【題目】 A disastrous fire surrounded Notre Dame(巴黎圣母院)completely and destroyed large parts of the Gothic(哥特式的) architecture on Monday.

“Notre Dame is our history, our literature; part of our spirit, the place of all our great events, our wars, our liberations, the center of our lives" French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters in front of the still burning Paris landmark and promised to rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral.

“Notre Dame is burning, and know the sadness and this tremble felt by so many fellow French people. But tonight, I’d like to speak of hope too, "he said, announcing the launch of a fundraising campaign.

“Let’s be proud, because we built this cathedral more than 800 years ago, we’ve built it and, throughout the centuries, let it grow and improve it. So I gravely say tonight: we will rebuild it together, ”he added.

The disastrous fire engulfed(吞沒) the upper reaches of Paris’ towering Notre Dame Cathedral as it was undergoing renovations(翻新)。

Tourists and Parisians looked on horrified from the streets below. France’s Interior Ministry said firefighters might not be able to save the structure.

The fire collapsed the cathedrals’ spire(尖頂) and spread to one of its landmark towers "Everything is burning; nothing will remain from the frame, "Notre Dame spokesman Andre Finot told French media. The 12th-century cathedral is home to incalculable works of art and is one of the world’s most famous tourist attractions, immortalized by Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The cause of the fire was not known, but French media quoted the Paris fire brigade(消防隊(duì)) as saying the fire is “potentially linked" to a 6 million—euro($6. 88 million)renovation project on the church’s spire and its 250 tons of lead. Officials opened an investigation as Paris police said there were no reported deaths. Some 400 firefighters were battling the fire well into the night.

B.The structure was well saved by the firefighters.

C.People who were killed in the fire are some firefighters.

D.The fire was likely caused by a renovation project on the church’s spire.

3What does the underlined part probably mean?

A.The novel made the cathedral famous.

B.The cathedral is repeatedly mentioned in the novel.

D.The novel became more mysterious due to the cathedral.

這是一篇新聞報(bào)道。文章介紹了法國總統(tǒng)在燃燒的巴黎圣母院前的講話、巴黎圣母院的重要性、聞名原因以及對(duì)失火原因的調(diào)查。

1推理判斷題。由題干中“What Emmanuel Macron said”可將答案定位在文章2~4段內(nèi)。文章第二段中法國總統(tǒng)說的話是表示巴黎圣母院在人們心中的重要地位,由本段最后一句話可知,下邊兩段主要是總統(tǒng)表達(dá)了重建巴黎圣母院的信心。再由第三段尾句“announcing the launch of a fundraising campaign(宣布集資開始)”可知,總統(tǒng)就是想讓大家知道他們一定要重建巴黎圣母院。故選B。

2細(xì)節(jié)理解題。由最后一段中的the fire is “potentially linked” to a 6 million-euro ($6. 8 million) renovation project on the church’s spire and its 250 tons of lead.

故選A。

【題目】 Last April, on a Sunday, we took one of our “nowhere” drives. My husband was quietly driving along a back road. I was occupied in the front passenger seat watching the scenery.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my husband was struggling to look out of my window. This frightened me, since his eyes should be on the road in front of him. I asked him what he was looking at out of the windows, and he quietly replied, “Nothing.”

After a few minutes, I looked over at my husband and noticed a tear running down his cheek. I asked him what was wrong. This time he told me, “I was just thinking about Pop and a story he had once told.” It had something to do with Pop, his friend from childhood, and I wanted to know the story, so I asked him to share it with me.

He said, “When I was about 8 years old, Pop and I were out fishing and he told me that the pine trees know when it is Easter.”

I had no idea what he meant by that, so I pressed him for more information.

He continued on... “The pine trees start their new growth in the weeks before Easter because spring is drawing near. If you look at the tops of the pine trees, you will see the yellow shoots(嫩芽). As the days get closer to Easter Sunday, the tallest shoot will branch off and form a cross. By the time Easter Sunday comes around, you will see that most of the pine trees will have small yellow crosses on all of the tallest shoots.”

I turned to look out of the window and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a week before Easter, and you could see all of the trees with the tall yellow shoots stretching to the sky.

The tallest ones shone in the sunlight like rows of tiny golden crosses. May you find your Easter season filled with beautiful golden crosses!
