6.Twenty-eight people were dead in the US schooling shooting,_____ there were twenty kids.( 。
A.of themB.of whomC.in thatD.in which

分析 28個人死于美國校園的槍擊事件,他們中有20個孩子.

解答 答案:B.
根據(jù)句子結(jié)構(gòu)可以看出,_____ there were twenty kids是前句的定語從句,先行詞是Twenty-eight people,所以答案是B,意思是他們中有20個孩子,whom代指Twenty-eight people,其他選項(xiàng)與結(jié)構(gòu)不符,A不能做定語從句的引導(dǎo)詞;C that不能用于介詞后;D which不能代指人.

點(diǎn)評 考查非限制定語從句.
人稱代詞不能引導(dǎo)定語從句,例如:
I have two brothers, both of whom are teachers.
I have two brothers and both of them are teachers.

Almost every day we come across situations in which we have to make decisions one way or another.Choice,we are given to believe,is a right. But for a good many people in the world,in rich and poor countries, choice is a luxury,something(41)Jbut hard to get,not a right. And for those who think they are exercising their right to make choices, the whole system is merely an illusion,a false idea created by companies and advertisers hoping to sell their products.
The endless choice gives birth to anxiety in people's lives.Buying something as basic as a coffee pot is not exactly(42)F.Easy access to a wide range of everyday goods leads to a sense of powerlessness in many people(43)Hin the costomer giving up and walking away,or just buying an unsuitable item that is not really wanted.Recent studies in England have shown that many electrical goods (44)Gin almost every family are not(45)Eneeded.More difficult decision-making is then either avoided or trusted into the hands of the(46)C,lifestyle instructors,or advisors.
It is not just the availability of the goods that is the problem, but the speed with which new types of products come on the market.Advances in(47)Iand production help quicken the process.Products also need to have a short lifespan so that the public can be persuaded to replace them within a short time.The(48)Dexample is computers, which are almost out-of-date once they are bought. This indeed makes selection a problem. So gone are the days when one could just walk with ease into a shop and buy one thing:no choice,no(49)B.

16.Twelve years ago,I arrived in Central Florida from Puerto Rico.I had heard of a job opportunity and decided to pursue it,but it never became a reality.I quickly learned that being alone without resources in an unfamiliar city was not a comfortable situation to be in.
Once my limited funds ran out I became homeless and spent a year and a half living on the streets of Orlando.Apart from feeling not being noticed and missing my family,I had to face another challenge-hunger.
For the first time in my life,I,as a foreign man,who had lived my life in the relative comfort of the middle class,understood the frustration someone feels when they don't get enough to eat.I clearly remembered having run a distance of more than 7miles on many occasions just to make it to a local feeding program before they closed at 7pm.
Once the need for food was met,the next challenge would arise-where to find a place to sleep for the night.Fortunately,local programs like the Coalition for the Homeless,Second Harvest Food Bank and the Wayne Densch Center were an important part of my ability to survive my painful experience.
With the help of these programs,I was accepted by a college scholarship program through the Coalition and obtained two degrees from Valencia.
My experience has helped me understand that devoting my life to helping others offers lasting rewards.Today,I am employed as Childhood Hunger Programs Manager at Second Harvest Food Bank and oversee the summer feeding,Hi-Five Kids Pack,and Kids Café programs.I am so proud to be able to distribute food resources to those wonderful programs and help hundreds more like me.

13.Why did the author run a distance of over 7miles on many occasions?B
