【題目】 The eating habits your children pick up when they’re young will help them keep a healthy lifestyle when they’re adults. Here are some approaches parents can take to develop healthy eating habits in their children.

Guide your family’s choices rather than dictate foods. Make a wide variety of healthful foods available in the house. 1 Leave the unhealthy choices like chips, soda, and juice at the grocery store.

2 A child can feel hunger and fullness better when they eat at a slow pace. Before offering a second serving, ask your child to wait at least 15 minutes to see if they’re truly still hungry. This will give the brain time to register fullness. Also, that second serving should he much smaller than the first.

Eat meals together as a family as often as possible. Try to make mealtimes pleasant with conversation and sharing, not a time for scolding or arguing. If mealtimes are unpleasant, children may try to eat faster to leave the table as soon as possible. 3

Try not to use food to punish or reward your children. Withholding (不給) food as a punishment may lead children to worry that they won’t get enough food. For example, sending children to bed without any dinner may cause them to worry that they’ll go hungry. 4 Similarly, when foods, such as sweets, are used as a reward, children may assume that these foods are better or more valuable than other foods.

Discourage eating meals while watching TV. Try to eat only in a fixed area of your home, such as the dining room or kitchen. Eating in front of the TV may make it difficult to pay attention to feelings of fullness. 5

A. Pay attention to serving size.

B. And that may lead to overeating.

C. Encourage your children to eat slowly.

D. They then may learn to associate eating with stress.

E. Children are more willing to eat or try foods they help prepare.

During the National Day holiday, my parents and I paid a visit my grandparents by train. There was a large number of people and the train was crowded, but everyone helped those who had lots of baggages and behaved politely. Along the way, we enjoyed beautifully views. At the first, we saw one hill after another. Then what came into view were fields with green crops. After a six-hour trip, they arrived at our grandparents’ house. Exhausted although I felt, I was happy to see my grandparents, which I hadn’t seen for a long time. It’s really an excited trip because it was the first time that I had taken so a long-distance train.

【題目】閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)所給情節(jié)進(jìn)行續(xù)寫,使之構(gòu)成一個完整的故事。

A little boy selling magazines for school walked up to a house that people rarely visited. The house was very old and shabby and the owner hardly ever came out. When he did come out, he would not say hello to his neighbors or passers-by but simply just glare at them.

The boy knocked on the door and waited, sweating from fear of the old man. The boy’s parents told him to stay away from the house, and a lot of the other neighborhood children were told the same thing from their parents.

As he was ready to walk away, the door slowly opened. “What do you want?” the old man said impatiently. The little boy was very afraid but he had a quota(份額) to meet for school with selling the magazines. So he got up the courage and said, “Uh, sir, I am selling these magazines and uh, I was wondering if you would like to buy one from me.”

The old man just stared at the boy without a word. The boy could see inside the old man’s house and saw that he had dog figurines(小雕像) on the fireplace mantle. “Do you collect dogs?” The little boy asked. “Yes, I have many collections in my house. They are my family here and they are all I have.” The boy then felt sorry for the man, as it seemed that he was a very lonely soul.

“Well, I do have a magazine here for collectors. It is perfect for you. I also have one about dogs since you like dogs so much.” The old man was ready to close the door on the boy and said, “No, boy. I don’t need any magazines of any kind, now goodbye.”

The little boy was sad that he was not going to make his quota with the sale. He was also sad for the old man being so alone in the house that he owned. The boy went home and then had an idea. He had a little dog figurine that he got some years ago from an aunt. The figurine did not mean nearly as much to him since he had a real live dog and a large family.
