The Johnson family from England believe they are lucky to be alive after surviving an incredible incident off the coast of Australia. The Johnsons had been      that they might see some whales when they were _    a yacht (帆船)— a large expensive boat for a 10-day sailing      around the Whitsunday Islands.     , they had no clue just how      their viewing would be. Two hours into their journey a nine-meter-long humpback whale      out of the ocean and crashed into their boat before returning to the water.
Mark Johnson, the eldest son,was sailing the yacht when he heard an immense bang and a thud(重?fù)袈?.He     thought the yacht had hit a rock. However, when he looked up, he saw the whale      down the deck of the boat. He told the reporters, “ We were staring into its right eye. It was a very     _ moment. The eye was about the      of a dinner plate. It was huge.”
for the Johnson family, no one was hurt, but the yacht suffered      damage. The whale had ruined the mast and rigging — the pole and ropes which hold the      ——and so the family was left      at sea, 10 miles from the shore. The      equipment was also damaged, but fortunately they had a cell phone and were able to call for help.
Why the whale jumped onto the yacht is a    ,but the family thinks that maybe the boat had not      sailed between the whale and its baby calf. Perhaps the whale was trying to      its calf when it jumped, hit the yacht by chance.
Whatever the reason, people are completely      that this incident happened. There is over 135 million square miles of ocean , so what are the      of a whale jumping onto a 30-foot-long yacht? The chance of something like this happening is miniscale, but it just shows that life is full of surprises.

由下文they had no clue just how...
由后文的a large expensive boat for a 10-day sailing...及two hours into their journey ... Mark Johnson,the eldest son,was sailing the yacht告訴讀者駕船的是他們的長(zhǎng)子,可知這是租船之后的自駕游,否則開船的就該是船舶公司的人了。故選A。
Two hours into their journey 他們就碰到了鯨魚,體現(xiàn)了how close。
leap out of意思為jump out of。這與空后的crash into以及下文中a whale jumping onto a 30-foot-long yacht呼吁。
故選A。
此處用Luckily與后文no one was hurt.
故選A。
Sail 船帆,hold the sail拉住船帆。
by all means盡一切辦法;in no time立即;from then on從那時(shí)起;with no way沒(méi)辦法。
故選A。
but the family thinks that maybe...
See看見(jiàn);touch接觸;tend傾向于;reach達(dá)到。
故選A。

“How lucky you are to be a doctor…” Anyone who’s a doctor is right out of luck, I thought. Anyone who’s studying medicine should have his head examined.
You may think I want to change my job. Well, at the moment I do. As one of my friends says-even doctors have a few friends-it’s all experience. Experience! I don’t need such experience. I need a warm, comfortable, undisturbed bed of my own. I need it badly. I need all telephones to be thrown down the nearest well, that’s what I need.
All these thoughts fly round my head as I drive my Mini(微型汽車) through the foggy streets of East London at 3:45 a.m. on a December morning. I am a ministering angel in a Mini with a heavy coat and a bag of medicines. As I speed down Lea Bridge in the dark at this horrible morning hour, the heater first blowing hot then cold, my back aching from the car-seat, I do not feel like a ministering angel. I wish I were on the beach in southern France. Call me a bad doctor if you like. Call me what you will. But don’t call me at half past three on a December morning for an ear-ache that you have had for two weeks.
Of course, being a doctor isn’t really all bad. We do have our moments. Once in a while people are ill, once in a while you can help, once in a while you get given a cup of tea and rock-hard cake at two o’clock in the morning-then you worry if you have done everything. But all too often ‘everything’ is a repetitious rule: look, listen, feel, tap, pills, injection, phone, ambulance, away to the next.
And then there is always the cool, warm voice of the girl on the switchboard of the emergency bed service who will get your patient into hospital for you-the pleasant voice that comes to you as you stand in the cold, dark, smelly, dirty telephone box somewhere in a dangerous section of town. Oh, it has its moments, this life does.

