16.A.Never give up
B.Reasons for his win
C.Weakness or strength
D.Believe in his teacher
E.The winner of the final match
F.Take part in his first competition

Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your biggest strength.Take,for example,the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo(柔道) despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a serious car accident.
61.D
The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master.The boy was doing well,so he couldn't understand why,after three months of training,the master had taught him only one move."Sensei,"the boy finally said,"shouldn't I be learning more moves?""This is the only move you know,but this is the only move you'll ever need to know,"the sensei replied.Not quite understanding,but believing in his teacher,the boy kept training.
62.F
Several months later,the sensei took the boy to his first tournament.Surprising himself,the boy easily won his first two matches.The third match proved to be more difficult,but after some time,his opponent(對手) became impatient; the boy quickly used his one move to win the match.
63.A
Amazed by his success,the boy was now in the finals.This time,his opponent was bigger,stronger,and more experienced.For a while,the boy appeared to be defeated.Concerned that the boy might get hurt,the judge called a time-out.He was about to stop the match but the boy insisted to continue.
64.E
Soon after the match resumed,his opponent made a critical mistake:he dropped his guard.Instantly,the boy used his move to pin him.The boy had won the match and the tournament.He was the champion.
65.B
On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his
mind."Sensei,how did I win the tournament with only one move?""You won for two reasons,"the sensei answered."First,you've almost mastered one of the most
difficult throws in all of judo.Second,the only known defence for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."
The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

15.Sometimes people keep on thinking and asking"Who on earth is in control of our life?Who is pulling our strings?"For the majority of us,it's other people-society,colleagues,friends,family or our religious community.We learned this way of operating when we were very young,of course.We were brainwashed.We discovered that feeling important and feeling accepted was a nice experience and so we learned to do everything we could to make other people like us.As Dr.George puts it,"Most people are other people.Their thoughts are someone else's opinions,their lives and their feelings are imitated."
So when people tell us how wonderful we are,it makes us feel good.We long for this good feeling like a drug-we are addicted to it and seek it out wherever we can.Therefore,we are so eager for the approval of others that we live unhappy and limited lives,failing to do the things we really want to.Just as drug addicts and alcoholics live worsened lives to keep getting their fix(一劑毒品),we worsen our own existence to get our own constant fix of approval.
But,just as with any drug,there is a price to pay.The price of the approval drug is freedom-the freedom to be ourselves.The truth is that we cannot control what other people think.People have their own plans,and they come with their own baggage and,in the end,they're more interested in themselves than in you.Furthermore,if we try to live by the opinions of others,we will build our life on sinking sand.Everyone has a different way of thinking,and people change their opinions all the time.The person who tries to please everyone will only end up getting exhausted and probably pleasing no one in the process.
So how can we take back control?I think there's only one way-make a conscious decision to stop caring what other people think.We should guide ourselves by means of a set of values-not values from the outside by others,but innate values which come from within.If we are driven by these values and not by the changing opinions and value systems of others,we will live a more authentic,effective,purposeful and happy life.

57.What Dr.George says in paragraph 1probably meansC.
A.most people have a variety of thoughts
B.other people's thoughts are more important
C.most people's thoughts are controlled by others
D.we have thoughts similar to those of others
58.What does the author try to argue in paragraph 3?A
A.We may lose ourselves to please others.
B.We need to pay for what we want to get.
C.The price of taking the drug is freedom.
D.Changing opinions may cost us our freedom.
59.We can conclude from the passage thatB.
A.it's better to do what we like
B.we shouldn't care what others think
C.we shouldn't change our own opinions
D.it's important to accept others'opinions
60.Which of the following would be the best title for the text?C
A.Why Should We Please Others?
B.We Are Eager to Be Accepted
C.Who on Earth Is in Control of Our Life?
D.We Can Not Control Others'Thoughts.

14.On March 9th,Apple,probably the most successful technology company in history, held an event to launch its smartwatch, which will go on sale next month. In addition to keeping track of time, the watch measures the wearer's heart rate and activity levels, processes voice commands, gives alerts of incoming e-mails and calls and facilitates payments in checkout lines. In other words,it does a lot of what smartphones already accomplish, but is worn on the wrist and must be close to an iPhone in order to function. Why is there so much buzz about this watch?
As smartphones have enjoyed a sudden and tremendous boost in global appeal, people have started to wonder what the next major technology trend would be.Many analysts have pinned their hopes on wearable devices, which contain small sensors to track and display information. This category includes everything from smartwatches like Apple's,to fitness bands that measure sleep patterns and exercise,to"smart"shoes that measure distance,to smart glasses that can take voice commands and display information.Wearables promise to measure personal data and save people time:a glance at one's wrist to see alerts takes fewer seconds than pulling out a phone.Companies in various industries, from mining to airlines, are also cautiously testing whether wearables can help improve efficiency or customer service.
However, while the number of wearable gadgets has grown, consumers still tend to be geeks (對電腦癡迷的人) and fitness fans.Last year around 21million wearable devices were sold, most of them wrist-worn devices, according to IDC,a research firm.Wearable devices have failed to become mainstream for three main reasons.First, many of them are unable to function without a nearby smartphone, which limits their appeal.Consumers already have to keep track of several devices without adding another.Second, they are not yet considered cool.Google Glass,a pair of"smart"glasses made by the search-engine firm, were so clunky that even fashion models could not make them look good.Third, there is not yet a"killer app"that proves their usefulness in people's daily lives.Technologists imagine a future when wearable devices will serve to confirm personal identity, facilitate payments, unlock house and car doors and track people's activity and wellness. That future, however,is years away.
Apple has a record of pushing existing technologies into the mainstream, including the Macintosh computer,iPod,iPhone and iPad.This helps explain why people are so interested in Apple's watch. If the firm's new product is attractive enough,it could validate (使…有效)a whole category of technology.Apple has enough loyal fans to sell millions of watches this year. But wearable devices'usefulness for the masses remains uncertain. In the meantime, firms and software developers will need to invest more time and resources in designing new applications that will put the"wear"in wearables.

