A tour of the Wuyi Mountains in the northwest of Fujian Province is well worth your time. This place has clear rivers, beautiful forests on hills and peaceful villages. On the river you can see many high hills or stop to climb a rock staircase to the top of Tianyoufeng. From there you might stand in a light warm rain as you look out over the beautiful valleys (山谷) below. Clouds come and go among the mountains and into the valleys. Birds sing cheerfully in the forest, perhaps calling out names from long ago. In another part of the river you can take a boat down a whitewater but be sure to wear a T-shirt and shorts as you will get wet! If you need to wear glasses, tie them to your head. Don’t change your mind about going down the river! Be brave! Some guides will help you on the boat and take care of you on the river. You can watch the green water become white as it begins to move more rapidly. You will probably feel both excited and nervous, but enjoy the ride! When your journey is finished, don’t forget to go to the village nearby and try the famous Wuyi rock tea. Then you can have a rest and think about the trip.

The Festival of Cultures is an annual event to celebrate the wide range of cultures found in our great state. People representing 40 cultural groups will share their traditions and customs. Here are just a few of the festival’s many activities.
Crafts (手工): See the fine art of basket weaving from Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Watch the delicate art of making paper umbrellas from Thailand and the decorative craft of paperl picado, or paper cutting, from Mexico. Music and Dance: Experience musical instruments that you have never heard before. Storytelling: Listen for hours as professional storytellers charm you with interesting tales. Fables, folktales, and ballads from various countries will be told. By popular demand, Gwendolyn Washington, a famous African American storyteller, is back.
Food: Enjoy irresistible foods from other countries, such as gyros from Greece, seafood paella from Spain,

Are you carrying too much on your back to school? Lots of kids of your age are. Not only are students in China suffering from the problem, but kids in the United States are puzzled by heavy school bags.
Experts are starting to worry that young students are having back and neck problems as a result of school bags being too heavy for them. It is hard for me to get up the stairs with my bag because it's so heavy, said Rick Hammond, an 11-year-old student in the US.
Rick is among the students who have regular backpacks(背包) with two straps (帶子) to carry them, but a number of other students choose rolling backpacks. But even with rolling backpacks, getting up stairs and buses with them is still a problem for kids. Many of them have hurt their knees, backs or necks because of heavy school bags.

Scott Bautch, a Wisconsin back doctor, said kids under 4th grade should stay with 10 percent, but it’s also important that older kids don’t go beyond (超出) 15 percent, because their bones are still growing.
Bautch explained that there are other injuries caused by backpacks. Kids are losing their balance and falling down with these backpacks, he said.
Parents and teachers are starting to tell kids to only take home library books they will be reading in the evening. Some teachers are using worksheets (作業(yè)單 ) or thin workbooks for students to take home.

The global financial crisis is likely to cause increased mental health problems and even suicides（自殺）as people struggle to deal with poverty and unemployment, the World Health Organization warned Thursday.
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are already affected by mental problems such as depression and bipolar disorders (帶狂躁的抑郁癥) and the current market meltdown (崩潰) could worsen feelings of despair among people who can't stand such illnesses.
The United Nations agency said the impact could be especially marked for those living in low and middle income countries where access to treatment is often limited.

Benedetto Saraceno, director of WHO's mental health, said mental health disorders affected one in four people at some point in their lives.
Mental and neurological disorders are often chronic (慢性的) and disabling, he said. Nearly 1 million people commit suicide worldwide every year, a large proportion (比例) of them are young adults.
Asked about the financial crisis, Saraceno said, “Poverty can be the consequence of such events, the debts, despair and sense of loss that may reach middle and lower classes. Even the poor can be affected by this crisis.”
“There is a clear evidence that suicide is linked to financial disasters. I am not talking about the millionaire's jumping out of the window but about poor people,” he said. The global crisis could be expected to affect the “stability（穩(wěn)定）of communities and families”, according to Saraceno.
