Five Things Ambitious People Never Say

(1)“I can’t do this—it’s too hard.”

Ambitious people never limit themselves or undervalue hard work with these words. 1.

(2)“I’m not good enough.”

Ambitious people never say they are not good enough. Saying you are not good enough holds you back and makes you vulnerable to quit when things get a little rough. And quitting when things get a little rough is never a good thing. The most successful people in the world are not quitters. 2.Be confident and believe in yourself, or no one else will.

(3) “I won’t make it through the obstacles.”

Challenges and obstacles are tests of your resolve and desire to succeed. 3.They say they will make it because they know better things lie ahead—the sun always shines after the storm.

(4) 4.

The only time people won’t take you seriously is if you don’t take yourself seriously. Insisting that people won’t take you seriously is an excuse not to do what you know you should do. Ambitious people never say these words. They respect themselves and honor their work and that earns people’s respect. Start respecting yourself and honoring what you do and people will respect and take you seriously.

(5)“I’m going to fail for sure.”

5.It can teach you valuable lessons and redirect you to the right path. Ambitious people don’t say they are going to fail and let that stop them from trying. They defy the fear of failure by taking calculated risks because they know the only time you are truly defeated is when you don’t try at all. Jim Carrey says it best: “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”

A. People won’t take me seriously.

B. They tell themselves they can do it.

C. They are hard workers who believe in themselves and their abilities.

D. People take it for granted that it is impossible.

E. Ambitious People never say they can do everything well.

F. Ambitious people never say they won’t make it through the hard times.

G. Failure is not entirely bad.

As a student, I can tell you that there is nothing better than praised by my teacher before my classmates. Never will I forget one experience in an English class last year.

I felt extreme nervous the instant the class began. Mr. Zhang might announce the exam result and I would probably get scolding as before. Surprisingly, when entering the classroom, he glanced at us, saying gently, “Today, I won’t talk about the exam, but I am excited to tell you what Li Jia wrote an excellent English article in the exam.” At hearing what he said, I was so excited that I couldn’t hold back my tear. It was the first time that I have got praised. From then on, I fell in love with the English. I’m grateful to Mr. Zhang. Without her praise, I couldn’t have gone such far in my English study.

My family was gathered for a barbecue when the discussion arose about a celebrity who earned a large amount of money. The major criteria for receiving millions of dollars seem to be determined by how much the audience will pay to watch the performer achieve.

The discussion led to a sudden self-questioning. Why did I choose teaching for a career? I half-listened to their conversation as I pondered the answer.

I remembered my three children watching me spend nights planning for my class. I remembered how they intently listened to my frustrations concerning materials, procedures and the amount of responsibility that seemed to endlessly be thrust into the laps of classroom teachers. I remembered when it came time for each of my own children to choose a profession. How I waited to hear if any had plans to follow Mom into teaching. Long considerations held no mention of anyone becoming a teacher.

Dessert was being served, and everyone was still involved in the discussion of the enormous salary of one individual, when the phone rang. My husband handed the phone to me.

“Hello, this is Bonnie Block,” I said.

“Is this the Bonnie Block who used to teach kindergarten?”

A nervous sensation swelled in me, and my mind raced with memories of those days long ago.

“Yes!” I exclaimed with a lump in my throat. It seemed like forever as I waited anxiously to hear what the caller would say next.

“I am Danielle—Danielle Russ. I was in your kindergarten class.”

Tears of surprise and joy rolled down my flushed cheeks.

“Yes,” I uttered softly as I remembered that darling, wonderful child.

“Well, I am graduating from high school this year, and I have been trying to find you. I wanted you to know what a difference you made in my life.”

She proceeded to give details. My influence on her wasn’t limited to kindergarten but remained a strong motivating force when she needed a coach to help her meet a challenge. “I pictured you praising and encouraging me all the way.”

Why choose teaching?

Tea drinking was common in China for nearly one thousand years before anyone in Europe had ever heard about tea.People in Britain were much slower in finding out what tea was like, mainly because tea was very expensive. It could not be bought in shops and even those people who could afford to have it sent from Holland did so only because it was a fashionable curiosity. Some of them were not sure how to use it.They thought it was a vegetable and tried cooking the leaves. Then they served them mixed with butter and salt. They soon discovered their mistake but many people used to spread the used tea leaves on bread and give them to their children as sandwiches.

Tea remained scarce and very expensive in England until the ships of the East India Company began to bring it direct from China early in the seventeenth century.During the next few years so much tea came into the country that the price fell and many people could afford to buy it.

At the same time people on the Continent were becoming more and more fond of tea.Until then tea had been drunk without milk in it,but one day a famous French lady named Madame de Sevigne decided to see what tea tasted like when milk was added. She found it so pleasant that she would never again drink it without milk.Because she was such a great lady her friends thought they must copy everything she did,so they also drank their tea with milk in it.Slowly this habit spread until it reached England and today only very few British people drink tea without milk.

At first, tea was usually drunk after dinner in the evening. No one ever thought of drinking tea in the afternoon until a duchess (公爵夫人) found that a cup of tea and a piece of cake at three or four o clock stopped her getting “a sinking feeling” as she called it.She invited her friends to have this new meal with her and so,tea-time was born.
