【題目】We will hear what he must say and observe what he will do for what he says and what he does often _______.

A. don’t agree B. isn’t consistent

C. aren’t consisted D. doesn’t agree

【答案】A

【解析】考查主謂一致。句意為我們會聽到他必須說的話,觀察他為他所說的話做些什么,他所做的往往不一致。agree的主語為what he will do for what he says and what he does often,謂語動詞用復數(shù)形式,often提示我們時態(tài)應該是一般現(xiàn)在時,故選A。

【題目】閱讀下列短文,選出最佳選項。

There is a large percentage of Asian people in the US. They’re hard working, respectful but strange sometimes. If you don’t understand the culture, you will get some problems with them. Asian people are different from any other cultures if you think you know them, you might want to think again.

How are they different? When it comes to most Asian culture, respect is everything. You can do anything you want but don't disrespect an Asian man. You will get some real consequences afterward and especially if he is your boss. It’s something called face saving in the Asian culture. It’s ridiculous sometimes but it’s their culture. Sometimes their culture can come in between their relationship at work. Asian people might expect a lot of respect from their co-workers when their co-workers just see them as an equal.

Americans are very different from Asian people. If you’re Asian, you might want to understand the American culture and even adapt to their culture if you work with them. It will be easier for you since you’re in their countries. Imagine an American working in China, expecting Chinese co-workers to get along with him when he criticizes them straight out on every single matter in front of everyone. I think they will take him outside and take care of him. It just doesn’t work that way with Asian people.

If you’re an American boss giving your Asian employee a review, you will see that they will have a problem with your negative remarks. They will think that you don’t like them, disrespectful, and want to get rid of them; when in fact, you’re just doing your job. You just encourage them to do their work better. Of course, it’s not fair for you as an American boss but just expect that it can be something that is on your Asian employee’s mind.

【1】The Americans can’t get along well with the Asians probably because______.

A. their cultures are different.

B. they don’t like each other.

C. both of them are too proud.

D. they have different political views.

【2】The underlined phrase “face saving” in Paragraph 2 probably means_____.

A. saving some money for later use.

B. making faces to please your boss.

C. showing some respect to somebody.

D. helping somebody out of trouble.

【3】From the third paragraph we can know that it is difficult_________.

A. for the Asians to accept the culture in America.

B. for the Americans to adapt to the culture in China.

C. for people to learn the culture in a foreign country.

D. for people to follow the culture in their own country.

【4】The negative remarks an American boss gives on your work probably mean he/she _____

A. doesn’t like you any longer.

B. thinks you are not worth respecting.

C. doesn’t think you are suitable for the job.

D. wants you to improve your work.

Researchers around the world have been trying their hand at making better use of the huge amount of wind energy available in nature to produce clean energy.Apart from this, studies are being carried out to harness(利用) usable wind energy produced by man-made technologies.

One useful source identified by Indian inventor Santosh Pradhan about two years ago is a speeding train, which produces fierce wind that can be transformed into electricity.

According to Pradhan’s proposal, with a few small improvements in existing trains running in Mumbai, the largest city in India,at least 10,000 megawatts(兆瓦) of electricity could be harvested each day.

Building on this principle, designers Ale Leonetti Luparinia and Qian Jiang from Yanko Design have created a device(裝置) called T-Box that harnesses wind energy from speeding trains.

T-Box can be placed within the railway tracks. It is half-buried underground between the concrete sleepers(水泥枕木),which does not disturb the normal train operating at all.According to Yanko, around 150 T-Boxes can be fitted along a 1,000-meter railway track.

A train running at a speed of 200 kph can produce winds blowing at 15 miles a second.Based on this calculation,150 T-Boxes can produce 2.6 KWH of electricity per day.The T-Box’s design won a silver medal in last year’s Lite-On Awards and was exhibited last summer at the Xue Xue Institute in Taipei,Taiwan Province.

Though the figures look impressive,it is important to remember that the design is still at a conceptual stage and hasn’t taken into account issues such as pieces of waste material produced by the device and the efforts and costs involved in the maintenance(維護) of the device.

We can expect the technology to see the light of the day only after it clears these issues. If so,rail travel, one of the greenest forms of travel, will become greener and 【1】What can we learn about T-Box?

A.It will be fitted on the trains.

B.It is based on Pradhan’s idea.

C.It can turn electricity into light.

D.It was invented by an Indian scientist.

【2】How much electricity can be produced per day by T-Boxes along a railway track of 100km?

A.260 KWH. B.2.6 KWH.

C.150 KWH. D.1.5 KWH.

【3】It can be concluded from the last two paragraphs that ______.

