Dear Abbly,
How are you? Today I’ve got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further education. One hundred and twenty students take exams for it, but only a few was chosen and I was one of them. Therefore, my parents are not happy about it. They are strong against me. They say it is too far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid that I will feel lonely. They can’t imagine a girl so young living alone. They advise me to studying in the capital instead. Then I’ll be able to continue living with him. How can I persuade them to accept the fact what I have grown up?
Best wishes,
Jane
【答案】
【1】a去掉
【2】加入been
【3】take改為took
【4】was改為were
【5】Therefore改為However
【6】strong改為strongly
【7】too改為so
【8】studying改為study
【9】him改為them
【10】what改為that
【4】was改為were 本句的主語是a few,謂語動詞應(yīng)該使用復(fù)數(shù)形式were。
【7】too改為so 本句是固定句式so…that…
【9】him改為them 本句中使用them代替parents。

I was born in Tuckahoe,Talbot Country,Maryland. I have no accurate(準(zhǔn)確的)knowledge of my age, never having seen any record containing it. By far the larger part of the slaves know as little of their ages as horses know of theirs, and it is the wish of most masters within my knowledge to keep their slaves thus ignorant(不知情的).I do not remember having ever met a slave who could tell of his birthday. They seldom come nearer to it than plantingtime, harvesting, springtime,or falltime. A lack of information concerning my own was a source of unhappiness to me even during childhood. The white children could tell their ages, but I could not tell. Why the same right ought to be taken away from me!I was not allowed to ask my master about it. He considered all such questions on the part of a slave improper and impolite. The nearest estimate(估計)I can live makes me now between twentyseven and twentyeight years of age. I come to this, from hearing my master say, some time during 1835,I was about seventeen years old. My mother was named Harriet Bailey. She was the daughter of Isaac and Betsey Bailey, both colored, and quite dark.
My father was a white man. The opinion was also whispered that my master was my father;but of the correctness of this opinion,I know nothing and I have no means to know. My mother and I were separated when I was but an infant—before I knew her as my mother. It is a common custom,in the part of Maryland from which I ran away,to part children from their mothers/span> at a very early age. Frequently, before the child has reached its twelfth month, its mother is taken from it,and hired out on some farm a considerable distance off,and the child is placed under the care of an older woman, too old for field labor.
【1】It can be learned from the text that________.
A.the slaves forgot the exact time when they were born
B.the writer didn't know whether his master was his father
C.the writer was about twentyseven years old in 1835
D.the writer's mother left him as soon as he was born
【2】The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refers to________.
A.their birthday B.my age
C.a(chǎn) record D.Maryland
【3】The author was most probably raised________.
A.by his grandparents
B.by an old woman slave
C.with his master's support
D.together with other children
【4】How does the writer feel about not knowing his age?
A.Curious. B.Unhappy.
C.Astonished. D.Ashamed.

In Greek mythology, the Trojan(特洛伊) War was started against the city of Troy by the Greeks after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is one of the most important events in Greek mythology and has appeared in many works of Greek literature, most notably through Homers(荷馬) Iliad. The Iliad relates a part of the last year of the siege(包圍) of Troy; the Odyssey describes the journey home of Odysseus, one of the war’s heroes. Other parts of the war are described in a cycle of epic poems(史詩), which have survived through fragments. The war provided material for Greek tragedy and other works of Greek literature, and for Roman poets including Virgil and Ovid.
The war originated from a quarrel between the goddesses Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite, after Eris, the goddess of strife and discord(不和諧), gave them a golden apple marked “for the fairest”. Zeus sent the goddesses to Paris, who judged that Aphrodite, as the “fairest”, should receive the apple. In exchange, Aphrodite made Helen, the most beautiful of all women and wife of Menelaus, fall in love with Paris, who took her to Troy. Agamemnon, king of Mycenae and the brother of Helen’s husband Menelaus, led an expedition of Greek troops to Troy and besieged the city for ten years because of Paris’ insult. After the deaths of many heroes the city fell to the ruse(策略) of the Trojan Horse. The Greeks slaughtered(大屠殺) the Trojans and desecrated(褻瀆) the temples, thus earning the gods’ great anger. Few of the Greeks returned safely to their homes.
The ancient Greeks treated the Trojan War as an historical event which had taken place in the 13th or 12th century BC, and believed that Troy was located in modern-day Turkey near the Dardanelles. As of the mid-19th century, both the war and the city were widely believed to be non-historical. In 1868, however, the German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann met Frank Calvert, who convinced Schliemann that Troy was at Hissarlik; this claim is now accepted by most scholars. They believe that there is a historical core to the tale. However, whether there is any historical reality behind the Trojan War is still an open question.

【題目】Would you eat a ready meal from the fridge rather than cook by yourself ? Have you been doing Internet shopping rather than going to the stores?
A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of the adults are so lazy that they’d catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.
Just over 2,000 people were quizzed by independent researchers in the Britain’s largest health center. The results were very surprising.
About one in six people who were asked said if their control was broken, they would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.
More than one third of those asked said they would not run to catch a bus. Worryingly, of 654 respondents (離婚被告) with children, 64% said they were often too tired to play with them.
We know that it’s no wonder that one in six children in the UK are very fat before they start school.
Dr Sarah, Dauncey, medical director of the center, said, “People need to get fitter, not just for their own health, but for their families, friends and pets, too.”
“If we don’t start to take control of this problem, a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most basic tasks.”
And Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, was shamed as the laziest city in the UK, with 75% asked thinking they do not get enough exercise, followed by Birmingham and Southampton, both with 67%.
So there are some problems for the National Health Service, where fatness-related (相關(guān)的) illnesses such as heart disease and cancer have been on an increase for the past 40 years and are costing billions of pounds every year.