Oscar-winning actress Joan Fontaine, who rose to fame during Hollywood's golden age as the star of several Alfred Hitch.cock classics, died from natural causes at her home in Carmel, northern California on December 16, 2013 aged 96, US media reports said.
Born in Japan to British parents, Fontaine moved in 1919 to California, where she and her elder sister -screen idol Olivia de Havilland-were to shape successful movie careers.Fontaine and de Havilland remain the only sisters to have won lead actress honours at the Academy Awards.Yet the two sisters also had an uneasy relationship, with Fontaine recording a bitter competition in her own account "No Bed of Roses ".
Fontaine began her acting career in her late teens with Largely less important roles on the stage and later in mostly B-movies in the 1930s. It was not before famous British film director Hitchcock spotted her a decade later that her career took off.
Greatly surprised by her expressive looks, the suspense (懸念) master cast Fontaine in his first US film, a 1940 adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier novel "Rebecca". She received an Academy Award nomination(提名) for her performance as a troubled wife. A year later, Fontaine finally won the long-sought golden figure, for her role as leading lady in "Suspicion" opposite Cary Grant, becoming the first and only actress to earn the title for a Hitchock film.
Although her sister, Olivia de Havilland, preceded her in gaining Hollywood fame, Fontaine was the first of the sisters to win an Oscar, beating Olivia's nomination as best actress in Mitchell Leisen's "Hold Back the Dawn".
The dislike ,between the sisters was felt at the Oscars ceremony."I froze. I stared across the table, where Olivia was sitting.'Get up there!' she whispered commandingly," Fontaine said."All the dislike we'd felt toward each other as children…all came rushing back in quickly changing pictures…I felt Olivia would spring across the table and seize me by the hair."
Olivia did not win her first Oscar until 1946, for her role as the lover of a World War I pilot in Leisen's " To Each His Own". Fontaine later made it known that her. sister had slighted her as she attempted to offer congratulations.“She took one look at me, ignored my hand, seized her Oscar and wheeled away,” she said.
The sisters were also reportedly competitors in love. Howard Hughes, a strange businessman who dated the elder de Havilland for a time, offered marriage to Fontaine several times."I married first, won the Oscar before Olivia did, and if I die first, she'll undoubtedly be extremely angry because I beat her to it!" Fontaine once joked.
As her film career fruited in the 1950s, Fontaine turned to television and dinner theatre, and also appeared in several Broadway productions, including  the Lion in Winter". A month went by in this manner , but a month was all I could bear .
The memory of Marguerite accompanied me wherever I went . I had loved that woman --- still loved her --- too much for her suddenly to mean nothing to me . Whatever feelings I might have for her now , I had to see her again . At once .

I knew Marguerite . Meeting me so unexpectedly must have thrown her into a state of great confusion . Probably , she had heard of my departure which had set her mind at rest as to the consequences of our sudden parting . But , seeing me back and coming face to face with me , pale as I was , she had sensed that my return had a purpose , and must have wondered what was going to happen .
If , when I saw her again , Marguerite had been unhappy ; if , in taking my revenge (復(fù)仇), there had also been some way of helping her , then I might well have forgiven her , and would certainly never have dreamed of doing her any harm . But when I saw her again , she was happy , at least on the surface . Another man had ensured her the luxury (奢侈)in which I had been unable to keep her . She brought shame both to my pride and my love ; she was going to have to pay for what I had suffered .
I could not remain indifferent (冷漠)to what she did now . It followed that the thing that would hurt her most would be exactly for me to show indifference . Indifference , therefore , was the feeling which I now needed to pretend , not only in her presence but in the eyes of others .
I tried to put a smile on my face , and I went to call on Prudence with whom Marguerite was staying .
Prudence saw me to the door , and I returned to my apartment with tears of anger in my eyes and thirst for revenge in my heart and thought only of finding a way to make the poor creature suffer .
