【題目】If you do not use your arms or legs for some time, they become weak; when you start using again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows this , and nobody would think of questioning the fact. 【1】 When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by exercising it regularly, either consciously or unconsciously. When someone else says that his memory is poor , he really means that he does not give it enough opportunity to become strong. 2 One of them exercises his arms and legs by playing tennis, while the other sits in a chair or motor car all day.

If a friend complains that his arms are weak, we know that it is his own fault. 3 , many of us think that his parents are to blame, or that he is just unlucky, and few of us realize that it is just his own fault. Not all of us can become extremely strong or extremely clever; but all of us can, if we have ordinary bodies and brains, improve our strength and our memory by the same means—practice.

Have you ever noticed that people who cannot read or write usually have better memories than those who can? 4 Of course, because those who cannot read or write have to remember things; they cannot write them down in a little notebook. They have to remember dates, time and prices, names, songs and stories; so their memory is the wholespan> time being exercised.

5 ,learn from the poor:practice remembering.

A. What do you think of it ?

B. Yet many people do not seem to know that the memory works in the same way.

C. But if he tells us that he has a poor memory

D. So if you want a good memory

E. When someone else says that he is poor in the health

F. Why is this ?

G. The position is exactly the same as that of two people.

Seven ways to find out what you really want in life

Be good to yourself

You can’t pinpoint(準(zhǔn)確指出) exactly what you want in life .You’re constantly sacrificing your time and dreams for other people.1Ask yourself: if you weren’t tied down by your job, family, or anything else, then what would you be doing right now?

Regret nothing

To be good to yourself is not selfish. It’s your life. It’s time for you to live it exactly the way you want to. If you constantly regret things you did or didn’t do in the past, then you won’t be able to move forward.2

Figure out what you need

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what you need. Sit down and think about what you need most. The freedom to express yourself? Love? Financial security? Something else? If it helps, you can make a list. Also think about the kind of legacy(遺產(chǎn)) you want to leave behind.

3

You can fly only by pushing back against something you don’t want. Figure out what upsets you, and be specific about it. Don’t just say that you hate your office job. Pinpoint exactly why you hate it. Could it be your strict boss? Your workload? Your meaningless job title? Or all of the above?

Determine what makes you truly happy

There’s no life to waste if you’re happy with living it. Think about what makes you happy. Being around children? Is it traveling? Owning a successful business? Financial freedom?4

Let people around you know what you’re trying to achieve

Don’t keep your goals and desires to yourself. Voice it all out! If you tell people what you’re trying to accomplish, they will most likely support you and give you new ideas. Sometimes mother does know best!

Stay positive

Life doesn’t always go how you want it. Don’t feel discouraged as your plans stray(偏離). Take control. Instead of being anxious, try your best to advance with the changes. You will get there someday.5You’re just taking a little detour.

ADon’t live in the past but live in the present!

BSometimes a positive attitude is all you need to keep going.

CDetermine what really bothers you.

DOnce you pinpoint the one thing that makes you happy the most, you’ll have a pretty clear idea of what you should struggle hard to get in your life.

E. You have to put yourself first, because if you don’t, then no one else will.

F. Determine what you are going to do next.

G. You should think of things positively.

By “l(fā)uxury(奢侈品)”, we mean "a pleasant and often expensive thing that is not necessary". From a historical point of view, things which were a luxury when they first came into being all became necessities later.

Anything, no matter1luxurious it is, will become a necessity, when it is widely used. This is true of many of the present luxuries, among which mobile phones, cars, computers and many other things2(include). It is known to all that the purpose of the development of science is3(make) things easy for the mankind, not for only4small number of people.5, the first thing to do after a new invention occurs is to spread it so as to benefit6many people as possible. In the course of the spread, the luxury becomes decreasingly luxurious until7the end it becomes a necessity. This is an objective law, and8can be an exception.

With the quick9(develop) of science and technology, the process for many things to become a necessity from a luxury will be greatly shortened. Anything that can be imagined will be invented and in no time becomes a necessity10(access) to ordinary people.
