【答案】Dear editor,

I’m Li Hua,a senior school student.I want to say something about the traffic problems.Recently,I witnessed that a boy ran the red light and was injured by a speedy car. What a pity!

I noticed that more and more traffic accidents happened on the road, most of which resulted from people's breaking the traffic rules, such as disobeying traffic signals and moving on regardless of speed limits. When accidents

happen, what we lose is not only time and money but health or even our lives. The problem of traffic safety is an urgent one because it concerns the safety of all of us.

So the government should carry out effective management of the traffic systems and everyone should raise the awareness of traffic safety and strictly obey the traffic rules.

Yours sincerely,

Li Hua

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
Humans have launched themselves into the outer space. They've landed on the moon. They've built habitable space stations that orbit the Earth. The next giant leap for mankind is to reach another planet – specifically, Mars.
The problem is that it's no easy task. The planet is 586 times further away from the Earth than the moon, and it'll take around 180 to 220 days to reach Mars, depending on where each planet is in its orbit. Such long periods in space have suggested many potential health problems, including hormonal changes, skin conditions, and muscle and bone deterioration (損耗).
Here's where some furry friends come in. A wide range of animals have been in space, from fruit flies and spiders to cats, and dogs. Such experiments began as far back as the late 1940s in first tests to see if living things could withstand the extreme g-force (重力) of a rocket launch.
Mice continue to play a very important part in space experiments, mainly because the animals make excellent test subjects. They're small, which makes them inexpensive and easy to care for. In addition, their size and short life span make it possible to do the equivalent of several human years of tests in a much shorter time. Finally, because mice are mammals, they share many common characteristics with humans in terms of genetics, biology and behavior.
Astromice have hit the headlines recently, as a team of scientists led by Betty Nusgens, professor of biology at the University of Liege in Belgium, found that the mice suffered a 15 percent thinning of their skin after 91 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
This experiment was part of a wider NASA mission (任務(wù)) called the Mice Drawer System (MDS). The Italian Space Agency developed the facility, which allows six mice to be housed, monitored, and automatically fed and watered aboard the ISS, among which three survived during the mission.
The mice have participated in 20 separate experiments, to study such effects as osteoporosis (骨質(zhì)疏松癥), anemia (貧血) and heart health.
Results for the 20 experiments are coming in gradually. But it's clear that mice continue to play an important role in the ongoing quest to conquer the final frontier.
(1)We can infer from Paragraphs 2-3 that ______.
A.Mars is the farthest planet away from Earth discovered so far
B.animals that have been sent into space have mostly survived
C.it was in the late 1940s that animals were first sent to the ISS
D.the journey to Mars could put humans' health at risk
(2)The underlined word “withstand” in Para.3 means _________.
A.set up
B.come across
C.work out
D.hold up
(3)According to Betty Nusgens and her team, the mice aboard the ISS ______.
A.all survived for the duration(期間) of the mission
B.suffered the loss of part of their skin
C.were fed and watered by the astronauts
D.participated in 20 experiments that made great breakthroughs
(4)The main purpose of the article is to _____.
A.analyze how mice could pave the way to Mars
B.report on the results of the Mice Drawer System
C.describe the role mice play in scientific research
D.change people's traditional attitudes toward mice

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
Exercise may help to safeguard the mind against depression(沮喪) through previously unknown effects on working muscles, according to a new study involving mice.
Mental health experts have long been aware that even mild, repeated stress can contribute to the development of depression and other mood disorders in animals and people. Scientists have also known that exercise seems to cushion against depression. But precisely how exercise, a physical activity can reduce someone's risk for depression, a mood state, has been mysterious. So for the new study, researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm studied the brains and behavior of mice in a complicated and novel fashion.
We can't ask mice if they are feeling cheerful or in low spirits. Instead, researchers have pictured certain behaviors that indicate depression in mice. If animals lose weight, stop seeking out a sugar solution when it's available — because, probably, they no longer experience normal pleasures — or give up trying to escape from the cold-water zone just freeze in place, they are categorized as depressed. And in the new experiment, after five weeks of frequent but low-level stress, such as being lightly shocked, mice displayed exactly those behaviors. They became depressed.
The scientists could then have tested whether exercise blunts (延緩) the risk of developing depression after stress by having mice run first. But, frankly, from earlier research, they wanted to know how, so they bred pre-exercised mice. A wealth of earlier research by these scientists and others had shown that aerobic exercise, in both mice and people, increases the production within muscles of an enzyme (酶) called PGC-1alpha. The Karolinska scientists suspected(懷疑) that this enzyme somehow creates conditions within the body that protect the brain against depression. Then, the scientists exposed the animals, which without exercising, were in high levels of PGC-1alpha to five weeks of mild stress. The mice responded with slight symptoms of worry. But they did not develop depression. They continued to seek out sugar and fought to get out of the cold-water zone. Their high levels of PGC-1alpha appeared to make them depression-resistant(抵抗的). Finally, to ensure that these findings are relevant to people, the researchers had a group of adult volunteers complete three weeks of frequent endurance training, consisting of 40 to 50 minutes of moderate cycling or jogging. The scientists conducted muscle biopsies (活體檢查) before and after the program and found that by the end of the three weeks, the volunteers' muscle cells contained substantially more PGC-1alpha than at the study's start.
The finding of these results, in the simplest terms, is that “you reduce the risk of getting depression when you exercise,” said Maria Lindskog, a researcher at the Karolinska Institute.
(1)The researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm conducted the new study hoping to know ________.
A.if exercise cushions against depression
B.what can lead to depression in animals and people
C.if stress can contribute to the development of depression
D.how exercise contributes to reducing someone's risk for depression
(2)We can infer from the new experiment conducted by researchers at the Karolinska Institute that mice are depressed except when ________.
A.they attempt to escape from the cold-water zone
B.they stop searching for the sugar water
C.they stand still in place
D.they can't experience normal pleasures any longer
(3)Researchers asked a group of adult volunteers to complete three weeks of frequent endurance training in order to ________.
A.know if exercise can help to safeguard the mind against depression
B.know if they can endure 40 to 50 minutes of moderate cycling or jogging
C.ensure they can lose weight after moderate cycling or jogging
D.confirm the findings above are also relevant to people
(4)It can be concluded from the passage that ________.
A.the mice with high levels of PGC-1alpha are easier to develop depression
B.athletes are more likely to develop depression than ordinary people
C.the enzyme called PGC-1alpha helps to reduce depression
D.in the past mental health specialists didn't know exercise could help reduce depression

