lose your memory. The reason could be that you have a"lazy"memory, not an old one.Like your body your memory improves with exercise.Once given plenty of exercise, the brain keeps its power. Before discussing how to improve the memory, let's look at how the brain works. There are two sides to the brain, the left and the right. The right side deals with the senses (what we see, hear, feel and smell). It's the creative and imaginative side. The left side is concerned with logic. It analyzes information and puts it in order.
Some recent research suggests that we remember everything that happens to us.The problem most of us has is recalling events. Most forgetting takes place immediately after learning. An hour after learning something new, more than 50% has been forgotten. After a month,80% has been forgotten, and so on.
This shows revision is very important. If you revise new material you have learnt, you remember much more.So it's of vital importance to revise newly learned material often, and have frequent breaks. We best remember what we learn at the beginning of a learning period and at the point where we stop. After the break, revise what was learned before the break and then continue learning the new material. These breaks should happen every 20 or 45 minutes.
Other experiments have shown the brain needs time to"digest"what has been learned. The time necessary for this is 5 to 10 minutes. After the break, the memory will have absorbed what it has just learned, and more will be remembered.During this period it is important to exercise the right side of the brain, because the left side is used during the learning period. Therefore you should relax.Listening to music, breathing in fresh air,and looking at a picture are all ways of using the other side of the brain. So when you are studying alone, make a plan which shows when to have breaks and to revise newly learned material immediately before you begin studying again. If you do in this way, your memory will improve.

4.Three-dimensional printers are fast becoming everyday devices in the United States.Three-D printers are used to make everything from automobile parts to bone replacements for human patients.American research scientists are now working on creating replacements for living tissue.
Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina have been working on creating and manufacturing living tissue since 2003.This process is called biofabrication (生物制造).It requires special printing equipment and a special kind of ink.
Traditional printers require ink to produce an image or design on a piece of paper.For their three-D printer,the South Carolina researchers prepare complex nutritious solutions they call bio-inks.Bio-inks are made of proteins and glucose (葡萄糖),which ormally provides energy for most cells of the body.The researchers also add living cells taken from the animal that will receive the new,printed tissue.The bio-inks are then added to a device that researchers call the Palmetto bio-printer.
Sarah Grace Dennis is one of the researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina.She says new technology,like the Palmetto bio-printer,is a great help to the biofabrication process.
The bio-inks are placed in three dispensers (分配器),containers,inside the printer.Lasers control both the position of the printing surface and the places where the bio-ink is released.
Michael Yost is a leader of the research team.He says the printing process is fully automated-machine-operated.He says that the Palmetto bio-printer makes it possible to create complex tissue types.
The researchers say bio-printing is still experimental.But they hope in a few years they may be able to print tissue to replace damaged human organs.
But there are still some problems which need to be solved.Some scientists worry about how to get blood to the replacement tissue.The flow of blood is important to keep the printed tissue alive.
Michael Yost hopes that more people will believe in the benefits of biofabrication.
"Tissue biofabrication is a reality,and it is a reality now,and if you come here and you get to see it.You will get to see it.You can't touch it,but you will see it and think this is real.And this is really human."

9.What can we know about the bio-inks?A
A.They are the necessities of bio-printing.
B.They only contain protens and glucose.
C.They can be placed in the traditional printers.
D.They are available in our local drugstores.
10.Which of the following is one of the concerns with biofabrication?C
A.Researchers can't find enough living cells of animals to make the bio-inks.
B.The price of the bio-printer is too high and most people can't afford it.
C.Scientists have some difficulty in getting the blood to the replacement tissue.
D.People are worried about the safety of the biofabrication process.
11.According to Michael Yost,we can infer thatD.
A.the Palmetto bio-printer can work without power
B.the Palmetto bio-printer has been used to treat the patients
C.the Palmetto bio-printer can only be found in the United States
D.the Palmetto bio-printer will have a bright future in medical use
12.The passage mainly tells us aboutB.
A.the three-D printer and its working principles
B.the bio-inks and their use in bio-printing
C.the spread use of the bio-printer in the USA
D.the growing demand for biofabrication.