A.T-Box has proved to be effective in harvesting wind

B.the maintenance of T-Box will be costly

C.there is much to do about T-Box

D.T-Box will come into use soon

【4】According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?

A.The Indian inventor Santosh Pradhan invented the speeding train.

B.The T-Box’s design won a silver medal in Lite-On Awards last year.

C.Rail travel has become one of the energy-efficient technologies in the world.

D.The India harvests 10,000 megawatts of electricity each day on average.

【5】The passage is mainly written to _______.

NOWADAYS, most animated (動畫) films rely heavily on computer technology. But his magical world where witches (魔法師) cast spells and castles float in the sky is brought to life by hand. Nevertheless, Hayao Miyazaki is referred to as Japan’s Walt Disney and considered by many to be the world’s greatest living animator.

This month, the 72-year-old Miyazaki announced his retirement. The Japanese animator has directed 11 animated full-length films over the past four decades, including the Oscar-winning Spirited Away (《千與千尋》) and his latest release, The Wind Rises (《起風了》), which tells the life story of a man who designed Japanese World War II fighter planes.

Just as The Wind Rises shows, Miyazaki is well-known for his obsession with flight, especially human flight. Other striking aspects of Miyazaki’s films include his themes of environmental protection and the horrors of war.

Miyazaki’s work is also famous for its lack of clearly defined good and evil characters. He sees the 21st century as a complex time when old norms need to be re-examined.

As a storyteller, he is an inventor of fairy tales full of mystery. In the Miyazakian universe, wizards (巫師) turn into birds of prey; young girls are transformed overnight into 90-year-old women; greedy parents are changed into pigs; and shooting stars become fire demons (惡魔).

As a visual (視覺的) artist, most of Miyazaki’s grace comes from his vivid (鮮明的) colors and lovingly drawn landscapes a rolling meadow (草地) covered with flowers and shadowed by clouds, or a range of rocky hills rising toward snow-capped mountain peaks

People attribute Miyazaki’s success to his long pursuit of his hand-drawn technique, although in an interview with CNN he called himself an “extinct species” in the age of digital animation.

A recent television documentary on the making of The Wind Rises showed a disappointed Miyazaki throwing a pile of drawings into the trash. He is said to have redrawn thousands of frames of the much-praised Princess Mononoke (《幽靈公主》) when they did not meet his standards.

But his huge attention to detail has earned him the respect of the entire animated film world. Even John Lasseter head of Pixar, the famous US computer animation studio once called Miyazaki “one of the greatest filmmakers of our time”.

【1】What can we know about Miyazaki’s film The Wind Rises?

A.It was put on a long time ago.

B.Its hero is a soldier.

C.It describes horrors of war.

D.It is an Oscar-winning film.

【題目】閱讀理解。

To most people, noise pollution is a jet flying over their heads. For one Spanish woman, it is a neighbor playing the piano. The woman has taken her neighbor to court. Now she wants to send her neighbor to prison for over seven years on the charges of psychological damage and noise pollution.

In a country known for its noisiness, the case has raised eyebrows. Neighbors often complain about street noise in Spain, but people seeking prison time for someone practicing the piano is unheard of. At the trial, Sonia Bosom says she has been suffering noise pollution up to now due to the practice sessions of Laia Martin, who lives below her. Martin, 27, didn't admit that she played at home that often, saying she took regular classes in other towns and mostly practiced at home on the weekends.

On the first day of the trial, the newspaper reported that Bosom told the court she now hated pianos so much that she couldn't even stand seeing them in a film.

Bosom says years of hearing constant playing has caused her “psychological injury”. Medical reports show she has suffered from a variety of problems, including insomnia (失眠), anxiety, and panic attacks.

She says tests by local authorities have found that the sound levels made by the piano are up to 10 decibels (分貝) higher than the limit. City authorities have asked the family several times to either stop the piano playing or soundproof (隔音) the room. The family told the court they carried out soundproofing work twice but the complaints continued.

The court hasn't made a final decision. A spokeswoman says the trial will end before May.

【1】Bosom wants to send Martin to prison because ________.

A.Martin's playing the piano damaged her health

B.Bosom suffered from heart attack

C.Martin refused to take regular classes in other towns

D.Martin flew a jet over her head

【2】How did Laia Martin respond to the complaints?

A.She stopped playing the piano.

B.She soundproofed the room.

C.She didn't admit she played at home.

D.She took her neighbor to court.

【3】Which of the following may probably be the best title for the passage?

A.A 7year Sentence Caused by the Piano

B.Pianist Charged with Noise Pollution

C.Health Problems of a Spanish Woman

D.Actions Against Noise by Local Authority