74.The underlined word"buzz"in the first paragraph probably means"A".
A.excitement
B.doubt
C.complaint
D.satisfaction
75.Apple's smartwatch has all the following functions except thatC.
A.it makes payments more convenient
B.it informs people of the arrival of emails
C.it enables the wearer to talk to the caller
D.it reacts to commands when talked to
76.What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs?C
A.Apple can become the mainstream in technology because most of its products own attractive appearances.
B.Wearable technology is popular among the majority because it serves various purposes in diverse areas.
C.Firms and software developers need to make wearable devices more wearable to meet the needs of the majority.
D.Many people still want to buy Google Glass even if it doesn't look good on fashion models.
77.What is the purpose of writing this passage?B
A.To tell people about the functions and limits of Apple's smartwatch.
B.To argue that the smartwatch can serve as a good example to improve wearable devices.
C.To encourage various companies to improve their businesses by using wearables.
D.To help consumers differentiate the smartwatch from other wearable gadgets.

2.If you have children at home,it is best to work around the school calendar.Summer is an ideal time,as children have completed another grade and have said their goodbyes to school feiends.Planning to move directly following the end of school,however,does not give your children time to adapt to the idea of moving,to say boodbye to neighborhood friends and their home.When setting the date,allow a few weeks at the new destination for children to unpack and meet new neighborhood friends.They will be better prepared for the school year if they have time to make their new house their home.Too much change can be detrimental to performance and emotional well-being.
3.What works best for your children alwo works best for you.As part of the settling in process,take a few days for you and your children to check out the new school,meet some teachers and find appropriate transportation.Buth you and your children will be better prepared,leading to a smoother transition.
4.When possible,avoid moving before major holidays,such as Christmas,since part of such holidays is being with family and friends.Birthdays,and other family events can also be dif-ficult.Cive yourself enough time in your new place before the holiday season begins to meet new people and feel a sense of community.Better yet,save your move for immediately follow-ing a holiday.Holidays provide a perfect opportunity for good-byes and final get-togethers.
5.Most people would agerr that summer is the best time to move.Children are out of school,the weather is almost guar-anteed to be perfect and friends are available to help.If this is your ideal time to move,make sure you check moving company schedules and rates before confirming your move date.Most companies have peak times and will charge higher rates accord-ingly.Also,if you are planning to move at peak times,you will need to be better organized to ensure that a moving compa-ny or a moving truck is available for the date and times you re-quire.Keep in mind that the level of the service often changes between the summer months,when students replace full-time experienced movers,and off-season.
6.As much as summer could cost you more,winter,as com-mon sense indicates,is also not an ideal time to move.Travel is difficult,both for you and your family,along with the mov-ing company.Items dept overnight in a truch under feezing comditions may result in damaged goods.If you are moving from one climate to another,water damage may occur when the mode of transport that is moving your household items travels from a cold environment to a warmer climate.Freex freezing and tha-wing cause the most damage if items are not properly sealed.

8.根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從下框的A-F選項中選出能概括每一段主題的最佳選項.選項中有一項為多余選項.
A.The spreading tea
B.The history of tea growing
C.Changes of tastes for drinks
D.Reducing cancer risks
E.The plant Camellia sinensis
F.A woman's opinion of tea
61.C
Americans are far more knowledgeable about drinks than they were 20years ago.Witness the Starbucks revolution and you'll know where the trend goes.Now,encouraged by recent studies suggesting that it can cut the risk of cancer and heart disease and slow the aging process,tea is enjoying a similar change.Enough fashionable tea houses are springing up to make even longtime coffee drinkers consider switching drinks.
62.A
Tea is available in more places than ever.The Tea Associa-tion of the United States reports that from 1990to 1999,annual sales of the drink grew to 4.6billionfrom 1.8billion."Green tea is seen by consumers as a'functional food'"-delivering health benefits beyond food itself,says Vierhile.
63.E
Recently published studies point out that only teas that come from the leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis have been shown to contain health benefits.Other herbal teas may taste good,yet they do little more than warm up the drinker.But for Camellia sinensis,the evidence is powerful.In a 1998study,Harvard University researchers found that drinking one cup of black tea a day lowered the risk of heart attack by as much as 44percent compared with non-tea drinkers,and other studies have suggested that the antioxidants(抗氧化劑)in these so-called real teas can also prevent cancer.
64.D
One such antioxidant in green tea is ECGC,a compound 20times as powerful as vitamin E and 200times as powerful as vitamin C."When people ask me for something good and cheap they can do to reduce their cancer risk,I tell them to drink real tea,"says Mitchell Gaynor,director of medical oncology at New York City's Strang-Cornell Cancer Prevention Center.
65.F
Among those inspired to become a green-tea drinker is Tess Ghilaga,a New York writer who took it up after seeking advice from a nutritionist six years ago."I've never been a cof-fee drinker,"says Ghilaga,33."She told me to start drinking green tea for the antioxidant qualities."Now Ghilaga and her husband habitually make tea-they order theirs from Inpursuitoftea.Com,an Internet tea company.And although tea contains about half the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee,"you still get such a kick from it,"says Ghilaga.
