I have trusted the Shoe People to protect the feet of my employees for over ten years now.I recently purchased a few pairs of boots from your company for my crew.Though my men were initially satisfied with the boots,the soles(鞋底) began to fall apart on them after just twelve weeks.This was extremely surprising considering they came with a six year warranty(擔(dān)保).The boots are unsafe to wear because my men are pouring hot concrete.Please respond as soon as possible with instructions on how I can return the boots and receive a refund.

1.Parents'meetings may be your worst nightmare (噩夢).However,that's not always the case.The parents'meeting we had after our mid-term examinations,for instance,couldn't have been more surprising.
Sitting in our chairs next to our parents,we felt like we were on pins and needles,expecting a final outburst when they examined our grades and rankings.However,our teacher came to our rescue.He told our parents the stress we faced in our daily school lives and how hard we had worked for the college entrance examination."No matter the score,they all studied very hard and each one of them has made progress.They deserve encouragement rather than blame,"he said.When they heard these words,many parents nodded,their anger gone.Well,to be honest,we hadn't worked that hard before the meeting,but we decided we would try our best to live up to our teacher's expectations after it.
Another highlight of this parents'meeting was when our parents read our letters that we had written in advance.In our daily lives,we are so busy doing homework and preparing for exams that we hardly have time to communicate with our parents.Yet this parents'meeting gave us an opportunity to show our appreciation.In the letters,we expressed our love for them and gratitude for everything they had done for us.Many parents burst into tears after reading their children's letters.
So you see,our parents'meetings may not be as bad as we think.They could be opportunities to bring us closer to our parents.

4.When you're an employee of a company,no matter the size,it's common to see co-workers promoted,or transferred to a different department. But there is another way to move around-by creating a new position for yourself.I did this several years ago, though I wasn't actively looking for a different job.
In 2007,I was hired at the Transamerica Life Insurance Company,as a customer service representative in the distributions services department.I processed requests for distributions from our annuity(養(yǎng)老金)policy holders around the country.Someone might have forgotten to sign a form, for example,or might have omitted security information. To solve the problem,I'd mail the person a letter.
The company had been through several combinations,so in our department alone we had a collection of about 140 templates(模板) for letters related to distributions. The longer I worked with the letters, the more I saw how they could be improved. Some had overlapping information and could be combined. Some had incorrect grammar or needed updating.I also noticed that industry terminology(專業(yè)術(shù)語) wasn't standard across all the versions.
When I told my department supervisor about this in 2008,she agreed that the letters needed revamping. She said I should stop what I'd been doing and start the new work.In a relatively short time,I was able to make numerous improvements and reduce the number of letters to 70.It was an informal job change until a managers'meeting several months later.
At that meeting,a vice president who was unaware of my new work mentioned that the division's entire stock of 1,700 letters should be reviewed. My manager told her that she knew the perfect person for the job-me.The position was still considered temporary when I took on the extra tasks, but I was able to show that the work had value, and I was officially promoted and given a raise in November 2009.

31.According to Paragraph 1,which of the following statements is true?D
A.The author admired those who got a promotion in his company.
B.The author tried his best to get a promotion in his company
C.The author was eager to seek another job.

A.Where there is will,there is a way.

It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and to go his or her own way.Industry has firmly carved out (創(chuàng)造出) a teenage market.These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be.And many of today's parents have come to award high marks for the popularity of their children.All this adds up to a great barrier for the teenager who wants to find his or her own path.
But the barrier is worth climbing over.The path is worth following.You may want to collect rocks when everyone else is collecting records.You may have some thoughts that you don't care to share at once with your classmates.Well,go to it.Find yourself.Be yourself.Popularity will come-with the people who respect you for who you are.That's the only kind of popularity that really counts.

18.Sales of electric bicycles,or e-bikes,a hot item in consumer green tech, are expected to grow by more than 50% in North America during 2013.Actor William Shatner, who is no stranger to futuristic tech, recently purchased two e-bikes for him and his wife.
I've been shopping for an e-bike now for a few weeks, and I've had my eye on the folding electric bike.I've had folding bikes in the past and love the convenience of being able to throw my bike into my car.
The e-bike market is ready to go mainstream in the U.S.The price for e-bikes has come down greatly in rcccnt months. At one time. Most e-bikes with good components and proper weight were in the 3,000range.Now you can find reasonable quality c-bikes in the 1,000range.With gas prices at all-time highs,e-bikes are an attractive,low-cost option to gas efficient vehicles.
E-bike owners are finding that they arc great for commuting(每犬往返)to work,as  traditional bikes can be a problem with office dress and sweat.
People who use e-bikes range from commuters to casual cyclers who like a little help with hills and wind,to those who decided to save money on.buying a motor bike. These are not for the serious road cycler or professional mountain biker.
If you're considering all e-bike,it pays to do some research first.Cheaper e-bikes are going to be heavier and have less battery.power.Higher priced bikes will be made from lighter materials and have better batteries.
Another consideration is local motor vehicle laws. For example, according to US federal law,as long as your electric bike is under 750 watts and does not go over 20 MPH then it is a bicycle and not a motor vehicle. Most consumer e-bikes in the 1,000 range don't fit the motorized vehicle description.
66.The writer introduces William Shatner as an example in order toD.
A.show that he is wild about the future technology
B.tell us that he is an agent for the e-bike market

67.Which of the following may not contribute to the e-bike's going mainstream?A

C.The local motor vehicle laws ale not strict enough.
D.Some folding e-bikes are convenient to put into a car.
68.According to the text,e-bikes are practical forC.
A.serious road cyclers         B.couples spending a holiday
C.people commuting to work     D.professional mountain bikers
69.Which of the following about e-bikes is true?B
A.The cheaper e-bikes are usually made of lighter materials.
B.Most c-bikes in the l,000 range are a bicycle,not a motor vehicle.
C.Local motor vehicle law doesn't have any limit to e-bikes.
D.E-bikes in the l,000 range are too cheap to have better batteries.
70.What is the best title for this passage?A
A.E-bike sales to shift into mainstream in 20l3
