Shyness can have a huge effect on your life. It can stop you from making any progress. 【1】 .
Make eye contact with everyone you talk to. It is so easy to look at the floor, the ceiling, anywhere but into the other person’s eyes. Looking directly at someone makes them see you in a different light. If they think you are confident, you will become more confident! If you find it really hard , at the very beginning, look just above the eyes, they will never know. 【2】
Start a conversation with a new person every day. Think of four or five things you could start a conversation with and then find at least one opportunity each day to talk to a new person. 【3】 Just exchanging a few words will get you used to talking to new people and you can gradually deal with it well as your confidence grows. Asking people something about themselves is often a good opener as it encourages them to talk!
【4】 Your body language has a huge effect on both how you feel and how other people perceive(認為) you. Walk around your home or garden as if you are the most important person in the world. Then go out and continue that; you really are the most important person in the world.

【題目】C
Maggie was very glad that James was not a frequent visitor to the house. In the children’s opinion, they had something that they couldn’t explain or understand about him and that excited their imagination. He stirred(激起) Maggie’s anger, however, so that she often said to her husband. “It’s mercy that brother of yours doesn’t come oftener.”
In fact James came once a year, unexpectedly, around eight o’clock in the evening, and he stayed for six hours of close discussion with his brother. His arrival was a signal to the children that their bedtime would be delayed. Not that he ever spoke to them or played with them. He took no notice of them, as if he was unable to see children, at least until the time came for him to go. Indeed, after his first greeting and a careless kiss, James took no notice of Maggie either, except to add, “You’ll be getting on with the supper, Maggie”. Such was his regard for her.
Maggie paid him back in her own way. She kept the children up, the four of them, to keep her company, she said, but of course they sang and made a noise and broke the endless sound of James’ voice. Very late, they dropped off to sleep in their chairs. Then, when James was about to go, Maggie woke them up and so more or less forced him to part with four shillings before he left. That gave her some satisfaction, for James, though rich, was unwilling to give or share what he had. He always went home by the last train, just after two o’clock.
Maggie’s children secretly stared at their uncle. They could not forget that he had in their mother’s words, “l(fā)ost two wives and taken a third”. They wondered about those two unfortunate, lost ladies. They asked each other what their fate(命運) had been, and if neither could ever be found again. James never brought his third wife with him nor ever mentioned her. The children decided that he must be so frightened of losing her that he never allowed her outside the door.
【1】Maggie never prepared anything special for James because ________.
A. he was a man difficult to please
B. she never knew when he was coming
C. she was too busy looking after her children
D. he never stayed long enough for a meal
【2】What do we know about Jame’s behavior?
A. He was a kind man, with love for the family.
B. He was unselfish, especially towards his brother.
C. He was anxious to please the family, especially the children.
D. He was rude to his sister-in-law.
【3】Maggie felt pleased when ________.
A. she paid James the money that she owed him
B. James gave some money to the children
C. she had to wake James up to catch his train
D. James thanked her for the nice supper
【4】The children did not realize that two of James’ wives ________.
A. were dead
B. suffered from loss of memory
C. had run away from him
D. might reappear one day

【題目】Imagine looking for your lost dog. You step into a cave(洞穴). But instead of the dog, you find beautiful cave paintings. You see paintings of horses, deer, and bison that are drawn in black, brown, red and yellow. Your first question would probably be "Who did this?"
This is what happened to four French boys in 1940. They found the Lascaux caves. The paintings the boys discovered in those caves are 17,000 years old. They were drawn by the ancient people called Cro-Magnons.
Cro-Magnons looked much like people of today. They used tools, such as fishing nets. But their art was extremely good. The main cave at Lascaux is called the Great Hall of Bulls, which has a picture of bulls and horses in many colors. The largest animal is 18 feet long. There are smaller animals, such as bison, stags(雄鹿) and a bear. There is also a strange spotted two-horned (兩只角的) animal.
To the left of the main cave are the most famous paintings that are the drawings of multicolored animals. One painting is called Little Horses. On the ceiling are horses and cows. The most unusual sight may be in the Shaft of the Dead Man where there is a thinoceros (犀牛), a carefully drawn dead man, a wounded bison and a bird.
Why did Cro-Magnon artists do these beautiful drawings on cave walls? Did the drawings call upon some magical power? Did the Cro-Magnon people hope that the drawings would bring good luck? There is one thing the paintings seem to tell us. The Cro- Magnons were interested in the world. They looked at beauty and they understood it.
【1】The author uses the word "you" in the first paragraph to _____.
A. pull the reader into the story
B. make it clear that this is a true story
C. give the reader good directions to find the caves
D. compare present-day readers with the Cro-Magnon people
【2】Most of the drawings in the caves are about _____.
A. boys B. tools C. dead men D. animals
【3】What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Cave paintings are beautiful.
B. Who found the beautiful cave paintings.
C. The Lascanx caves hold ancient colorful paintings.
D. Drawings of horses are on the walls of the Lascaux caves.

While I was taking a walk in the park near my home, I came across a crew make a new movie with one of my favorite actors in last Sunday morning. I didn’t have my camera with me at that time, but I rushed back home to get it. Unfortunate, by the time I got back, they have finished the scene. And the actors couldn’t be seen everywhere. I was really disappointing and about to leave when he walked out a building. He was right there in front of me! I couldn’t believe my luck----not only did I have my photo taken with her, but he signed his name on my shirt!
