A decorator has decorated his new house to help his wife in her battle with dementia(癡呆).

Matt Wood recently moved back to Scotland with his wife Julie, 75, after she was diagnosed (診斷)with the illness. The couple had lived in Berkshire for 30 years but now returned to their home town, Motherwell, Lanarkshire, to be closer to their family.

When Mr. Wood, 75, was told that any big changes in surroundings could cause anxiety in people with dementia, he was worried that Julie would be upset by moving from her normal surroundings. Therefore he decorated their new house in exactly the same way as their old one.

“Julie was diagnosed with dementia in 2009, and we moved back to our hometown in May to be near family for extra support. I had a long, hard thought about what I could do to make the change as easy as possible for Julie.”

From the color scheme to the skirting(墻角線), fireplace to fittings, the decoration of the house exactly copied their former home. He also placed decorations and family photographs in the exact same positions they had in their previous home.

Group–buying in China

Modeled after US hot website Groupon.com, group buying websites are now popular in China. These websites use the power of group buying to get competitive discounts (打折)for a daily deal on some best stuff to do, see, eat and buy in the cities across China. Discounts are available within just one click. Zhao lei, a software engineer in Beijing, loves the one-hour lunch break at noon, as it is the best time for him to check “today’s special” at his favorite group buying websites . In doing so, he often gets a certain cut off the price. At some sites, buyers are invited to leave notes about what they want to buy and the website will consider it if similar applications(申請(qǐng))reach a certain number.