【題目】閱讀理解
Making a good job choice is almost as good as choosing a good life. So, choosing a job is one of the most important decisions to make in life.
For my job, there are three important things that I will consider: The first one—that I must work in an area I like—is most important to me. Someone once said if you find a job that you enjoy, then you won't have to work another day. I would like to work in an area where I can be more creative. I would like to be the most valuable member there. All this is possible only if I like what I do.
The second one is that the area of my work must lead me to solve some new and hard problems. I would like to stay in the same area for a long time. In order for this to happen, the work must provide enough problems. More than just working to live, I enjoy making a difference and trying my best for the whole progress. I would also like to be well remunerated for my hard work, so I can lead a comfortable life with this hard-won money. Then I can provide the best for my family.
The third important thing is that I would like to work in an area that would help other people. The work in my mind is in fields such as the army, training or management. In such areas, I can help to develop the abilities of others and bring out their best. It would be a most satisfying job to help young people to become the best that they can be. When I become old, I would like to look back with a great sense of satisfaction that thousands of people have become better persons through my work.
I accept the idea that no one should make a choice of a job suddenly or quickly. He should decide what he wants to be in the long run. Then, he should decide how he works towards it. He should study the proper courses, read the books and speak to knowledgeable persons in that field before making a job choice. A good choice will most probably lead to a better life.
(1)According to the passage, a good job choice probably makes people ________.
A.solve fewer problems
B.choose a good life
C.be good family members
(2)The writer considers an enjoyable job most important because ________.
A.he has to bring out his best
B.it can make him more creative
C.he will have to work another day
(3)The underlined word "remunerated" in the means"________.
A.trained
B.praised
C.paid
(4)The writer wants to tell us that everyone should ________.
A.become a knowledgeable person
B.join the army to become a better person
C.make preparations to find a satisfying job
(5)What is the best title for the passage?
A.My Job Choice
B.My favorite Job
C.My Comfortable Life

Are you satisfied with your life? How often do you think of reasons why everyone around you is successful though they are not usually better than you? What do you do wrong? Here are some things you should stop doing to be successful.
1)
Different people may interpret “success” in different ways: some of them measure it in money, other ones — in positive changes to people around them and the world. And do not worry about what other people think, and come after what makes you happy.
2)Do not believe anything without questioning it.
They are critical thinkers, and they understand that we are all ruled by our prejudices; so, they will always question new information.
3)Do not worry about all unpredictable things that may happen to you.
If you want to be successful, stop thinking about everything that MAY happen to you. Be ready to change your deeds and decisions when things suddenly don't go according to your plan.
4)Do not care about what other people think of you.
Your attempts to become “good” for everyone will turn into nothing but new worries, stresses, and problems. Successful people do not concentrate on quantity of people to please, but worry about their quality and focus on developing friendships with people they really care about.
Success is good, but you should understand that life will get depressing without friendship and love.
A. Try to feel comfortable with the reality and accept the fact your future can't be predicted.
B. Do not let others decide what “success” is for you.
C. As far as we all know, it's impossible to please all the people who surround us.
D. Do not wait for the “right time” to do anything.
E. Successful people never ignore or avoid problems, no matter how big and awful they seem.
F. Successful people do not just accept any new information to be true.
G. If you want to be successful, do not let others force their interpretation of success on you.
